Just that really. Those poor families and children 😪 I wonder what on earth is happening and why it has been reopened. It says there were flaws in the initial investigation

@Barrenfieldoffucks why do you think they have similar levels of wealth?

I think the underdog factor comes into play because it was their dc who were killed & they don’t feel like the investigation was thorough.

Because they do.They're easy to Google.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:18

Could you link @Ottobeak? I’ve seen them being interviewed on tvs in what I presume are their houses & photos of the girls in their homes & I wouldn’t put them in the same category.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:23

Google tells me one mum worked in HR for a bank

And the driver has to live with the trauma of accidentally causing it all.
Yet, we have people saying she "got away" with it due to her wealth, accusing her of not caring because she went on holiday after the hearing, and people bringing up a blog post about her bathroom that was published before this tragic incident happened (in another thread anyway).

Claiming to have had an epileptic seizure when she had never had one before is very suspicious & definitely feels like an attempt to ‘get away with it’.

I thought a lot of the case hinged on whether it was her first epileptic fit, rather than whether it was epilepsy. I.e. if she'd had them previously and shouldn't have been driving.

Everyone who has had a seizure has had one for the first time. You can not predict someone having one at some point if they have not had one before.
My dad had one, and was banned from driving for 6 months. It came out the blue.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:34

I don’t think anyone is arguing that’s not the case however it’s also a good defence because how do you disprove it?

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:35

You can see more of the house on the interior designers website, the driver really is a different league.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:36

@Ottobeak it could be that too?

PutItOnMyTab · 24/10/2024 14:27

No, it got ruled out so it was never seen. He was guilty as sin and is still out there. And kept his job with the law firm!

That's absolutely awful.

From the BBC article. This is the father of Selena Lau who was killed in the crash.

Speaking to the BBC on Thursday, Mr Lau said the decision to close the first investigation had left his family "upset".
"We were confused at how they made their decision, because some of the things they told us just didn't tally up to what we understood to have happened and what other witnesses saw," he said.
Mr Lau added the families of those affected were concerned key witnesses had not been spoken to during the original investigation.
"We thought (the police) must have looked at certain pieces of evidence, obtained certain documents and interviewed certain people and I think they themselves have told us that that was not the case, and that's why they've reopened (the investigation)," he said.
Mr Lau added his family would be "quite happy" to accept the original conclusion "if we were told the investigation was conducted thoroughly", adding, "that is obviously not the case".
"All we have ever wanted is a thorough and open investigation for Selena, Nuria and the other families whose lives were turned upside down one summer afternoon, whatever the outcome might be.
"This new investigation is welcome and I sincerely hope that this ongoing nightmare for all of the families and Selena’s schoolmates can come to an end soon.”

From the number of witnesses there the police should get a very clear picture of what the driver was doing when she came through the fence and how she was acting after. That would be key in supporting or disapproving her epileptic fit claim.

What has her house got to do with anything?
I don't get why some people are so hung up about a blog post about her bathroom from before she had the crash.
If she has money, then of course she will get the best solicitors.

SouthernFashionista · 24/10/2024 22:38

The bathroom site?

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:39

@XenoBitch it doesn’t but I was responding to a poster who said the victims were in similar league of wealth to the driver.

mm81736 · 24/10/2024 22:39

I understood there is no new evidence just the feeling that tge decision on the driver's culpability in a case of this seriousness should be made by a court of law.

It still won't go to court, unless charges are brought.

Problem is they didn’t seem to take many witness statements according to some staff and you can’t really take them so long after.

The police statement said

"This further investigation will be undertaken by an accredited senior investigating officer and team with experience in homicide investigations."

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:45

There is a wider point about why there are so few forensic collusion investigators which is one reason for all the delays.

“The Met has confirmed there are 11 forensics collision investigators who are required to carry out investigations on all fatal and some non-fatal crashes. 17 more investigators are in training, with the Met also looking to increase the number of trained officers.”

That seems a tiny number.

But what would justice look like in this circumstance?

An unforeseeable medical emergency wasn't it?

Hardly unforseeable. The driver had been living with epilepsy for a long time.

I don’t think that article is accurate at all. The driver herself said in a statement afterwards that this was her first seizure. So not sure why they say she’d had epilepsy for years? Someone earlier in this thread said there’s other inaccuracies in that article, she wasn’t a governor like it says?

This is just a blog post... anyone could make one. It is an opinion piece. What are his medical credentials?

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 23:01

I’m pretty sure that’s all rubbish.

SouthernFashionista · 24/10/2024 23:13

The flip flops and booze thing don’t surprise me in the least. I have long been curious as to where she was coming from that morning.

QueenOfHiraeth · 24/10/2024 23:17

I thought I saw something on TV a while back where the current school head, ex-head and a teacher were interviewed and the reporter was commenting on the investigation.
Somewhere in there I thought somebody said that her car had been reported to the police on several occasions for fast/unsafe and erratic driving near the school but none of those reports had been followed up. Unless I have misremembered that, maybe that is part of the new investigation.
My friend lives near there and said there is a feeling locally this needs more looking into.
