Civil unrest, what's really going on?

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

Yes its very odd, I saw a bit of BBC tv about protests in Newcastle, but nothing much on Guardian site considering the scale of what DH is telling me. No idea where he's getting it from but does watch alot of YouTube.

Before my MH issues I used to go on protests fairly regularly - none of them were ever on the news.

Lack of coverage isn't a new thing. What's new is that it's right wingers out protesting - and being ignored by the media is a new experience for them.

And there are almost 600 murders every year in the UK - we don't hear about the vast majority of them. So it's terrible that someone is murdered, but the murder getting no press coverage seems to be standard.

This thread is ridiculous and people are arguing about things that have nothing to do with the topic.

I am wondering whether we have posters in a potential brigade event. Reddit is very angry with mumsnet and there’s is chat on here about the online safety act. So yes that’s another topic change - I apologise.

It's only just out in the open.. theres a protest planned for next saturday

What is “out in the open”? And where is the protest taking place “next Saturday”?

I live in this community and I don’t need an interpreter for my daily life. stop stirring up artificial trouble where none exists

A 12 year old girl was kidnapped and raped by two immigrants in an asylum hotel. The local police and councillors tried to keep it quiet to prevent civil unrest. The girl in Epping was also 12. It’s pretty sinister the importation of additional VAWG and lack of deportation of sex criminals.

Are these two 12 year old victims in addition to the Nuneaton 12 year old girl?

Bromptotoo · 04/08/2025 02:22

Showerflowers · 03/08/2025 17:33

there were several peaceful protests in my area over the last few days at hotels that are being used to house asylum seekers. Nothing on the news at all.

a local to me young lady was stabbed to death by a resident outside the asylum seekers hotel that she worked at. She was stabbed multiple times and left to die, wasn’t found for hours. Nothing on the news. Local news did report on it but scantily.

there’s a lot of unrest where I live. I think the press etc are trying not to fan the flames.

Press not fanning flames?

Are you real?

Do you read SM?

No I believe the bold is sadly the Nuneaton girl.

Edit - and sorry to correct they lived in HMO not hotels. And I don’t believe it took place at the HMO although may be wrong; so I believe poster has their info muddled.

Is there a link to this Nuneaton case?

Are there reported cases of 12yo kids being raped by indigenes?

I literally live in Warwickshire. There are no protests going on about asylum seekers, immigration whatsoever.

This post feels like a disingenuous attempt to stir up shit on behalf of Reform.

There are assaults and molestation happening in multiple cities across the UK at the moment.
Mainstream press don't report it.

And where are you getting your info from? Are you running around the country tracking stories and speaking to witnesses? Or too busy race baiting on Mumsnet?

Mumofnarnia · 04/08/2025 02:33

dizzydizzydizzy · 03/08/2025 18:52

There are obviously going to be some crimes committed by asylum seekers , partly because some people are criminals and partly because they are living wirh a vast amount of stress, they are vulnerable and desperate. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I didn't have a permanent home and didn't know if I would be allowed to stay in the country. My mental health would probably be terrible.

On the other hand, I would imagine that asylum seekers are often the victims of crime - racist hate, abuse from traffickers, gang masters and dodgy landlords.

Look at you, tying yourself in knots trying to justify why you think it’s ok for a 12 year old girl to be raped by saying “well yeah because of mental health so let’s cut them some slack”! Absolutely disgusting!

How would you feel if this happened to one of your children or nieces, cousins or other relative and someone came on a public forum like this and tried to pass it off as being acceptable because of the perpetrator’s mental health? Are you trying to say that it’s ok for these people to commit heinous acts of crime because some of them may be victims of crime themselves? Wow! Just wow!

I really hope the parents or relatives of the child in question are not on here to read your drivel! How insulting!

Blodyneighbour · 04/08/2025 02:45

My DP keeps saying the same. He thinks a civil war is already started.

I've now found something in the Telegraph where Chris Philp is fanning the flames and accusing the police of cover ups. When did the Conservative party cease to be into serious politics?

