Neat allusion Smile.

Lweji · 11/08/2016 13:26

He will sort out the crooks, the puppets, the lackeys and the corrupt officials paid by lobbyists

Oh, dear, that doesn't sound good to himself or his friends, does it?
Grin

ZansSerif · 11/08/2016 13:38

No, he says he'll sort out those things. It's not easy to actually do and he isn't even saying how he'll do it really. Much like "I'll build a wall and make Mexico pay." Yes sounds impressive (if you're a xenophobic bigot) but think about what that would actually involve and what a massive headache it would be. Multiply that by all these sweeping changes he is simply reeling off as if you just do them by sending off a memo.

"end the corruption"
"bring jobs back"
"sort Isis out"

How? If these things could be done just like that, they would have been. The west could easily start a massive ground war to take on Isis, but hasn't history shown how badly that goes and the mess it leaves?

If America wants all the jobs to be done by Americans, that can't just be switched overnight. You need infrastructure, education, and a totally different world economy.

It's "common sense" that he's talking shite and hasn't a clue how to even start to do these things.

Lweji · 11/08/2016 13:43

'He flip flops daily. (...) Yet you think that that's OK for the most powerful position in the world?')

It is irrelevant what I think, it is up to the American people to decide.

That's just evading the question.
Do you think it's OK?
Do you think any minimally rational person can think that's OK for a national leader?
Do you think that's good for any country?
Would you vote for such a person if you could?

Roussette · 11/08/2016 13:45

Yes... and he will abolish the Environmental Agency in US because global warming is of course just a hoax, and he's single handedly going to bring back the coal industry (despite a worldwide price slump and availability of natural gas!) Oh, and he plans to cut the education budget, build dat wall, and then there's his deportation plan for 11M or was it 30M people... can't remember!

Duck claig, you nearly got hit on the head by a flying pig!

JudyCoolibar · 11/08/2016 13:50

'How is that going to work when he's on the international stage and there is no consistency? '

The world's political class will have to learn to deal with it.

Or how about three other possibilities:

(1) He accepts that he is totally incapable of acting as President because he has no credibility whatsoever and bows out;

(2) The American electorate decides that it is not going to be so bloody stupid as to vote for a lying bigot who can't keep a consistent position from one day to the next.

(3) The world's political classes, including Congress, decides that it will ignore the fool in the White House who will become nothing more than a powerless puppet.

Lweji · 11/08/2016 13:53

I've just had a thought.
Considering how much he's changed his opinions and keeps changing them, as well as his age, do you think he might have dementia?
(Inspired by at least another thread)

Lweji · 11/08/2016 13:57

Also, considering he only wants to ban Muslims from countries with terrorism, does that mean Brits, French, Belgians, German and Spanish passport holders would have to demonstrate that they are not Muslim to enter the US?
Grin

Globetrotter100 · 11/08/2016 13:59

Lweji Grin like a Bible-quiz kinda thing you mean?

roarfeckingroar · 11/08/2016 13:59

No fan of Trump but I think people are being hysterical and he meant they could use their votes.

Roussette · 11/08/2016 14:02

Possible Llewj but I think it's a more likely meglomaniac syndrome.scenario.

I keep thinking of a villain in a Bond film, the blond baddie in Skyfall maybe Grin

Lweji · 11/08/2016 14:10

like a Bible-quiz kinda thing you mean?

Or like the other insightful questions put on US Visa applications:

‘Do You Seek to Engage in Terrorist Activities While in the United States?’

(actually, I don't know if this is still true)

No more Visa Waiver Program for those countries, presumably.

Finally, I'd think someone so unstable must really have some form of dementia (or some other mental health issue, yes).

Marmaduchess · 11/08/2016 14:13

I've been of the opinion for some time that he's actually trying to throw this fight. He's saying more and more ludicrous things in the hope of throwing it, but instead, his supporters lap it up.

There is a view that he has always been a shill candidate to give credibility to the elites choice, Clinton.

This latest "gaff" gives credibility to that view.

Globetrotter100 · 11/08/2016 14:14

I agree with the megalomaniac syndrome theory 100%. He's a classic narc:

DSM-5 criteria for narcissistic personality disorder include these features:

  • Having an exaggerated sense of self-importance
  • Expecting to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
  • Exaggerating your achievements and talents
  • Being preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate
  • Believing that you are superior and can only be understood by or associate with equally special people
  • Requiring constant admiration
  • Having a sense of entitlement
  • Expecting special favors and unquestioning compliance with your expectations
  • Taking advantage of others to get what you want
  • Having an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others
  • Being envious of others and believing others envy you
  • Behaving in an arrogant or haughty manner

He's getting off big time on seeing how many gullible underlings he can recruit to his psycho-fest. Unfortunately, it's party time Confused

I hope Gary Johnson tips into the debates. He's a true libertarian, great politician and will serve a lot of anti-Clinton voters' needs without them needing to sell their country and souls to the devil. We'll see.

Lweji · 11/08/2016 14:15

Welcome Mrs Clinton, I've been expecting you.

Roussette · 11/08/2016 14:23

Love it Llewj! Grin Grin

OrsonWellsHat · 11/08/2016 15:13

Globetrotter I was thinking along the same lines. In my humble opinion I consider Politics to be littered with narcisstic's, sociopaths and psychopaths.

meddie · 11/08/2016 16:54

roarfeckinroar How do you come to that conclusion. He said that if hilary gets in the 2nd amendment folk can do something about it. That can only mean one thing surely as their vote would be useless if she is already in power?

LineyReborn · 11/08/2016 17:47

Exactly, meddie. The scenario is, she's already in power. He then says, 'I don't know'. He's not saying that about voting ffs. He's talking about post-election 2nd amendment agency, ie arms-bearing action.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/08/2016 17:55

and he's pushing the Obama being the founder of ISIS even further. cbs news

LineyReborn · 11/08/2016 18:12

I think he is very seriously unwell.

Lweji · 11/08/2016 18:57

I wonder if it's possible to impeach a candidate. Surely there are limits to what one can say. Or would that warrant a law suit?

TwoLeftSocks · 11/08/2016 20:02

Who wants to play 'Trump's Next Big Idea'?

Rules are that you make predictions on what you think he's going to spout next. If you're vaguely right you get minus one point, if you're super on its minus two points. Working in minuses as really there are no winners here.

My predictions:

  • Muslims to be banned from owning guns, rules to be relaxed for everyone else,
  • The US could make some really good trade deals in nuclear weaponry but they'd only sell to people Trump trusts, therefore making the world's safer,
  • The UN line their blue berets and helmets with tin foil to stop the messages from space, didn't you know they're all aliens?
  • Atheists to have their social security suspended until they renounce the devil,
  • Hillary is Assad,
  • I am Jesus.
LineyReborn · 11/08/2016 20:07

When he learns where the fucking Crimea is, he'll somehow compare himself to either a) Winston Churchill, or b) Mel Gibson.

He will attempt to ascend to heaven at some point in early November with his tiny palms outstretched.

TwoLeftSocks · 11/08/2016 20:12

A bit like this liney?
