Good thought, Dowager - maybe he is doing a Boris & this has all got out of hand for him......watching closely.....

WeekendAway · 10/08/2016 07:57

I think we are all secretly hoping someone will assassinate him. I can just imagine the collective sigh of relief that would go out across the world upon that news. I can't see anyone baying for the assassins head on a stick, can you? I know justice would have to be served but it would be served pretty reluctantly I think.

I can just imagine the police chase now. 'Quick! There he goes! Did we Lose him? Ah damn, we lost him. Never mind.'

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2016 08:04

I don't think he is trying to throw the election, I think he feels immensely powerful and untouchable.

Roussette · 10/08/2016 08:06

Oh, he isn't trying to throw the election, I don't think. His ego is too big, he's never wrong, he never backs out of anything - it would totally go against the grain. He wants to win, end of. Scary.

JedRambosteen · 10/08/2016 08:10

He wants to win, but does he want to actually do the job?

HPFA · 10/08/2016 08:11

It's getting to the stage where you really think that anyone voting for him must have no sense of moral decency. I try not to judge people by their politics (although fail like everyone else) but if you vote for him after this you are deficient in some way.

Please someone reassure me Clinton will win

As the polls stand it looks pretty dire for Trump. The polls could be wrong - supporters of populists like Trump always claim there is a massive groundswell of support not being picked up by the polls. However, the reputable polls in the US have a pretty good track record. Trump gets most of his support from white working class men. His ratings with women are poor and his ratings with minorities (which make up a substantial proportion of the electorate) are disastrous. That makes it near impossible for him to win some of the states he needs.

With nearly three months until election day it is still possible it could all change. But as things stand it looks like Clinton will win. Not that she's a terribly attractive candidate either but she is, in my view, the lesser of two evils.

StealthPolarBear · 10/08/2016 08:24

Thank you prh

StealthPolarBear · 10/08/2016 10:06

I can't believe this has got so little coverage. He's being treated as a stupid young boy. Which would be fine if he weren't potentially about to lead the us.

I'm amazed at the number of people who're convinced that it's all rigged, Hillary's buying votes, etc.

Doesn't say much about American democracy, if so.

There is astonishingly little coverage about it at the moment - perhaps when the US wake up again there will be more.

JudyCoolibar · 10/08/2016 10:44

His problem is that even if he tries to say that he meant that people should use their vote, his followers are fanatical enough to take the more obvious meaning and try to follow through on it. It would be an utterly irresponsible thing for any candidate to say, but for someone who knows perfectly well that his followers are capable of taking him seriously it is perilously close to direct incitement to murder.

NotYoda · 10/08/2016 11:05

Yes Judy

He has no judgment.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 10/08/2016 11:09

I've been asking for months if anyone else thought there was actually something wrong with him aside from being a dick. It's nice to know others agree!
I don't think he'll win, but if he does he's going to have a mighty hard time with other world leaders. They actually are politicians for one. They're not going to treat him with awe he thinks he deserves.

ZansSerif · 10/08/2016 11:09

Urgh he's disgusting.

The worst part is that awful smirking, responsibility-dodging way he does it by making a suggestion and then saying phrases like "I don't know" and "you tell me". He's a master of nasty, manipulative hate speech dressed up as a bit of a joke. Yuck yuck yuck.

The answer is a used threatening language/suggested a threat but did it in such a way that he can claim he didn't. It reminds me of some types of emotional abusers.

NotYoda · 10/08/2016 11:18

Special

If you google it, there are these discussions but some of them suggest it is demeaning for people with mental health problems to keep labelling him as "crazy".

I am not so sure. I'd love a psychological explanation for him.

But the more worrying part is the people who can't see that his utterances aren't rational, informed, practical or consistent

NotYoda · 10/08/2016 11:19

Zans

I didn't want to lead in his looks, but yes, he is vile. The way he talks with that prissy little mouth and the hand gesture

ZansSerif · 10/08/2016 11:22

It's not his looks per se, but the smirking. Grrrrrrrrr!

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 10/08/2016 11:26

I'll say it again. Bush was stupid. But Trump is unstable and downright hateful. He seems to really, really REALLY hate women, African Americans, Latinos... Basically anyone who isn't a white man.

He's great at shouting slogans but he is not a politician. He knows nothing --Jon Snow== He's the ultimate mansplainer.

He knows Hillary is going to win so he's trying to sabotage her presidency before it's even began. The comments about it being rigged (knowing America's history, he knew idiots would panic) and now he's gotten so desperate he's pulled out the gun card.

I think he showed his true colours years ago, with the amount of money he spent slandering Obama, demanding his birth certificate, then when he finally saw it, tlling everyone it was fake.

He's like a toddler. He is the centre of the universe and if he feels like knocking down his blocks - in this case, the blocks are people - he knocks them down. If he wants a cuddle - Tell me how great I am - he demands it. Say we took away everything we know about him and what he's said. His temperament is simply not suited to politics. 'I want it, so give it to me' isn't going to work with the rest of the world. Or Congress. Or the Senate.

Says a lot that he has the amount of support he has though.

HPFA · 10/08/2016 11:27

Just in case anyone's in doubt:

Second Amendment People is pretty much a term for people who are very supportive of the right to bear arms and almost certainly going to own a good collection. So translated his comment reads

"If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although people who own guns , maybe there is, I don’t know,"

If you think that is not a direct threat of murder, you are a moron. Or morally retarded. Probably both.

Roussette · 10/08/2016 11:27

This made me very happy. I'm sure it sums him up in every which way! (Don't worry about clicking on the link. It is HuffingtonPost and quite safe)

Brave woman. The threats she received for this and the banning on the sale of the portrait were incredible.

Warning, as it says on there. What you see can't be unseen!

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 10/08/2016 11:28

Not Sorry, I didn't know. I have quite severe MH issues myself, so I know how it feels when people insist on using the wrong terminology,

But the more worrying part is the people who can't see that his utterances aren't rational, informed, practical or consistent

Agreed. I've never seen supporters for a Prime Minister/President act the way his followers do. It's very cultish.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 10/08/2016 11:30

HPFAn I'm really happy you started this thread and you seem lovely, but can you please not use the word retarded? It's a word that's shouted at my DS1 in hate, it's the Disablist equivalent of the N-word.
