This is good news, surely, especially if it means the horrible egotist John Humphries is retiring.

Evan Davies is clever, enthusiastic, and really cute!

i adore him, with his wonky eyes. he's like a lovely gonk.

nangnangnang · 24/11/2007 19:17

Fraid we're stuck with Humphreys but at least his miserablism will be balanced by lovely sunny Evan. It's Sarah Montague I could do without - why is she so angry all the time?

edam · 24/11/2007 19:19

Agree Evan is A Good Thing and glad to hear this. Sarah too plummy and seems to find everything amusing.

Saturn74 · 24/11/2007 19:19

Oh.

I have snurked at Evan Davies in the past.

But now Threadworm has highlighted his novelty keyring possibilities.
And Aitch has pointed out his gonkiness........

Threadworm · 24/11/2007 20:08

Oh I hadn't noticed his wonky eyes. Still adore, him with his shiney-eyed love of economics. Agree Sarah M is also horrible. Love James Naughtie.

Half the time I want to throttle Humphries.

really? you love JN? i always think he's a lightweight and a dither.

Upwind · 25/11/2007 09:37

must start watching the Today programme, Evan Davies speaks more sense than most...

SEXY!!!

Scanner · 26/11/2007 21:11

I'm with you, Evan is a dish however - rather embarassingly I find Mr Humphreys rather attractive too .

inamuckingfuddle · 26/11/2007 21:21

oh he is lovely and so good at explaining complicated economics stuff that I can't usually understand I also can't stand Sarah M, thinks she's great, but like Humphries and Naughtie

maximummummy · 26/11/2007 21:34

oh thank god i thought i must be some kind of weirdo freak to fancy him

margoandjerry · 26/11/2007 21:39

Not a weirdo freak - just barking up the wrong tree iykwim.

Love Evan too and know two people who have done work experience with him and they both adore him and say he's lovely.

Won't be able to listen to him though as cannot stand Today because of Humphreys shouting and harrumphing.

I listen to R5 where Nicky Campbell is actually really good and not as annoying as he is on Watchdog. And this is the clincher - he laughs at jokes made by women (specifically made by his co-host Shelagh). You all know how rare that is and how ability to laugh at jokes made by women is a key indicator of decentness in men.

Anchovy · 26/11/2007 21:45

If you are fancying Evan you are barking up the wrong tree.

Please don't make me repeat my very embarassing Evan Davies experience (in a nutshell - saw him in the street - thought he was one of DH's mates because they all look like that - had a conversation with him on that basis which culminated in me touching his arm and saying "we'll be in touch, ok?")

I'm also a 5-live in the morning girl - nothing like a bit of footie news to leaven complex international situations.

policywonk · 26/11/2007 21:48

LOL at anchovy and at 'novelty keyring'

You know Paxman calls him 'Twinkletits' 'cos he's got pierced nipples.

Humphrys is a great big ball of idiocy IMO

policywonk · 26/11/2007 21:51
Threadworm · 26/11/2007 21:52

Pierced nipples!

That's where I can attach the keys, then.

StressTeddy · 26/11/2007 21:53

You do know that the beautiful Evan is ahem....gay don't you??

Threadworm · 26/11/2007 21:53

I sat next to Paxman at a swimming pool cafe once.

OP posts:
policywonk · 26/11/2007 21:55

Did he ask you 32 times if he could borrow the sugar?

maximummummy · 26/11/2007 21:56

oh so i'm barking up the wrong tree - it's ok i doubt i'd ever really meet him
but knowing he eas pierced nipps makes me even more attracted . . .

Threadworm · 26/11/2007 21:59

My stance on sugar borrowing in swimming pool cafes is a matter of public record. It would be a distraction from the real issues if I were to answer that question, Jeremy.

OP posts:
margoandjerry · 26/11/2007 21:59

and a pierced something else apparently

LOL at policywonk's spelling triumph.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 26/11/2007 22:03

Ooooh I love Evan Davies. I also like the economics editor from Newsnight - Stephanie Flanders - can't they put her on Today too? They would make a good team.

policywonk · 26/11/2007 22:03

I hate to say it, but Humphrys should really be the patron of Pedants' Corner. He did write that exceptionally bad-tempered book about how misplaced apostrophes will kill us all and render our children infertile, or something.

policywonk · 26/11/2007 22:04

Oh can't we just have Jane Garvey EVERYWHERE please
