How many times do your los wear their pjs?

Having just read the pending pile thread, I wondered how many times your LOs wear their pjs before they are "dirty"?

DTs are grubby little mites and crawl around so their sleepsuits/pjs get worn just once, but dd who is 4 is much cleaner and less of a floor-roller so she wears her 2, sometimes 3 nights before they are dirty/a bit stinky.

Is this a slatternly way to live? Should they have clean pjs every night? Surely not...

I have opened up a can of worms here I can see.

Am aghast at getting a clean tea towel out after every use - how many do you have?! If we did that we'd go through about 37 tea towels a day! Ours get used for a day, sometimes two if they are barely used. Same with towels, two, maybe three days use before they get washed.

Someone is going to come along soon and say they wash their bedding daily, I just know it!

I wash things when they are dirty - such a waste of water and energy to bung stuff in the machine all the time

Geepers · 10/12/2008 17:59

I do bung it all in the tumble dryer, year round. It's a time saving thing. I also wash my bed sheet daily BibiJesus, although I don't do the childrens' so often

dinny · 10/12/2008 18:00

Oh. My. God

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 18:06

Wow. What can I say?

Geepers - I am astonished you manage on only 2 loads a day. I do 1-2 loads a day and we change towels twice a week (at best...), PJ's twice a week, and wear lots of our clothes more than once.

Have you got a blinkin' enormous industrial washing machine or what?

flowerytaleofNewYork · 10/12/2008 18:08

Blimey at some of this.

DS wears his PJs for a week. He has a vest under which is changed daily, has a bath daily before bed and is dressed first thing before breakfast, so they don't get at all dirty.

Dropdeadfred · 10/12/2008 18:11

My dd3 (aged 3) has always had clean pjs evry night....i don't check on my other two now but they always have clean pjs in their drawers to chose if they wish

i am a bit at people who let their dcs wear them for a week!!!!

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 18:13

Why ddf?

Geepers · 10/12/2008 18:14

lol, it's not an industrial sized washing machine, no, but it was the largest we could buy. I think it might hold an 8kg load?

You're missing out, Geepers - there are 10kg ones on the market now

Gorionine · 10/12/2008 18:16

they wear the same PJs two night in a row they then go to the washing basket, dirty or not.

VanillaPumpkin · 10/12/2008 18:19

@ Geepers

Geepers · 10/12/2008 18:19

I don't worry about the environment at all, no. I have no guilty conscience whatsoever. Apart from the extravagant use of utilities I am a good person so it all evens out in the wash ha ha

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 18:19

My excuse, fwiw, is not the environment or the cost of electricity, although I agree these are worthwhile considerations. Rather, I believe (get ready girls) that a bit of dirt is actually good for you, your immune system, etc.

Also I spend far too much of my time already washing, drying, folding, putting away and, when completely cornered, ironing.

Oooh, I have come over all peculiar now. Just let me grab a gin....

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 18:20

x post with Geepers - you could say you are whiter than white

Gorionine · 10/12/2008 18:21

Oh, they do change school uniform daily . before the uproar starts, I have 4 DCs and 3 loads of washing a week as I have quie a big washing mashine and never ever do half loads. I do not have a tumble dryer.

GColdtimer · 10/12/2008 18:21

why ddf? Surely they just don't get that dirty?

I am even more at the utter wastefulness of washing everything you have only used once and then putting it in the dryer tbh.

Do those of you who do this ever think about the amount of money/energy/water you are using. Genuine question.

GColdtimer · 10/12/2008 18:24

sorry, x posted there.

Not sure how your reasoning works there geepers tbh, but I think I will bow out now before I get all judgey.

Geepers · 10/12/2008 18:26

Judge away. I know it isn't all that environmentally friendly but it makes me feel good having everything soft and fluffy and clean. Of all the faults a person can have, I'm glad this is mine.

In admit that it may seem extravagant...but i wait to wash them when i have a full load...i love fresh clean clothes...and bedding

BellaKissedSanta · 10/12/2008 18:59

I don't think any of us are entitled to judge you, Geepers. I for one would like to come and stay the weekend and luxuriate in all that cleanliness...

And for all we know the rest of your lifestyle may be so environmentally friendly it would put Greenpeace to shame.

I can just imagine you in your eco-friendly tree house, washing and tumbling away on the electricity your dc's are generating by running round a huge flywheel in your garden.

Yhat's right, isn't it, Geepers?

Geepers?

Geepers · 10/12/2008 19:01

Bella

I didn't have so many children for nuffin'

wrinklytum · 10/12/2008 19:02

ds who is 5 can go 2-3 days.DD who is a messy little thing and still in nappies and prone to early morning poos has clean ones daily.
