Welcome one and all!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on February 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Hello! Am already in PJs. DS and I came home, straight in pjs, then had ice cream and hot chocolate.

Now, fingers in ears.....AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Sorry - but needed to get that out. I spent ages yesterday doing my job application (internal promotion) so I could e-mail it to my line manager so that he could sign it and leave it ready for me when I got in this morning. Got in today - couldn't find it & no e-amil from him to say where it was He came in earlier than usual as he knew there was a problem - he'd received the e-mail but couldn't open the attachment. Mailed me back but my internet was playing up so didn't know. Got DH to bring me laptop to work on HIS way to work + dongles etc (its a government laptop so loads of security on it). Tried and tried to convert it to something the PC would read - failed.
Tried to connect laptop to printer - no! (Different government department )
Ended up copying from laptop onto PC to get it done.
Thankfully it needed delivering on my way to the station tonight so it got done and before the 5pm deadline
SO now exhausted, hence PJs. Think I will go to bed v soon after DS.

That was my day

Wine is open.

That should have been 'e-mail'

Thank you dwmummy!

am half way through mount wash more, mount ironing is growing, but so is mount foldedclothes. ds is going away to his dad's tomo for best part of week so he will have his stuff shoved into bag to go. I will then put away school uniforms and anything else of his, before mine.
Most of a week in piece and quiet in the house - it could get a bit spooky and there is a ton of paperwork to do so planning on being productive.

it half term folks....

yipee.......

oh and if you need a giggle lego website, products, indian jones, at the bottom click watch the legendary movie. tis a hoot.

right bedtime. night all.

MiniMarmite · 12/02/2010 21:21

Evening All

I feel that I can legitimately post today as I have done some proper housework type things like wash the floor and vacuum. I am now going to do some IRONING and then go to bed.

Happy Friday ladies and have a good weekend.

swanriver · 12/02/2010 22:49

You did it Droitwich - you certainly deserved the pjs and hotchoc,
and Ellie I'm too superstitious to even make lists at the moment - trying to do things when I trip over them iysim
Glad it has been peaceful this week Theory

not much cop today,
made some cakes for school cake sale and had to buy them back [humpff] dcs were impressed though
took some books out for ds's space project [we'll have to toss for who actually does it]
did a bit of work in school in library
cooked some new food - now feel overpowered by garlic
felt a bit ill really so just stared at mess balefully, and tried to be nice to kids

now trying to make sense of kitchen

tomorrow's a lovely peaceful day so may make more headway if dh looks after children a bit [ever hopeful]
so far have put spices back and food in fridge - a start

swanriver · 12/02/2010 22:50

oh sorry - next week will be peaceful for you Theory but anyway still good...

MrsDinky · 12/02/2010 23:03

Evening all,

Well, survived a whole day in the house with the 2 DCs without shouting too much, in fact they were pretty good.

I haven't decluttered my handbag as I haven't used it, so I forgot.

But have rearranged the furniture in both DCs rooms, which I have been wanting to do for ages, they both look bigger (the rooms that is not the DCs) and both DCs are pleased with them. In the process gave them both a reasonable tidy up and clean of grotty skirting boards.

Managed to clean the kitchen floor too, I have done 4 out of 5 missions this week, a record for me (mind you I've only been out twice apart from school runs and Sainsburys).

DWM - hope you are fast asleep by now
Swanriver - hope you feel better tomorrow
WCTR - good work on the washing mountain
Mmango - glad the coffee beans worked, will remember that, have used bicarb before but not good on dark carpets or (presumably) car interiors.

See you all tomorrow.

missbennett · 12/02/2010 23:10

Evening all! Had just settled down to catch up and post when DD1 texted to say she needed picking up. So now is very late and I should be in bed

Well done on sorting out your application dwm and sorry it was so stressful.
Well done on surviving ellie. I think that is a great achievement any day

In fact, well done everybody - seems to have been successful all round by the looks of it

I have done the mission and DRUM ROLL sorted out a kitchen cupboard! Fellow flyers, you would be proud! Gone are all the tatty bits of plastic saved 'just in case' - you know, pudding basins etc, some very old and distinctly grotty water bottles and general mismatched tubs. everything else has been washed and the cupboard cleaned. looks lovely And it only took me an hour - so just as the fat fairy ordered! So I'm feeling smug. There's still a lot to do but that is a start!

See you all tomorrow - it's the weekend!

droitwichmummy · 13/02/2010 06:51

Good morning! Its Family Fun Day today. (Can't remember who was asking about the daily focus, but here it is!)

Today's babystep is to do a mission

If you feel the urge to join the fat fairy's declutter olympics (yes, really) the link is here. Let me know if you would like it everyday for the next weeks

We've finished in the kitchen for now - its the bathroom and one extra room next week. I am thinking about tackling the spare room (again) anyone want to join me?