Indigenes refers to people who appear to be 'White British' who are as prone as other groups to raping women.

tillytown · 04/08/2025 02:58

To the person who claimed there are no protests in London is wrong. There have been protests in many places, the main one has been outside the Britannia Hotel since last week, when the staff were fired and the people who had booked rooms were kicked out at 3am (all of this was filmed by multiple different people as it was happening) so that the hotel could be used to house high risk asylum seekers - they were called that by security guards at the hotel, not me or the protesters. The police have now issued a 28 day ban on people protesting near the hotel. All of this is online, and the police ban is on the met website.
Pretending these things aren't happening just adds fuel to fire. Especially when people in smaller towns think that they are the only ones having groups of men moved into their hometowns, which is then adding anger to the confusion about what's going on, when in reality it's happening in cities as well. The government are making everything so much worse by refusing to talk about what they are doing, by refusing to acknowledge that some of these men are predators who need to be removed, and by refusing to let anyone know of the future plans for helping the other men fit in, find jobs and homes and deal with the fallout from all of this.
Also, why do so many people keep trying to derail threads when people talk about immigration? It's really odd that they have no issue with people talking about anything else, but automatically start with the name calling whenever immigration gets bought up

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/10/foreigners-commit-up-to-quarter-of-sex-crimes/

Two nationalities – Afghans and Eritreans – were more than 20 times more likely to account for sexual offence convictions than British citizens, according to the data. Overall, foreign nationals were 71 per cent more likely than Britons to be responsible for sex crime convictions.

Aside from being evil, are these criminals also crazy? If you're trying to make a new life in a country, why do rape & murder as soon as you get there?

There is clearly a huge culture of sexual violence in Eritrea. Very disturbing- seems tp have been present in a very ugly way in the recent civil war.

I’m in Stanwell at the moment and have stayed right opposite a few peaceful protests outside the lovely hotel. I’m from here and it’s sad to see what’s happening. They want to fill the hotel with all male immigrants. Right next to a park. The protest had a lot of support. It wasn’t on the news when I googled it.

shuggles · 04/08/2025 00:42

The most logical solution to this is to impose far tougher immigration restrictions on men compared to women. It is very rare for women to commit violent crimes. Allowing more women into the country would also mean that the UK would be doing more to help the most vulnerable people.

Exactly! Like so many cases - men's evil behaviour tars their community's women too, who are mostly (tho obvs not all) not committing crimes.
See also : the general US black community being blamed for crime, when that's mostly men. Or the general gay community being blamed for STDs and child abuse, when again that was overwhelmingly men

The one you just handed to me on a plate with your last comment.

If you do not know the I suggest you look into the history of oppression.

You keep claiming you’ve been handed winning arguments, and yet you remain unable to deploy them. You are out of your intellectual depth here, and you know it.

Literally all you have to do is Google ‘Nuneaton.’

Much of it still has been brushed under the carpet. Muslim, sikh and hindu victims have said they feel ignored and invisible.

The fundamentalist Islam and anti-white racism of the abusers is key.

But yes, brown girls of all those faiths were abused too. And several victims were raped again by police who were supposed to help .😡

Oh right. I’m with you.

There’s a site called red rose where you can see all convicted abusers in U.K.

Search Nuneaton and there’s about two pages of white men. I am not going to go through all the profiles but please do and tell me how many are guilty of stranger gangrape in broad daylight of under 16s.

If you want to know what is actually going on in this country - head to X. There were large protests on Saturday in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Waterlooville. There may have been others but that is just what I saw. There were issues in London today where dispersal orders were supposedly given.

General view = other countries view the UK as a laughing stock. General belief that we are living in a 1984esque era and the government is overstepping their mandates re free speech and our right to protest. A lot of anger towards censorship and lack of safety for women and children.

Have protests been forcibly shut down? Has the gov interfered with our right to protest?

AliasGrace47 · 04/08/2025 04:09

JamesMacGill · 03/08/2025 23:04

How disingenuous. ‘Immigrants’ aren’t some homogenous blob (as you very well know) and some factions are far more likely to commit certain types of crime than others. Hence why there are no Japanese grooming gangs.

Misogyny is quite strong in Japan, but fortunately it hasn't manifested in that way, at least outside criminal groups like the yakuza. Anyway people tend to stay in Japan.
