A new thread following on from the previous one in Chat here

OP posts:

I have to say that as amusing as the PM and the pig story is, I'd rather the media focussed on this instead - children who were abused and are still alive today, rather than a pig who died 20-odd years ago.

staverton · 22/09/2015 15:12

The Met investigation into "Nick"'s allegations area still very much ongoing. It's just the RW press trying to discredit him.
It is possible that "Darren" is a fantasist and unfortunately some people will come forward with made up allegations.
I have faith in Lowell Goddard and the panel and even though it will take a long time, I think the truth will out.

Thanks again to everyone keeping the issue alive. Lumpy, the article from Pakistan was just awful - yet again, more efforts going into diminishing the victims than stopping perpetrators.

I'm normally quite hardened to this stuff, but every so often it really gets to me that the thing is so damn prevalent and continues practically untouched Angry

lastuseraccount123 · 24/09/2015 18:43

yes. all we can do is keep bringing it up.

GRAH.

hackmum · 26/09/2015 15:26

I was just going to post that. Must have been a Staffordshire MP - I wonder who? (Probably better not to post answers.)

AHypnotistCollector · 03/10/2015 15:13

Lord Janner has been found unfit to stand trial. Instead there will be a trial of the facts.

Panorama tonight: The VIP Paedophile Ring: What's the Truth ? 10.35 BBC1

redshoeblueshoe · 06/10/2015 20:33

claig- that's so depressing.

claig · 06/10/2015 20:43

Yes, very depressing.

redshoeblueshoe · 07/10/2015 06:50

Radio 4 this morning the Met have issued a very strongly worded statement i.e. this programme has been very unhelpful.

The BBC did nothing about the child abuse going on within the BBC. Do they think if they pretend nothing every happened people will forget about Savile and Hall ?

Grazia1984 · 07/10/2015 07:49

Panorma has done a pretty good job. We need to be totally objective and look at all evidence without fear or favour but apologising when people are falsely accused as poor Brittan was and went to his grave not having been told of the problems over the so-called evidence.

Scaredycat3000 · 07/10/2015 15:09

Well that was an absolute farce. Funnily enough adults who spent most of their childhood being abused by all and sundry tend to have a high chance of spending their lives trying to black out reality with any combination of substances and fantasies. No wonder it's easy to dismiss them as fantasists and unreliable witnesses.
I was in the shadows of Dolphin square, long before Savile died, when an adult who grew up in care homes casually commented that you knew who the pedophiles were and avoided them, like that was normal.

Poor Brittan was not falsely accused- that's one thing I'm sure of

Really? When the person who made the accusation says it was false? So what is the basis for your belief?

Grazia1984 · 07/10/2015 19:26

Then it becomes the lizard thing really doesn't it?

People are pretty easy to manipulate. I should form my own cult one day.

Luckily people don't run the Government so we remain safe from the scare mongers although I am not saying no child abuse should be investigated. It just needs to be done properly and with good evidence otherwise we ruin justice for victims as said the man on Radio 4 today in an organisation dedicated to stopping it.

lastuseraccount123 · 07/10/2015 20:55

I don't consider hte BBC a reliable source, bearing in mind it's part of the establishment and protected Savile for years..and years...and years..

lastuseraccount123 · 07/10/2015 20:57

I think it's interesting, grazia, that you consider the BBC objective STILL.

applecatchers36 · 07/10/2015 22:44

YOu cannot libel the dead so post away but I have seen no credible evidence yet. There are a lot of lies going around on line which people are taking as truth on line.

The BBC is one of the most truthful respected news bodies on the planet.

It is the gullible proletariat whose views are manipulated by those with an agenda on line who are also victims here.