OP posts:
WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/02/2010 08:02

oh that is fab. i need to deal with the bathrooms. Today is pack and drive day. think might take ds to the fish shop in derby. so will have a nice time watching him and dad bond over fish and maggots before sending him on his way. At least the fairy fat knows nothing about bait fridges and i have absolutely nothing to do with them at the mo...if ds ends up with one he can clean it out himself.

I like the fact that there are exercise tips for the durations. that is quite good, might try to do something. And i need to clen my car out anyway.

Right must focus
To do
get up
washing 1 - dry
washing 2 - on
pack ds' stuff
sort out stuff for tip run
clean out car
pack car
drive to drop off ds plus return journey
do something fun with ds
put folded clothes away
shine sink, and benches!
Mop floor in kitchen
Hoover lounge
early night

droitwichmummy · 13/02/2010 08:06

Coffee just brewed chaos. Crumpets too this morning - DS is on his fourth but if you hurry up there might be a couple left

Today:
dressed
swimming
to parents with siblings + families for the day (well it is family day)
Bed

I have cleared the bombsite which was the kitchen when I came down this morning. DW & WM on and rubbish in the bin rather than all over kitchen (WHY can't DH put it in the bin)

OP posts:
WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/02/2010 08:26

sounds lovely, thanks. off to drag my lazy tush out of bed. Have a good day all!

StillCounting · 13/02/2010 08:37

Morning everyone

Thank you for steps and much-needed coffee MummyD (friends here until very late last night and ate/drank much more than intended - felt I was going down with a cold beforehanded but better now so it must have been kill or cure) still rather kerknackered though!!

Very busy in real-life and did hardly any Flying yesterday and didn't manage to get back on here Thurs night. Kitchen and downstairs clean and lovely and fortnightly ironing lady has done her stuff (garland with flowers and kiss feet emotion) so things not too bad.

MAster bedroom and home office still dire though

dh has taken pity on me and run dd to ballet - going to drink more coffee and get up slowly - catch up in detail later!!

In the meantime - is that Swan I see? Brill, you are back!!!

Well done for getting application in on time MummyD despite all the trials and tribulations - good luck with it!!

Good luck with the diplomacy PA - hope you get a clear answer soon

Hello to everyone else but catch up properly later on

MrsDinky · 13/02/2010 08:42

Morning all,

Tea made, remains of last nights washing up done , kids having breakfast in front of the telly .

MissB - well done! I systematically decluttered my kitchen last October, and boy has it made a difference. Everything has a home, masses of old crap was thrown away, lovely.

I'm probably on stay at home duty with contagious child again this morning at least, she looks much better now, am going to be just generally hotspotting and doing odd jobs (well it is the weekend).

See you later.

elliepac · 13/02/2010 09:42

Morning all. Today is the first day of mammoth tasj of getting back on track for dd's party so big list. dh taken rugrats out for a couple of hours so am all set to go. list looks like this:-
tidy/clean living room, dining room/kitchen/hallway
s/s bathroom
begin to tackle washing
that should do for today, tomorrow is upstairs.

Have a good day everyone

PositiveAttitude · 13/02/2010 09:48

Morning all.

I am sat here with a delicious warm chocolate muffin (thanks to MrsDinky for the recipe). Yum Yum. Plenty cooling for everyone.

Today has had a bit of a weird start. For some reason I am feeling really restless. I cant sit still, I cant read I need to be up and doing. BUT I cant do the kitchen because the DW is on and will need unloading and reloading for me to be able to clear everything else, so while I was downstairs on my own I decided to cook the muffins instead. DS always does all the "nice" cooking in the house, I only seem to do the boring meals. So quietly did it all, then suddenly DH, DD2 & DS awake by the smell of cooking! DS is cross with me for doing them without him!
Hopefully my restlessness will continue and I will get all the washing sorted and the kitchen spotless - although I tend to think it may be very short lived!

Well done MissB on a tidy cupboard. Nice feeling isn't it.

Not heard from the embassies yet about our holiday, but received a thick letter from the Russian consulate saying they need us to renew DD4s Russian passport. Another mountain of hoops for us to jump through and the cost is stupid!
Anyway, holiday is booked, so fingers crossed it gets sorted soon.

Right, off to take DS to tennis.
Into town for lots of little irritating jobs that I have been procrastinating over for far too long.

Have a good weekend everyone.

swanriver · 13/02/2010 10:39

I felt like that two or three days ago Positive possibly as a result of watching George Clooney in Up in the Air, couldn't sleep kept pacing like some tiger on speed,

but today alas....

the children seem to be organising Family Fun Day singlehandedly, and are putting on a show
dh has let me sleep in, in preparation for going to the tip

Still Counting the boys should have done ballet, they dance like strange hippotami, whereas dd still has an ur-memory of wavingher arms poetically

missbennett · 13/02/2010 13:30

Hello everybody!

