The chat appears to have gone quiet today after the last thread filled up, so I'm making a new one for anyone who wants to come together whilst we all hold our breath hoping for a good outcome.

@AbsolutelyFuckingSick if I was Nicola or any other missing person. Personally I'd want no stone unturned.

Wow, “no stone unturned” brought back memories.

Don't be bloody ridiculous. Nobody insinuated anything of the sort.

Err, yes, they did. Read the post.

MeinKraft · 12/02/2023 18:23

There seems to be some activity this afternoon around Shard Bridge again, some clothing apparently was found in the water. Possibly belonging to Peter Baglin. Not sure how accurate these details are as you know what SM rumours are like.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 18:24

No one insinuated anything. Ironically the poster @Jourdain11 half hour ago wouldn't want to be associated with us weirdos now saying "us" on a thread she's outraged by

JaneJeffer · 12/02/2023 18:24

Just ignore the person trying to get the thread shut down please. They'll find something else to prove their superiority elsewhere.

Loads of things I’m not interested in show up in active. I scroll by. You can’t stop other people having a discussion just because you don’t like it and it’s so weird that you think you can. It’s really really rude to keep interrupting purely to say you don’t like it. You’ve said your piece.

Pinkypie86 · 12/02/2023 18:25

God this thread is too much.

I thought it might be remotely factual or relevant. But, it's neither.
It's really sad that it's turning into a bitch fest, what are you gaining?

NB is still missing and likely dead.
The likelihood is that her family won't even know the full truth which must be heartbreaking.

Plus, I think it's pretty funny that you think I am unpleasant, superior, whatever, when you've implied I'm a sad, neglected, attention-seeking alcoholic who may or may not have "ulterior motives" and is replying to my own posts.

Don't give a shit about what you are like. This thread is about Nicola. Please go away. I have reported you.

Don't be so disingenuous.

I think there are a few posters who do not want the case to get attention for various reasons. The Channel 5 prog guests made an interesting point that in the end, it is the public that will solve the crime. Since Nicola could be anywhere, that includes all of us.

And well done for insulting my English too, as a second-language speaker I find that actually hurtful.

Daisymaker · 12/02/2023 18:27

Ignore it

Do what the hell you like.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 18:28

@Gramps52 personally I wouldn't. Even if that meant people noticing things about my close one's. Unfortunately alot of missing persons/murders end up being known to the victim. Not saying that's what's going on here. But there's a reason why they suspect a partner before anyone else.

Goldpaw · 12/02/2023 18:28

Hopefully, since a new thread won't show up on active, it'll be quiet for a while.

So let’s all give up? No. A woman went missing on the school run while walking her dog. There is no explanation. We need to find out what happened, primarily for her family, but also for all of us to see if we can learn from it.

