How many times do your los wear their pjs?

Having just read the pending pile thread, I wondered how many times your LOs wear their pjs before they are "dirty"?

DTs are grubby little mites and crawl around so their sleepsuits/pjs get worn just once, but dd who is 4 is much cleaner and less of a floor-roller so she wears her 2, sometimes 3 nights before they are dirty/a bit stinky.

Is this a slatternly way to live? Should they have clean pjs every night? Surely not...

Gosh . Mine wear their pjs for 5 days. They are 6 and 4.

Geepers · 10/12/2008 16:55

I am just lazy and don't liek picking things up and putting them back. I scoop everything up off the floor and throw straight in washing machine.

shubiedoo · 10/12/2008 16:57

Ds1 is nearly 6 and wears his all week, they get changed after his bath on Sunday.
Ds2 eats breakfast in his and they never last more than 2 days.

ohreindeerwhatamessysleigh · 10/12/2008 16:59

Mine have clean PJs every night. Only occasionally do they last 2 nights.

Both spill lots of milk and weetabix down themselves. I wouldn't change them if they didn't.

slayerette · 10/12/2008 16:59

What do your children do to their pyjamas??? DS wears his for a week; they get changed when his bedding and towels do. And he doesn't smell/have stains on them either.

slayerette · 10/12/2008 17:00

Thank God shubiedoo - was beginning to think I was alone!

GColdtimer · 10/12/2008 17:00

geepers - you wash even towels and tea towels after one use?? Blimey, good job you don't live in this house.

DD wears her pjs for 3 or 4 nights and I refuse to think there is anything wrong with that. Her vest gets changed every day and she wears a night nappy. And I stretch out her clothes for two days if I can.

Think of the environment you people. You really do not need to do that much washing

sandyballs · 10/12/2008 17:00

My 7 year olds get clean PJs when I think they start to niff a bit. Can't believe some of you change everything after one wear . What a waste of time/water/energy.

shubiedoo · 10/12/2008 17:01

Exactly, they're just sleeping aren't they?!

FiveDollarShake · 10/12/2008 17:03

Ds and DD wear their PJ's/sleepsuits for two nights if I can get away with it. This coincides with having a bath every other day......clean PJ's after bath.

TheProvincialLady · 10/12/2008 17:03

Once or twice, but that is because DS often leaks a bit in the night and if he doesn't then the whole porridge/weetabix challenge is just too much for them. I don't think he needs clean ones on every day just for the sake of it.

Geepers · 10/12/2008 17:05

I wash towels and tea towels after every use because...errrr, because my mum always did

It's just something I have grown up doing. It means the towels in the bathroom are always fluffy, we don't have the need for damp towel storage, and often the closest towel to hand gets used for wiping spills off teh floor, wiping a snotty nose etc so we have become conditioned to get a clean one out each time we need it.

The tea towel thing is much the same. I get a tea towel out of the draw and wipe my hands on it, or dry a cup with it. If I went back to use it half an hour later there is no saying what spillage or nose it may have been used on, so it goes in the wash and I get a clean one out.

It doesn't really add to my washing pile as I'd do one or two loads a day regardless of how much there is.

Geepers · 10/12/2008 17:05

I also wash my bath mat every day too

2pt4WiseMen · 10/12/2008 17:06

Every day for my two.
They get hot and sweaty while sleeping, dribble milk on them and eat brekkie in them in the mornings!
I do all clothes after one wear too, except jeans which get worn twicxe if not grubby.

Towels and tea towels get about 3 days between washes though!

shubiedoo · 10/12/2008 17:07

Then you may as well use kitchen paper!

MinkyBorage · 10/12/2008 17:07

mine mostly have clean ones every night, but not if I can pick the porridge or cereal off effectively.

slayerette · 10/12/2008 17:08

Am at what some of your water/electricity bills must be, not to mention the carbon footprint...

littleboyblue · 10/12/2008 17:08

Ds 16m, wears his pj's once before they are washed. Don't know why that is, I've never really thought about it, they come off in the morning and go straight in machine

BONKERZ · 10/12/2008 17:10

mine change their PJs every night, sometimes DD (nearly 3 dry most nights occassional accident) wears 2 pairs a night! And yes i also only use towels once and then put them in wash and kids wear clean uniform every day. im a freak!

shubiedoo · 10/12/2008 17:10

I was getting sick of doing washing everyday, so now if it doesn't smell or have a stain, it gets worn again. Dh is terrified now to put anything in the hamper

Geepers · 10/12/2008 17:11

BONKERZ glad I'm not the only one.

motomoto · 10/12/2008 17:11

am stunned at this thread!

min get clean PJs once a week, when the beds, towels etc get done

unless they have vomit on or something

Geepers · 10/12/2008 17:12

How can you get sick of washing? It's a 2 minute job to throw something in teh washing machine and turn it on. It takes me less time to do that than it does to fold something that has been used and put it away.

elliott · 10/12/2008 17:13

Until they are dirty (which, in the case of ds1 means I can smell wee on them, and for ds2 means they have skid marks ) Prbably about 3 days. More if dh is in charge as he doesn't check

GColdtimer · 10/12/2008 17:20

but geepers and all you other washing obsessives, think of the water you are wasting. And the electricity. And surely although it takes no time to wash it it does take time to get it out, hang it up, wait for it to dry, etc,etc..

Please don't tell me you bung it all in the dryer
