Civil unrest, what's really going on?

1000 replies

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

There are obviously going to be some crimes committed by asylum seekers , partly because some people are criminals and partly because they are living wirh a vast amount of stress, they are vulnerable and desperate. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I didn't have a permanent home and didn't know if I would be allowed to stay in the country. My mental health would probably be terrible.

On the other hand, I would imagine that asylum seekers are often the victims of crime - racist hate, abuse from traffickers, gang masters and dodgy landlords.

Not having a home and being in a vaunerable position doesn't make people rape or stab. How can you possibly think that poor mental health is an excuse for extreme violence?

A 12 year old girl was kidnapped and raped by two immigrants in an asylum hotel. The local police and councillors tried to keep it quiet to prevent civil unrest. The girl in Epping was also 12. It’s pretty sinister the importation of additional VAWG and lack of deportation of sex criminals.

It actually shocking that people are so unaware of what's going on. They're mostly not asylum seekers. They're migrants. I honestly hope that all people caring so much about their mental health will get a hotel full of undocumented males next to their children's school.
The protest are everywhere. Check Twitter or your local press

Typical MSM

I'm confused, are you saying the PP is on mainstream media, which is clearly not the case as this is a forum?
You think it is "typical msm" to ask for evidence of something?

It really is shocking, protests about incidents all over Europe. Murders, robbery, rape. You can find them on Google just not on mainstream media. Foreign press, Instagram, twitter. FB.

Why do you think OFCOM wrote to American based apps threatening them with prison if they didn't silence the stories coming out of the UK.

Which btw the lawyers representing these companies are planning to sue OFCOM.

I have always been someone who welcomes others (especially in need) but have a practical head too and can see we have reached capacity. I also feel we are being lied to more then ever and media feels biased. The BBC are happy to continually reported cost of living, crime going up, lack of infustricture but won't link why there is an increasing demand.

ForeverLoveCeltic · 04/08/2025 04:54

Watermelonnice · 03/08/2025 23:15

I think that this will be the next big uk wide scandal after the rape gangs and post office.

Multiple attacks by newly arrived migrants, some on very young girls, Epping, Nuneaton etc.

Seems to be a media blackout on the latest one and protests also not reported.

Seems that police have been instructed to keep it quiet and media too, but someone whistle blew.

Obviously orders from someone in government? Very bad idea as it makes you feel like you can’t trust the authorities and they are not looking after the needs of our own people, especially children. And women.

Investigative Journalism is dead now it seems.

Why are so few aware of what's going on? WEF UN Agenda 2030 Open Borders, The NWO and the Great Reset, listen to Charlie talking about it at Davos.

Yep it's all there. Cracks are appearing in the wall of silence because of you tube and other apps. Editors are being made to look like government dummies.

As for police silence a recently retired one we know said as individuals they fear retribution from upstairs. They are human, have families to support, pensions to worry about. Whistleblowers rarely fare well.

There are assaults and molestation happening in multiple cities across the UK at the moment.
Mainstream press don't report it.

You have to wonder why. Yet we hear constantly about Trump, Putin, Gaza etc.

Well you probably wouldn’t go around stabbing and raping…. You’d like to think? I don’t think feeling stressed when you’ve arrived to your dream destination is a factor and quite frankly I’m sick of reading this from posters, oh those poor, stressed out asylum seekers just need to get some rapes out of their system doh. The U.K. needs to set the bar higher! We’re bloody doomed.

Where and when in Canary Warf? I have not seen anything

There’s been lots of coordinated protests over the past week outside the Britannia Hotel on Marsh Wall. I’ve seen the arrangements being posted on FB, as well as the crowd pictures/videos following. There’s been a huge police presence.

I used to work round there, and am so glad I don’t anymore as I would feel really vulnerable walking as a woman on my own with the protesting group baying for blood as they have been given I’m not white (though British born and bred).

Mainstream press do report it! However, as the majority don’t involve asylum seekers it doesn’t suit the narrative of the bigots who support Reform!