Needadoop · 12/02/2023 18:29

Inthedaaark · 12/02/2023 18:00

Hi I've read most of these threads (thankyou for your stewardship) and think i am finally clear on timeline & where broken cctv is etc. I'm not sure whether it's deemed inappropriate to pass opinion - speculate- on what happened but that's really what people are doing so I'm going to add my 3 pennyworth if I'm allowed, and happy to be shot down if there are practical impossibilities and I'm not thinking straight.
Firstly I don't believe Nicola was abducted, mainly because the time available was such a short risky window. Even though she likely followed a pattern there would be enough variation to make it very likely to be caught by other walkers.
She may have fallen in or attempted to drown herself but again since it would appear to have to have occurred between 9.20 and 9.30 and her body was not picked up by thermal imaging or visually, within 8 hrs, even if she had gone over the weir it doesn't seem likely to me. And for all the questioning of his motive PF seems credible and his judgement sound.
Nicola could conceivably have left that area and somehow gone downriver to achieve the same goal hoping her body would go unfound and I'd imagine that the reason may well be to leave her children not wondering why she had taken her life but leaving it in question at least.
There's so far no evidence of this trip and it would need a pretty cold hearted accomplice .
The only other and most likely scenario I can imagine is that for whatever reason she decided to do a runner. Her unusual - by Paul's account - actions that morning , i.e. , having the children ready and the car loaded seem to imply that she had something significant planned and ahead of it was very focussed , "housekeeping" so there were no hiccups. It may also be that she loaded the car instead of Paul - who would have normally - so she could stow in another bag containing long wellies ( she was wearing ankle height boots on cam) or other clothing.
Either way, if the dashcam footage obtained by the police goes back as far as 8.30 / 8.40 and shows her walking across the bridge with an unexpected carrier that would corroborate.
It would be essential for Nicola to have a PAYG second phone for comms with her accomplice / lover. Having walked the field, met a couple of people, logged on to her zoom meeting she would be back at the bench by 9.20. It's likely she will make contact - with whoever is in the red van off Hall lane maybe? - I wonder whether phone calls can be back triangulated to confirm if any other calls were made from the field / bench location around this time that cannot be traced to her official phone or that of witnesses, and therefore probably from a second PAYG. More corroboration if so but that may not be possible to check.
Where she could now be met without being seen is a problem and with cctv on exits to the north likely would mean she'd need to cross the river to the south & also avoiding the main road. Likeliest or physically easiest may be to go back along "towpath", & cross river on foot ( in high wellingtons ?) about 20m downstream of the weir. Just out of sight of the road , hidden by the river bend. Shallow at this time. 9.30 , the tide completely out. & that probably wasn't a coincidence. The next 250m around the bank going east would be the unnerving part , where most likely to be seen, unless it's possible to walk along the bank near the river in the trees and out of sight? Then into woodland to south of "derelict"? house and skirting the rear of St. Michaels Hall towards Hall Lane. That's where the barn is where the red van was seen.
Another possible route would be a 2 minute swim across from the bottom loop on the upper field. Not out of the question ( wetsuit ?) and from the point of view of being seen, less risky, with just 150m field crossing at the other side, to the barn. Problem there being changing / bagging / taking clothes across with her ? She's a strong swimmer, and in my books very probably alive

Great observations @Inthedaaark I agree with you 100%.

Apologies to @RafaistheKingofClay to hear that your sister also went missing. I agree with your point in isolation which questions norms, but that has to stop at some point on the scale or it would undermine the whole concept and highly effective use of criminal profiling. The example I provided of the sister was one of the several examples I gave which together point towards NB having disappeared on her own accord. You say I am way off the mark solely because of that one observation about the sister, but what about that example and all of the others together? It was the combination of all of my examples which has led me to the conclusion that she walked over other outcomes.

It is also worth noting that this is what her neighbour, Charlotte Drake, has said:

‘As neighbours and friends, we’ve all said from 11am on Day 1 when the police showed up… “She’s not in that river.”

‘My gut feeling remains the same. I honestly believe Nikki is not in the water.’

It is interesting that PA, NB's family and even her neighbour – all people who know her well, have much more local knowledge about the river, the whole village and its surroundings - don't believe she fell into the river.

Even the diver PF and a few retired detectives don't think she is in the river.

For those who are complaining that there are people close to her who are hurt by our discussions here, Charlotte Drake also said:

'When many would be sat at home “waiting for news” he [PA] is using the media exactly as it should be used, to share the facts, highlight the lack of evidence and spread the word far and wide, so that he can hopefully reach someone that knows something.'

Where on earth do you get an accusation of murder from that post????????

lemmein · 12/02/2023 18:30

Don't be so ridiculous! Nobody is not wanting the case to get attention, it's just some people cannot understand the level of obsession with this case by some of you. Some of the things mentioned on here beggar belief!

I agree with you about speculation about family members - though I would argue that regular contributors are not commenting on family at all, and those posts are being quickly deleted when they do pop up so I'd assume are being reported straightaway. I reported 2 of them last night!

What I don't agree with is the constant posts that we shouldn't be allowed to discuss the case at all, or criticise the police investigation. How the police behave in cases like this affects us all. It's in nobodies interest to let these things slide, in fact Nicolas partner believes himself she is not in the river and wants the search widened- public interest motivates the police.

If people don't like the discussion don't click on it - if they see dodgy posts report them, but ffs stop taking up entire threads saying the same shit. I'd guess there's at least 3 full threads worth of posts saying 'OMG I can't believe you're discussing this!' 🙄

If MN have an issue with it they'll remove it!

JaneJeffer · 12/02/2023 18:30

@Goldpaw unfortunately I think the disruption is purposeful for whatever reason. Hopefully they'll move along.

Rhondaa · 12/02/2023 18:30

Perhaps we should just ignore the 'ghoul fest' posters who clearly want the thread deleted.

Maybe carry on with factual and respectful comments and ignore the 'critics'.
