its a 9 in 1 steam mop and it is the most fun ive had cleaning in ages! my home is now hygienically steamed....no mean feat with dogs, cats, rats, kids....

its this one

its fab.
its got emulsion of window frames, the cupboard fronts were so easy it was a joy, the hob, the stainless steel splashback, the fridge, the floors, the tiles, the shower door.....all sparkling and done in seconds.

it was a cleaning revelation.
im now addicted to steaming stuff....including my thumb...which is dont recommend cos that hurts.

the reviews are not wrong on this one....
(morphy richards - commission please!)

I'd spend less time cleaning:)
but more time lugging home bottles of ionised water :(

I'd be £58 down and have another gadget cluttering up my cupboard
I dunno, I really am trying to stop buying 'stuff'
but I spilled coffee on my chinese carpet Confused

LIZS · 28/05/2014 18:06

don't think it will get stains out of carpet .

Suzannewithaplan · 28/05/2014 18:11

Hmm still worried, you say it doesn't leave the floor wet Vicar but I think the problem with Karndean floors is that the heat might actually melt the adhesive... anyone have any experience of this?

I really, really want one. Our floor is sort of limestone effect plastic tiles, with millions of pores and bumps, perfectly designed to trap dirt. This steam mop could change my life... please tell me it won't melt Fing bastard, chosen by DP with no thought of how to clean it Karndean floor.

Shall I get one anyway and experiment...?

EBearhug · 28/05/2014 19:52

Snow, you could use it on everything but the floor. Mine does say you can't use it on all floor surfaces, but I can't tell you about more than the floor surfaces I have.

alemci · 28/05/2014 20:08

Has anyone bought the extension hose that goes with the morphy re handheld steamer. It may make it easier to use as you don't have to hold the body so close. It was another £20.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 28/05/2014 20:23

Just normal tap water. Occasionally I even de scale it

randomfemale · 28/05/2014 20:30

Just ordered from Tesco.direct for £48.00 (I had £10 of clubcard pts to spend) Can pick it up from store on Friday afternoon. Hope it's as good as you say Vicar

Bluetubchairs · 28/05/2014 20:33

Mhm... Sounds good but there are quite a few negative reviews on amazon Confused. Awaiting updates.

SnowCoveredHills · 28/05/2014 20:45

Might take the plunge, and do a test on a hidden corner of the floor. I'll report back.

emsyj · 28/05/2014 20:45

I've got unbranded karndean type floor (same stuff but different manufacturer) and I have just ordered this steam mop (weirdly, about 4 minutes before I saw this thread...!) I have every intention of using it on my floor (kitchen and dining room both have this flooring) and if it comes up I will just cry.

JamJimJam · 28/05/2014 20:46

I looked it up on Which and it didn't do that well.

In fact, none of them do. I really want a steam mop though!

Bluetubchairs · 28/05/2014 20:47

Would love to hear back emsyj.

Sharpkat · 28/05/2014 20:47

Mine arrived yesterday. Am stupidly excited. Blush

JamJimJam · 28/05/2014 20:49

Emsyj, we have Karndean and the fitter told us not to use steam cleaning.

It seems so indestructible though, I can't imagine a bit of steam harming it.

MeAndMySpoon · 28/05/2014 21:04

I'm so so close to getting one of these and this thread might push me over the edge - but. I have wooden floors everywhere apart from kitchen, bathrooms and one room which has manky carpet. It's the living room/dining room that really needs scrubbing (trails of dropped food from DC, slightly sticky dust under my rugs because of that non-slip fabric I put under them, etc) and in here, the wooden floors are different from the original pine boards elsewhere in the house - it is real wood (no idea how thick) glued onto what must be plywood because there's a bit that bounces slightly. They're varnished but the varnish has seen better days and is wearing through.

Can I steam clean them or will I bugger them up irretrievably?

SnowCoveredHills · 28/05/2014 21:07

Emsyj let us know what happens... try a test area first, like somewhere behind a bit of furniture or something.

Jam yes, Karndean say not to steam, but I wonder if they're just covering their backs.

1Cheesedoff · 28/05/2014 21:43

I have one fantastic on cream tiles. I feel my toilets are really germ free when using it.

ThatVikRinA22 · 28/05/2014 21:44

i think all hard floors would be fine with a quick once over - its not melted my laminate adhesive or my other weirdly expensive but stupid bathroom floor.....(ive no idea what it is!)

not sure about stains on carpets - it wouldnt work alone - maybe working in a foam stain remover and then steaming would help lift the dirt - its not a wet/dry hoover though - just a steam cleaner.

for carpets i would hire a carpet cleaner from B&Q or some dry cleaners hire them out....

i think the majority of folk on amazon who reviewed it are as pleased with it as me - but yes there are some negative reviews - however i do wonder what people expect sometimes - i have found it a much easier less time and energy consuming way of cleaning the kitchen fully, the bathroom fully, and the windows and doors, window frames, shower screen etc etc. the ease with which dirt comes off things is great. It gets sticky marks off things too - i had stuck a note to the door with cellotape and couldnt get the bloody stickyness off....i have now! but i do have dogs, cats, rats and kids....so my house is noticeably cleaner after using it

if you live alone, in a pristine house and have a cleaner you may not see the same difference as i am....
my house is usually a hovel....so the difference for me is quite stark! DH cant get excited about it though (i know - ive tried - as ive excitedly been telling him to come and look at the windows....!!)

it just cleans well with little effort.
so i like it (the less effort the better!)

emsyj · 28/05/2014 21:50

I would have thought if you're just sweeping the mop over the floor then it shouldn't get hot enough to melt adhesive - but we'll see! We have a plinth heater in the skirting in the kitchen that blows hot air at floor level and the fitter who did our floor didn't mention it. It hasn't harmed it so far - floor's been down about 18 months. Given that I just cannot be arsed with 'normal' stinky mops any more, I am taking the view that if the kitchen floor comes up when I steam mop it, so be it. I will just fucking tile it instead.

SnowCoveredHills · 28/05/2014 21:54

I have a friend who uses one on an industrial kitchen. She says it's amazing at getting all the old grease and grime from around the cooker knobs.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/05/2014 22:11

I bought a steam mop at the weekend- not this one though. Today I have steamed the carpet in the hall. Urrrrgggghhhh! The pads were grim. I am waiting or the carpet to dry (although it only takes a little while and I'll o it again tomorrow.

How do I do the oven with it?

PumpkinsMummy · 28/05/2014 22:12

Just place marking so I can buy it later. As you were.....
