The chat appears to have gone quiet today after the last thread filled up, so I'm making a new one for anyone who wants to come together whilst we all hold our breath hoping for a good outcome.

Who are nightwatch?

The invisible powers at be

I'm really sick of hearing all the theories against him. Imagine being in that position. There are some truly stupid, horrible people on social media.

I can understand your perspective, but then why does society have all the true crime shows or unloved ones ect, it all links in one way or another, one makes shows, other is the public discuss the specifics

Who are nightwatch?

Overnight moderators, volunteers I assume, who can hide posts overnight for MNHQ to check. Not sure if they can access reported posts to ascertain or just keep an eye on it. I think someone explains it on the site stuff post about the last post. I didn't see post 7 before it was pulled but assume there was something to trigger it.

BeigeCar · 11/02/2023 17:41

Thanks for signposting @ofwarren , thank you for a new thread @LoveMAFS .

I saw that YouGov did a survey asking

Missing mother‑of-two Nicola Bulley disappeared on 27 January as she was walking her dog. How closely are you following this story?
yougov.co.uk/topics/media/survey-results/daily/2023/02/09/2a8de/1

I was surprised why they would track interest in the story, any ideas?

OnthePisteAgain · 11/02/2023 17:42

The last thread was pulled mainly due to people speculating about family members. If this one goes the same way, which is likely overnight then this will be zapped too.

LoveMAFS · 11/02/2023 17:43

For the person who mentioned Nicola leaving her phone on the bench upthread, I heard that the phone was found on the ground, along with the harness and that the finder put it on the bench. There's so many reports though I'm not sure what's true.

Thanks for the new thread. I agree that hopefully the posters with the inappropriate comments stay away from this one.

I didn't catch the interview but have read some articles today and from what I've read it seems Paul doesn't believe Nicola fell in the river and he wants everywhere searched ? Why hasn't this already happened does anyone know? Is it because it's not a criminal investigation ?

It was said on the tv show yesterday that it was on the bench.

ShellsPebbles · 11/02/2023 17:48

@LoveMAFS and the harness was on the embankment between the bench and the river.

TuxedoJunction · 11/02/2023 17:49

Not sure if I’ve missed this in the news, but has much been said about the Cavavan Park? I’m guessing the caravans were searched by the police at the start of her disappearance? It looked like the closest place to where they found the phone etc

kirinm · 11/02/2023 17:55

I really feel for her partner.

otherwayup · 11/02/2023 17:55

I genuinely am baffled by all these threads.

Are any of you close friends or family?
It makes me feel uncomfortable that you're all here, discussing and dissecting something that is so tragic and life changing for her actual loved ones.

I'm not surprised threads keep being removed, let's hope it continues.

Only one thread has been removed.

Yes we are all related

melonraspberry · 11/02/2023 17:59

Think it’s best we just ignore those trying to start arguments

There are a number of us that are local

Lavenderzen · 11/02/2023 18:01

Thank you for the thread and updates.
Thoughts as always with the family.

Oaktree55 · 11/02/2023 18:02

I posted on the removed thread that it’s important surely that the dog harness was going halfway down the embankment.

It seems more than likely the police are correct and this was a tragic accident.

Oaktree55 · 11/02/2023 18:03

Found not going (autocorrect)

Daydre4mer · 11/02/2023 18:04

Thing that worries me most (for the family and friends) is that they NEVER find out what happened to her. The chance of her being alive is so incredibly slim.

Activelyannoyed · 11/02/2023 18:04

I keep coming back to it, like a sore tooth that you keep poking.

I thought all along it felt staged, the phone, the lead, the harness, the dog.

if she’s not accidentally in the river, which seems vanishingly unlikely now, then it leaves two options.

she staged it to make it look like she’d drowned, and decided to disappear.

Or

someone else grabbed her and it was just left like that.

I think as much as the first is more likely in terms of planning, dogs behaviour (ie told to stay) etc, I don’t understand how you’d live after, no bank accounts, documentation etc, and it would need to be extreme for you to fake your own death and leave your kids, sibling, parents behind. You’d also need help I think.

which means if it’s the latter, then there is possibly someone out there that the public need to be aware of. And it’s critical this is resolved if this is the case.

right now I can’t see how it’s not one of these two options. If she is alive and out there, I hope she feels able to make a phone call and call off the search. If she sadly isn’t, I really hope they solve it.

but the whole she went in the water seems incredibly unlikely now.

Oaktree55 · 11/02/2023 18:07

It’s not vanishingly unlikely she drowned. It’s actually very likely. Despite scan guy’s assertions most drowning victims aren’t located quickly (or ever) in tidal areas.

Why does the harness being halfway down the embankment point to anything in particular?

The area of river by the bench isn't tidal. If Nicola entered an area that is tidal, the main hypothesis being pursued by the police is completely wrong.