Hope you are all having a nice Saturday? Family Fun Day? Well, DD1 is going to visit sick friend in hospital, DD2 is enjoying wearing her new Hollister gear but doesn't want to go out and DH has refused offer of trip to Garden Centre as rugby on! Hah! Maybe watch a film later

For today:
Fat club - half pound lost
morning routine - yup - and it is routine now
home blitz - partially - not hoovered but done the rest
washing - in a minute
menu plan - done
shop - not done
plan tomorrow's Sunday School - done
prepare for above - got to get some stuff with the shopping
sort car - maybe but it's cold!
bottle bank and library - later
another kitchen cupboard? Not sure, don't want to peak too soon
make mrsd's muffins - when I've been shopping
make friend's lentil curry in slow cooker for tea - as above!

Think that's about it for now! See you all later

PositiveAttitude · 13/02/2010 14:36

Hey, MissB are our lives a mirror image? - well some, i have not been so good as you on the fat club! I am still the fat without the club!

DH has got me DVDing the rugby while he is out cycling with DS. So I have an evening of him catching up with 6 hours of rugby and endless more hours of football!
I have made the muffins .....yum.
Just about to make the curry for tonight and lump it all in slow cooker.
Way too cold to tidy the car. Bloomin thing wouldn't go this morning. It hates the cold as much as I do. Oh how I wish I lived in the Carribean.........

MrsD - Is that a final death gasp from Pompey? - Had to watch this while eating lunch!

Right off I go! Hi Ho Hi Ho!!

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/02/2010 19:33

oh no PA - just a bit of local sticky the knife in. At least if the worst happens now we can feel good about kicking southampton out of that comp. !

doing quite well, actually was doing better until ds called. Ex is being a bit of a prat, his mum is meddling and ds is a bit upset. it is not good. I am getting the impression that as much as ex wants ds about he is hard work and he'd rather be with his girl friend hopefully it is just the drive talking. Hoping ds has a good day tomo. need to be uber productive tomo as i can see having to get the boy early if it doesnt improve. Not chill for now off to do a bit more tidying before a soak in the bath and bed.

Might come back to post a done list later. but might not. depends on whether i CBA. Have a good one.

swanriver · 13/02/2010 19:44

well I've been in a bad mood today, but

have done
cleared rubbish out of garden - piles of leaves, old pots, swept terrace, old saucepans, rusting toys and put in car so much for cleanng out car [poor car]
didn't quite manage to get to tip in time though

once I'm out in garden I feel miles better, alas had to press on with rubbish disposal, and not able to potter

made tomorrow's lunch
lots of music practice
made attempt to start ds1's space project

MissBennett I'm just starting to do first communion classes (I'm still trainee helper - someone else leading) any tips for dealing with 7/8 year olds and getting them enthusiastic and involved? We are doing bit of role play but sometimes becomes a bit choatic..

MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 13/02/2010 21:00

Evening all,

Sorry I've not had time to read how every one is doing but hope you are all ok.

Today I have nearly caught up with the washing up. Probaly got another hour and we will be all done.

I have also delivered 100 credit union leaflets today with the help of the 3 DC, so it took me twice as long as normal to do.

Had a couple of hours kip this afternoon

Cooked dinner

And that is it for today

Sleep tight all.

MrsDinky · 13/02/2010 22:21

Evening all,

Well, didn't put it on my list today, but commandeered the best seat in the house and the Sky box from 12.30-2.30, to watch my beloved Pompey get a result they could hardly dare hope for WCTR - agree totally, if it all ends this week what a way to go! DH's team won too, hoping they don't meet in the next round for the sake of marital harmony.

Not much else got done today TBH, and I am exhausted, so going to sign-off now and see you all tomorrow.

missbennett · 13/02/2010 23:19

How does it get so late? Just watched a film with DDs but it was longer than I thought - must have been good though as I didn't go to sleep!

swan tomorrow we are doing stuff about seeing the glory or something - Moses up a mountain. So we are making 'bling' crosses - cardboard, covered with foil and stick on jewels - then, if we are feeling brave, they will all have a candle to hold for the prayers so their faces light up But depends how brave we feel! I find anything that involves sticking, glueing, more sticking oh and food always goes down well!

PA hope your muffins and curry worked well - my muffins were lovely, curry less successful as used green lentils so was a bit watery - but all plates clean Gave up idea of car!

I have today:
Fat club - half pound lost
morning routine - yup - and it is routine now
home blitz - partially - not hoovered but done the rest
washing - in a minute - done
menu plan - done
shop - notdone done
plan tomorrow's Sunday School - done
prepare for above - got to get some stuff with the shopping - done
sort car - maybe but it's cold! Fat chance!
bottle bank and library - later - done
another kitchen cupboard? Not sure, don't want to peak too soon - oh yes, and she scores! Another kitchen cupboard clean and junk free
make mrsd's muffins - when I've been shopping - delicious - both cooked and uncooked
make friend's lentil curry in slow cooker for tea - as above! - done and eaten!

So all things considered not bad. And Wales won the Rugby

Off to bed now, night all.

elliepac · 14/02/2010 07:50

Morning all. Very productive day yesterday. managed to get all downstairs tidy and clean-ish and my sink is properly shiny for the first time in weeks! Today i plan to tackle upstairs so list looks like this:-

simple really!

Have a good day everyone.
