Awful 😢 but rather an owner (who chose to take the risk) than a child in the home or a random person who had no choice.

I didn't like to say, but thought it.

Anyway, as you were. Nothing will happen.

But they wouldn’t hurt a fly! It’s not the breed! It’s not the breed!

Yep!

Timeforaglassofwine · 21/08/2024 17:40

Yet another one. At least its the dog's owner and not an innocent. It'll continue for the next 12 or so years until they had hopefully died out.
A friend's XLB attacked her husband in their home. Thank goodness he managed to get away with "just" facial injuries. The police had to shoot him too. He was their baby, they knew what they were doing with dogs and he had never shown aggression before. For every headline reporting a death there will be umpteen behind it with injuries and dog on dog or cat.

MyStylish40s · 21/08/2024 17:41

It’s not even surprising anymore, and that’s very scary indeed

Blackcats7 · 21/08/2024 17:43

There was one idiot on my local fb group in a thread about these poor “fur babies” suggesting a get together so owners could walk their xl bullies together for emotional support. Just what we need, a pack of them patrolling the area.
I do feel very sorry for the dogs but reality is that they have been bred for aggression/ fighting/ guarding and generally appeal to the least responsible dog owners.

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/08/2024 17:44

They are tiny little flats. Poor dog. That is no place for a large dog. No wonder he snapped.

peasandcarrots34 · 21/08/2024 17:59

Horrendous creatures and I say that as the owner of a bull breed.

I had that exact conversation at work the other day
A customer owns 3 of them-' misunderstood','harmless','would hurt a fly' and 'an undeserved bad reputation'
I pray to God,it doesn't go for any of her 3 under 7 years old children who where stood next to her
Some people shouldn't breed let alone keep their kids

Uglyandgrumpy · 21/08/2024 18:14

Why on earth does anyone still keep them? It's seems more like when rather than if every time. How many more avoidable deaths will we read about...

Oh, a good many yet. Just think of US High School massacres.

As someone else said, it’s not even shocking anymore.

cocobeaner · 21/08/2024 18:20

I'm not a dog lover in general so fair enough, but these are weapons more than they are pets. Nobody deserves to be killed but better the owner who chose to live with that dog in his home than an innocent bystander.

Absolutely. Darwinism at work.

TomatoSandwiches · 21/08/2024 18:25

I don't take any pleasure in reading these tragic tales but so long as these abominations are only taking out their owners and not innocent people/children then hopefully the stories will die out with the misguided people that suffer the consequences.

That's the conversation we've just had watching the news. Sad but a better than a child or someone not connected with the dog.

I guess that depends on if they've been groomed (sorry for the pun) under false pretences to believe that it's all in the owner's training and they wouldn't hurt a fly if properly looked after and trained and they're safe and blah blah blah.

They've become something to covet now unfortunately now they're rarer, you're the big man if you have one.

Flourpowwer · 21/08/2024 18:31

We had a one year old attacked yesterday in Ireland. They need to be destroyed.

aprilclimbs · 21/08/2024 18:31

It wasn't actually his dog despite what the report says, he was looking after it for a friend 😥 very sad.

I saw that. She even said ‘children welcome’ 🤣🤣 What could possibly go wrong?!

MortimerBeQuiet · 21/08/2024 18:34

warning, graphic details

I was genuinely shocked to read the additional details that the poor young woman killed by her XL bully on her birthday a few months ago died after her dog tore her arm off. She wasn't a tiny thing. The power in those jaws when that type of dog goes bad is just terrible. I am so glad they have been banned.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 21/08/2024 19:00

Awful!! I knew someone quite recently who was attacked by one of these dogs.
Her injuries were absolutely horrific. The dog didn't stop even after she'd lost consciousness.

She died the most awful traumatic death.
