Morning girls - no wellies today, just my trainers as cycled to school with kids. I'm in an empty house for the first time in blooming weeks and it's LOVELY. Big cup of coffee and MN - what more do you need?

Have swished & swiped, all beds made (even the kids did their own!), dishwasher emptied, breakfast things in it, sink shiny, and am now off to do 15 mins hoovering, then whatever the mission is for today.

TR - hang on in there, don't be too hard on yourself. As someone said on an earlier thread, you wouldn't be so hard on a friend. Rather than look at everything that needs doing, just find one thing that you could do - stick a load in the machine for instance - and do that, no more. We are all cheering you on!

Have done 15 minutes decluttering in paper nightmare in loft. Am going to do tupperware today as I have a disastrous cupboard.

Washing done. Have lots of chores to do. This is my 15 minutes 'me' time!

Is anyone else actually feeling better about themselves through doing this? I am feeling sooo much happier and more confident, and I don't really understand why!

Maybe its some feng shui type thing?

I keep telling people about it, and they look at me like I'm insane

Flame, I should think it's more a case of feeling better about stuff because you are getting somewhere and making a difference. I had reached the point where I felt I was useless and would never have a tidy house, it's a mess at the moment but I feel a bit better because sink is shiny and I think if I can get into the habit of that I can do the other stuff, not there yet and not flying this week, think I crashed but I will try again
So to answer your question, was starting to feel better but bit crap this week.

damewashalot · 06/09/2006 11:28

DH is scared to mess up my sink

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 06/09/2006 11:38

Thank you Tamsino for backing me up re shoes!!

Flylady definitely makes me feel happy and fulfilled! Fixing my hair and face makes me feel good, and getting through the housework one babystep at a time makes me feel calm, so DH and I have not argued for weeks .

And I feel I have found a whole new bunch of friends in you lot (even if we are all saddos!)

Morning all

Had breakfast at local pub with friends this morning but before I left I had a shiny sink, had swished and swiped and had a load in the washer and the beds were made (DDs made their own). I nearly told friends about flylady but thought better of it as I think they would think me loopy!

Going to do 15 mins decluttering a cupboard in kitchen but cleared fridge on Monday before shopping so shouldn't be too bad.

Welcome to all the new people and babysteps to all those who are struggling. I got a bit ahead of myself on Monday and felt a failure coz I couldn't keep up with everyone else but then realised I am only 16 days into babysteps and don't have to.

AmandaP · 06/09/2006 11:46

Breakfast at a PUB?? shouldn't that be part of a different thread?!!!

Shazronnie - we're not saddos, we are the enlightened ones! Hell, I'm still wearing my shoes and it's nearly midday! something must be working!

And no, I've not told anybody in RL either. Actually I have told my sister who also finds tidying a bit of a challenge. DH just thinks I'm bonkers, but has admitted that the house is much nicer since I've started flying!

SKYTVADICT · 06/09/2006 11:52

Breakfast in a pub without alcolhol - I'm pregnant and that particular pub doesn't serve it until 11! It was very nice though, thought I might ring a different friend and see if she fancies lunch BUT I am so sad I wanted to come home to declutter my kitchen cupboard and see what today's mission was! . DP told me the computer would be running my life soon!

mummy2ashton · 06/09/2006 11:55

oh no today i have done bugger all! this is terrible, i fear i am losing my motivation, bloody holiday! wish i never went now! lol. and i am so tired as ds was screaming the whole night for no apparent reason so i was walking him about and trying to get him back to sleep. my back is in a state from rocking a 2 stone toddler to sleep!

i really need to have a nap. fly lady probably is dead against this but i will feel so much better once i have had some sleep!

re the shoes thing - i find shoes helps me too, but i never wear lace up shoes, just a pair of pink ballet pumps! comfy and then i have no excuse not to take the bin out!

will be back later and hopefully i can tell you all that i shined my sink and done my mission for today!

ps. cousin still in hospital but she has regained conciousness so a good sign!

mummy2ashton · 06/09/2006 12:03

whispers - (just had a thought about setting up a fly lady forum of our own, we could have sections for before and after pictures and a debates board for the "shoes or no shoes" debacle. what do you thin?)

mummy2ashton · 06/09/2006 12:05

i mean think

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 06/09/2006 12:05

how would we do that M2A?

mummy2ashton · 06/09/2006 12:35

we could open up a forum of our own, there are lots of free forum servers. i dunno, was just an idea!

Flamesparrow · 06/09/2006 13:23

The problem with other boards is though that a lot of them don't run as fast as this, so it is harder to have chats iyswim.

Most people who know me, know I'm sad already, so find the FLYing obsession fairly normal...

I think that the Flylady would be fine with naps.

I was all interested in this pub breakfast idea, until you mentioned the lack of booze

Back from school, done shopping, and all sorted . NEVER would have done that normally - would poddle home, do lunch, then put off shops til later!

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 06/09/2006 13:27

i think the mumsnet thread is working well to chat with each other, and it is a good way of attracting new potential saddos, sorry i meant flybabies!

calebsmummy · 06/09/2006 13:44

Flame, I didn't look at you as if you were odd when you told me about it! mind you that doesn't say much really does it

Done sod all today. Shopped for birthday pressies, picked up DS2 from nursery, lunch and just about to pop next door for a coffee. Then off to collect DS1 from school to go straight to a birthday party with all 3 DS's at 3.30!!!

Sink is shiny though

And no shoes......occasional flip flop wearer here.

singersgirl · 06/09/2006 15:00

Am a day behind in the kitchen but sorted out my plastic tubs and boxes. Yippee! They aren't falling out anymore.

Time to go and get the boys. Don't know what to do about their bedrooms....

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 06/09/2006 15:03

Afternoon FLYers.
Ive had a busy morning but not FLYing!
Took boys to school then went to the park with the girls for half hour before walking upto mother and toddlers group. There till ends at 12 then walk home for lunch.Super quick tidy round before the abuse lady came at 1.We had a ggod chat about things and she's coming back to chat more in 2 weeks.

Now i have to hang washing out and empty dishwasher before i do anything else! Back soon if anyones around!

Flamesparrow · 06/09/2006 15:25

CM - You can tell the people who think i'm nuts, and the ones who get a glint in their eye and ask for the name of "the website"

I have realised that it is the babysteps and the not being perfect that I like so much. Today, I decided I wanted to get the sealing done, and, if I could be bothered, attack my cooker (outside only). In the past I would have decided "Today I am sorting the kitchen" and it would all be too much and end up a half done mess. Sealant is done, oven is looking sparkly with the rings in soaking.
