How many times do your los wear their pjs?

Having just read the pending pile thread, I wondered how many times your LOs wear their pjs before they are "dirty"?

DTs are grubby little mites and crawl around so their sleepsuits/pjs get worn just once, but dd who is 4 is much cleaner and less of a floor-roller so she wears her 2, sometimes 3 nights before they are dirty/a bit stinky.

Is this a slatternly way to live? Should they have clean pjs every night? Surely not...

DD is 4 and wears her nightie for one or two nights.

harpsiheraldangelssing · 10/12/2008 20:02

once
they eat breakfast in them

Geepers · 10/12/2008 20:03

child on lap so poor typing, sorry. I live in a bungalow so I don't have to traipse up and downstairs with stuff which helps, plus at least half the time my DH will put things away (usually when the pile is about to topple over!)

never realised I was so much of a slattern, after confessing how often (or not) Ds had his pyjamas changed, I'm not even going to discuss the frequency of my nightie washing. In my defence, i usually get hot half way through the night and take it off.

Hate changing sheets with a vengeance, can't believe that anyone would change them every night.

lottien · 10/12/2008 20:31

I am sure that Geepers must be taking the p*ss and is sitting laughing her (admittedly very clean) socks off. I'm sorry but even putting aside environmental issues and just bunging everything in the washing machine then the tumble dryer you've still got to sort and fold the buggers and put then back in the drawer... where's the time saving in that???

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 20:35

Lottien we are washing buggers as well now, are we?

Horton · 10/12/2008 20:36

I change our sheets about once every couple of weeks, ie when I can be arsed. I think I am the filthiest person on this thread. Maybe in the whole world. I have to say, I don't feel particularly bad about it, though. I don't think any of us smell and we do wear clean clothes every day. In our house, adults shower/bathe every day and the child gets bathed about once a week. The thought of bathing a two year old twice a day leaves me faint with exhaustion. I honestly don't think children get dirty/smelly like adults do. If you wash their faces and hands, they don't smell bad or look filthy, do they?

And I am also slightly aghast at the washing machine/tumble dryer use for clean sheets and PJs every day. I don't want to start a fight, but don't you frequent washers ever feel mildly guilty in a planet-rapey kind of way? We probably do about three or four full loads a week and that seems quite a lot to me!

As for towels, well, you only use them when you're clean, don't you? I mean, if you've washed properly, they're only getting wet, not dirty. I hang ours up to air and they are fine for at least a week.

Might have to run away and namechange now that you all know how filthy I am.

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 20:39

Clothes pegs, anyone?

Geepers · 10/12/2008 20:40

I bath the 2 year old so often because....actually I think I am just digging myself into a hole here rather than explaining, but it's because she has curly hair and looks messy unless it's washed and dried in the mornings.

I don't find it at all hard work to do, am am usually just drying my own hair while she is in there.

We do share bath water

ingles2 · 10/12/2008 20:40

I change the boys pj's everyday. It seems to help with keeping the cases of worms down. They have their own towels, I change once or twice a week and change their beds once a week.

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 20:40

Actually, I do my sheets about once a fortnight too...

There.

I've said it.

I'm out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shopaholicDIVA · 10/12/2008 20:41

changes every 2-3 days. dd gets in stage that wear clothes once
other day she tells me " mummy i had this top yesterday, its smelly now"
i told her it was very much clean and not smelly at all. you must wear your clothes and nice and clean" i was quiteshocked by her. i suppose that what i did when she was little.

Geepers · 10/12/2008 20:49

Bella you crack me up

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 20:51

Geepers - what the flippin heck are you doing still on this thread?

Are you waiting for the spin cycle to finish or what?

gingerninja · 10/12/2008 20:53

Horton I'm with you. In fact it would appear that I'm a total slob. DD has pjs changed when they look grubby, last probably about a week. bedding washed as infrequently as once a month (my DH hates clean sheets!) Seriously they don't stink if you leave them they just don't have that out of the washing machine smell. We adults shower daily, DD bathed maybe twice a week. Towels washed every 3 or 4 weeks, again when I remember. Clothes are clean every day unless I can get away with it.

Even being this slatternly I have probably three loads of washing a week which frankly is too much. The effort of getting it all hung up, dried, ironed and put away is too much of my precious time wasted.

I can't believe the amount of work some of you make for yourselves.

Horton · 10/12/2008 20:54

I'm so glad Bella mings as much as I do. Otherwise I'd feel like an outcast.

Horton · 10/12/2008 20:55

Oh and ginger, I love you too!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/12/2008 20:58

Horton - this house works the same as yours!

I was avoiding this thread as I felt a litte too as a relative mn newcomer to admit what we did, but knowing I'm not alone has encouraged me to "come out"!

I'm Iwishiwasmoreorganised and I don't change our pyjamas, sheets and towels as often as the majority of mn'ers do!

There! I said it

Rookietherednosedreindeer · 10/12/2008 21:00

Can I join the slatterns society please, although I must admit that I do like clean sheets, even if I only get to enjoy them once a fortnight.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/12/2008 21:03

I didn't say that I don't like clean sheets, I just don't seem to get around to changing them as often as some people

Hulababy · 10/12/2008 21:09

Slattern here too.

Bedding gets washed when I remember , bottom sheet more frequently than rest. I go for once a fortnight which I think it often enough unless you are really hot and sweaty type.

Towels get washed weekly. We each have our own towels. They go on a bathroom airer between showers to dry. They get put in wash earlier if grubby.

The only things that gets one wear and wash in our house are pants, socks and tights, and DH's work shirts.

Rookietherednosedreindeer · 10/12/2008 21:51

Excellent I can trump that. DH insists on wearing his work shirts twice before washing. I do try to make sure he doesn't wear them 2 days in a row as then he would get caught out.
