Just that really. Those poor families and children 😪 I wonder what on earth is happening and why it has been reopened. It says there were flaws in the initial investigation

I agree it is good news it has been re-opened…they tried to wipe all their internet profiles …pics are there though the plus of social media!

from reading other sites people aren’t buying it ….the case needs looking into again.

The Daily Mail published her photo but that was swiftly taken down.

oatmilk4breakfast · 26/10/2024 04:20

Does no-one question why on a road like the one the school is on the school has only a wooden fence for protection? How did that look on their risk assessments for school grounds?

Newbutoldfather · 26/10/2024 07:51

@oatmilk4breakfast ,

It is a very quiet road with a 20mph speed limit. I doubt a car crashing at high speed is even on the risk assessment.

The whole thing is extraordinary really. The road angles the other way, so if a driver passed out, they would crash into the other side.

oatmilk4breakfast · 26/10/2024 09:29

Ah thanks @Newbutoldfather i wasn’t aware - it’s so tragic. Surely a seizure is the only answer then - she must have been flooring the accelerator and unable to stop but I hope the new investigation gets to the bottom of it.

Countrylife2002 · 28/01/2025 12:47

I’m just bumping this as she’s been charged again.
Hopefully the truth will now be discovered, expensive law firms or not.

Twixfixing · 28/01/2025 12:48

It's been so long though so can't see thing changing.

ThePolarBearWhoLostHisCrown · 28/01/2025 13:28

Do you have a link please? I couldn't see anything online.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/01/2025 13:29

It's on the Daily Mail and Sky News

ThePolarBearWhoLostHisCrown · 28/01/2025 13:31

Ignore me - just found it on BBC website.

Iamcaptainlee · 28/01/2025 13:35

They are obviously thinking it’s not as simple as her having her first ever seizure or whatever it was she told them.

Unsure why people are struggling to understand this.

Yes, clearly. The cost of reopening the case has to be offset against some strong evidence.
I hope new witnesses (perhaps with dashcam) can come forward. As they say, a gold Land Rover is a very identifiable vehicle.

"Were you attending the local golf course or driving in or around the area of the Study Prep School in Wimbledon at the time of the collision? Did you see the vehicle – a distinctive gold Land Rover Defender – in the lead up to the collision?

@oatmilk4breakfast There was a metal pavement barrier there at the edge of the road. It just fell over. If you go to the Spanish link above you can see it in the daily mail photo, moved to the left. Now there is a solid “bell” on the edge of the road which even that car could not get over.

marshmallowmix · 28/01/2025 15:46

I heard it on the lunch time news and it’s on most news sites Sky, newspapers.

Oftenaddled · 28/01/2025 16:01

DreamW3aver · 24/10/2024 13:20

I agree, they deserve to have if thoroughly investigated. Of course it won't make anything easier for them but if anything new is found it might help someone else in the future

Edited

If you are going to do 24 hour monitoring to pick up seizures as they happen, that would only happen privately unless there were very serious health concerns. So assuming tests for legal purposes, it would be private. You won't normally get a record of a seizure without intrusive live monitoring, unless you trigger them which doesn't always work.

So private / public really can't tell you much here.

Countrylife2002 · 28/01/2025 16:02

Presumably this is something the families have been pushing for - due to evidence they have.

Epileptic seizures don’t show evidence in the brain after they have finished (or this is what I understand), so it’s going to be the evidence of people at the scene that is the deciding factor surely? Otherwise anyone would claim that for car accidents .

chargeitup · 28/01/2025 16:05

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit @Kimmeridge

I think the point is that there were questions about the quality of investigation regarding whether there was a medical event or whether the driver had reason to know they were driving with rush or some such thing.

Hopefully the new investigation will be thorough and everyone will be satisfied with it

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 28/01/2025 17:34

Paganpentacle · 24/10/2024 13:00

Exactly this... tragic outcome but lynching the poor driver who had a medical event at the wheel isnt going to change anything...

Exactly

Twixfixing · 28/01/2025 17:36

Exactly

Case has been reopened. That means an investigation...or are you accusing the police of something?

ImNotThereAmI · 28/01/2025 17:45

It might not change anything. We already know that the head teacher who was there when it happened, was not interviewed at all by police. So it could just be a reopening as the investigation wasn’t thorough enough. Which it clearly wasn’t . Doesn’t mean it wasn’t epilepsy though.

Twixfixing · 28/01/2025 17:50

Agree, I think the key part is the original investigation wasn't thorough hence why it's been reopened.

Sending the driver to jail isn't going to bring those poor girls back.

Can you imagine blacking out, having no recollection of crashing, coming round and finding out you've killed two young children? AND then you find out you could go to jail for that, despite it being a genuine accident in the true sense of the word. She also has a life sentence.

I feel for the parents, I really do, but they're rich parents who believe they can buy the result they want. :( :( nothing is going to bring their girls back. Utterly horrific all round really. Just can't see what it would achieve jailing someone for having a medical episode?

Well I think its pretty obvious for whatever reason - and who knows if its true - that they dont believe it was an unforseen medical emergency. And that the driver knew of her condition before - I think that’s the question they want answers to. It seems obvious to me. Tragic all round.