How many rapes and assaults are committed by British nationals? I’ll give you a clue far more than those committed by asylum seekers but that doesn’t suit your racist narrative! Reform have so much to answer for as they are coordinating all this, they are feeding people’s anxiety about migration both legal and illegal, which Farage can’t separate and it seems people like you can’t either!

Exactly!!!

I mean this poor asylum seeker was burdened with the cultural expectations of child marriage-this is obviously why he raped a 15 year old in broad daylight in a busy town centre in Stirlingshire. That excuse was even in his defence. Poor guy got 9 years. Think of all the trauma and stress he’s suffered.

Betterbarbecues · 04/08/2025 06:10

The media should report incidents, otherwise people will turn more to other sources where there may be strong agendas. I live in another country in Europe where the background of those who have committed crimes is suppressed by the police and media. Rather than calming things down it just leads to anger and some very radical voices being listened to.

It is also important that the situation is described accurately. Are people refugees or economic migrants. Are they victims of human trafficking. There is an awful situation where Afghan interpreters who applied correctly have been blocked from entering the country. Lots of racism flying and sometimes the genuine victims are further harassed. Then some really dangerous young men coming in on illegal routes and the threat of this needs to be understood.

If you read the report you will see that his defense counsel-whose job it is to defend him-tried to talk about cultural differences. This did not help him -he was convicted, jailed and will be deported. I think it’s 93% of rapists in this country who don’t spend a day in jail?

Probably not a good example to choose.

You must be local to me Showerflowers, it was utterly disgraceful how little coverage there was of that poor woman's murder Angry I get that the media is trying not to inflame but it only makes people angrier when they feel they're being lied to.

@Richandstrange @Showerflowers was the murder last October? If so, it was in the news

Notsosure1 · 04/08/2025 06:26

JamesMacGill · 03/08/2025 23:18

I think there’s a media divide. The Express, Mail, Sun - none of these newspapers would shy away from publishing anything about immigration. The BBC, Guardian, Independent totally the other way, they only post very reluctantly if there’s a story which paints immigration in a negative light, and try to bury it under a ton of other articles.

I agree that organisations are captured. Expressing any opinion other than ‘immigration is amazing and only mouth breathing knuckle draggers oppose an open borders policy’ is career suicide in many places.

Lucy Connolly case was an absolute joke. Paedophiles walk free from court every single day, in the double figures, yet she gets a hefty jail sentence (not even suspended) for a deeply unpleasant tweet.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying - I think they’ve decided to clamp down hard on ppl like her (and the eco protestors) as a deterrent to others. The example you gave about paedophiles, while it’s abhorrent, would only affect a comparatively small
number of people - whereas a high profile(ish) social media user inviting mass violence is a far bigger danger - as it could spread like wildfire once it is shared and could end up a national incident, as we’ve seen with various other riots throughout the years.

It seemed bizarre the custodial sentence she received but I assume the police and government absolutely want to squash any risk of widespread violent disorder, which is understandable.

I do agree with PP’s who have said that keeping the public in the dark only exacerbates the negativity and if they don’t mention the offenders’ background ppl will just assume they’re asylum seekers/ migrants, which is also dangerous.

Yes, only saw this on Substack wtf thousands marching peaceably but very clearly making their feelings known.
also know police in London -stories never get to msm

Errr, ChatGPT isn’t a search engine and it’s not a reliable source. It is not going to give you an accurate response to a question, especially not one on a subject that has a lot of misleading information published about it.

Strawberrri · 04/08/2025 06:30

Everyone’s a refugee - anyone arriving who is an illegal immigrant will either disappear into the melee In the U.K. or be sent home.

FancyNewt · 04/08/2025 06:35

I think there is a wider issue with the far right stoking up fear. I'm not saying there aren't crimes happening by asylum seekers and of course there is no excuse for that. But I wonder why this is all suddenly such an issue and what the truth is. The fact that there is so much anti immigration talk here , a forum that I imagine is heavily populated by middle class women speaks volumes about how much the far right rhetoric is leaking into everyday life. I simply don't know what to believe.

.

babyproblems · 04/08/2025 06:36

Crimes are committed all over the place, as has always been. You can check official crime rates if you are worried. I wouldn’t listen too much to your DH. He sounds like he might read the ranty rightwing press.
