Just that really. Those poor families and children 😪 I wonder what on earth is happening and why it has been reopened. It says there were flaws in the initial investigation

Good. There were allegations at the time that the driver had form for speeding / dangerous driving and they were ignored. A trial should also make it transparent about why the police believe the murderer had a sudden seizure (extremely rare) & should hopefully be forced to submit some medical proof that it wasn’t something she was already being treated (and should have lost her license) for. There are also rumours she’s connected to someone fairly ‘big’ & it’s possible the police have brushed things under the carpet.

I hope it goes to trial.

soupfiend · 24/10/2024 19:24

What allegations?

Im confused about what an interview with a teacher would garner?

Ottobeak · 24/10/2024 19:26

The outcome will be as it is now. If private medical evidence as been submitted it's stil medical evidence, and the driver has the best lawyers in the land. There's no way this will go to trial and if it did there'd be no conviction.

I'm also a bit uneasy that the victims and their families are being treated differently because of their wealth and influence tbh. I don't think ordinary people would have got this reopened and the cost, to the taxpayer, is going to be huge, for no gain.

PutItOnMyTab · 24/10/2024 19:33

@Ottobeak what a weird thing to say. The met have admitted there were lines of enquiry that were not examined. Everyone has the right to a full and proper investigation.

Of course, but we know that's not what everyone gets.

PutItOnMyTab · 24/10/2024 19:36

Yes that I would agree with

Though I hate to say it, I suspect the driver would have been treated differently if they weren't the wife of a wealthy banker with a lot of purchasing power

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 19:41

One of the telling features is that someone who had a full on grand mal seizure like this would be very sleepy/ confused for quite a period afterwards. Witness and police reports would back that up and if she had a negative drug and alcohol screen then a seizure is high up the list of possible causes.

Why would the emergency services not take someone to hospital if they were in that state though? Surely it would be wrong to question someone whilst they were clearly confused/drowsy?

Its high profile because of what happened & Im not sure how wealthy the parents are but they are certainly well educated.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 19:47

The expensive lawyers will easily be able to argue that any evidence now is too old, biased etc so it’s very unlikely anything will change. However that doesn’t mean the parents won’t get some answers.

"murderer" eh?

I am sure you would be frothing to be on that jury.

marshmallowmix · 24/10/2024 19:52

The driver had top drawer legal presentation ...as others posted up thread throw enough £££ at something...

The parents were on TV came across very, very well. My heart breaks for them

MulderitsmeX · 24/10/2024 19:53

Was there any investigation into why the car didnt stop after it hit the fence? Ive only got a skoda and if i park near a bush with big leaves protruding out it brakes and wont let me go another inch.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 19:55

@MulderitsmeX mine has an emergency braking thing but there was some talk that if you have your foot hard down on the pedal it would override but I dont know how true that is.

Goldmiddle · 24/10/2024 19:55

ECG don’t always show the brain activity. Family member was diagnosed because was having seizures but after 3 ECG finally had a MRI.

I don't know if there was an investigation a such, but it was a huge vehicle with an enormously powerful engine.

My much more ordinary car has warning sounds if it thinks I'm too close to something, but it doesn't actually stop me.

dollyop · 24/10/2024 19:57

Was there any concern about the ability to control an extremely large, heavy vehicle?

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 19:58

I would expect such a high spec new car model to have that tech.

The parents are similarly wealthy by y understanding, this isn't an 'underdog' situation.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:03

@Barrenfieldoffucks why do you think they have similar levels of wealth?

I think the underdog factor comes into play because it was their dc who were killed & they don’t feel like the investigation was thorough.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:05

It’s also not just the parents of the dc who were killed but the staff & other families who have to live with that trauma feel similar.

Definitely not an underdog situation and I find it very disheartening how the amount of sway you have either through money, education and position or these days social media can greatly alter the level of justice you receive.

And the driver has to live with the trauma of accidentally causing it all.
Yet, we have people saying she "got away" with it due to her wealth, accusing her of not caring because she went on holiday after the hearing, and people bringing up a blog post about her bathroom that was published before this tragic incident happened (in another thread anyway).

Dont you think that has always been the case?

Wealth, education and position yes. Social media no for obvious reasons. I suppose it is more obvious now due to he wall to wall media coverage of events.

Twixfixing · 24/10/2024 22:15

@XenoBitch I was just pointing out that it’s not just the two families who are dissatisfied with the investigation.

I don’t think it’s crazy that some people have questioned the seizure defence.
