oh yeah bet they're living a real 'cushy' life, always watching over their shoulder, having to lie about who they are, and about their past so they don't get lynched.
What's the point of sending people to jail (who then serve their time) if people then say "well I thnk they shoud have got x,y,z" - and the best one "I don't care if they've served their time they still deserve x,y,z".
That's the whole point of the justice system - isn't it? They charged, found guilty and serve their time (perhaps not as long as some think they should = but they ARE in prison -
which is anything but a 'cushy' life - anyone fancy living in their house/garden for the next 10-20yrs - never being allowed to step outside the front door, only having friends or family over for short periods of time (not at YOUR choosing), and them only being allowed to see you in the one roomm, no picking up the phone to call a friend every time your feeling down........and then lets not forget the guilt that many criminals DO feel, the despair at the mess they've landed themselves in, the isolation.
What do you want - to go back to the 'old' days - of a dark cell, rats on the floor, 'hole' in the corner for the toilet, no visitors, no bed etc etc???
I bet lots of you will say "YES" to things like this............but then how many of us have children. I'm sure 99.99999999% of our children will grow up and never have any trouble with the law. But I bet there's going to be at least a tiny percentage who (sadly) will - would you want your child (in 10,15,20yrs time) to be kept in conditions like they were kept in over 100yrs ago?
The Justice System (while we may not agree with many of the sentences) is there for a reason - to punish criminals.
