its a 9 in 1 steam mop and it is the most fun ive had cleaning in ages! my home is now hygienically steamed....no mean feat with dogs, cats, rats, kids....

its this one

its fab.
its got emulsion of window frames, the cupboard fronts were so easy it was a joy, the hob, the stainless steel splashback, the fridge, the floors, the tiles, the shower door.....all sparkling and done in seconds.

it was a cleaning revelation.
im now addicted to steaming stuff....including my thumb...which is dont recommend cos that hurts.

the reviews are not wrong on this one....

OP, did it do your oven wire racks?

LBDD · 07/06/2014 08:28

I've got a bargain sainsburys floor mop and do my karndean flooring several times a week and have for last year or so. So far no lifting or melting I don't think, I just make sure I keep the mop moving and don't leave it standing in ine place. Love it, have karndean throughout the ground floor and it's so much better and quicker than anything else I've tried.
I'm on the lookout for a good handheld now, my shower has pink stuff in it that I have to bleach every week and I'd love to get rid without the chemicals.

Iamnotachewtoy · 07/06/2014 09:46

Thanks vicar! I'm letting DH have a lie in so he'll take the baby out later so I can go crazy with my new toy

The nozzles are self sterilising really aren't they? I'm giving them a rinse then another blast of steam after doing the loo and then consider them OK for doing the kitchen... Gross or fine?

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 07/06/2014 14:53

Purplealert I'm going to use it on my travertine tiles today. Will keep you posted.

I got mine yesterday and steamed the whole kitchen and whatever I could get my hands on yesterday downstairs. Today I'll be moving onto the two bathrooms and upstairs. I tried it on my sofa and it didn't make even a bit of difference, but it wasn't that dirty to begin with anyway.

My DS (a 15 year old cleanaholic) reckons I just bought it because of the MNers and that its not that brilliant really. Nothing a good scrub and elbow grease won't get rid of. I'm inclined to agree with him to an extent. It's not so brilliant on things that you regularly clean anyway and just need a once over. However, it does come into it's own on grime that you've neglected, such as my cooker hood which was appalling and the hard to reach ridges and edges of the double glazed door frame.

My one big question is where on earth do I get de-ionized water from without paying for it? I read upthread that the water that collects from my dryer will do. Is that so? It's what I used yesterday anyway.

millimat · 07/06/2014 16:25

Not all dryers collect water do they?

CorrieDale · 07/06/2014 16:31

I have succumbed. Mine is arriving on Monday (my birthday!). We've had an expensive month (4 birthdays in 5 weeks) so I have bought it with club card vouchers from tesco direct. I am a bit too excited!

HesterShaw · 07/06/2014 16:40

I didn't read the instructions and melted the polish on the hall wooden floor and have pale patches everywhere. Oh dear.

whatsonyourplate · 07/06/2014 16:41

Thediet the water collected in a dehumidifier should be deionised. Otherwise you can buy it from halfords and similar. Also how did you grow a child that likes cleaning?

My mother used to use rainwater in the iron TheDiet, but according to Google, that is Not Good Enough as it could contain stuff other than limescale.

DollyWosits · 07/06/2014 19:50

Tescos does big bottles of de ionized water. It's cheap too.

leeloo1 · 07/06/2014 22:54

Oooh, Vicar good advice there, thanks. What order do you do the steaming in so you don't have to keep swapping heads?

SquidgyMaltLoaf · 08/06/2014 16:18

I don't have a squeegee attachment! Should I..?

JimmyCorkhill · 08/06/2014 16:52

It's here, It's here GrinGrinGrin

Been away at a wedding (how VERY dare they when my mop has just arrived!!) So tomorrow my house will be worthy of Homes & Gardens!

LIZS · 08/06/2014 16:55

Not exactly a squeegee, more like a flat head attachment with a rubber lstrip to clear the drips. On our instructions it is labelled as part no. 31. Just did the downstairs loo - barf at smell! Not finding much success with removing limescale, anyone ? Also we have brass taps etc, is the steam good for them or will it stain ?

CorrieDale · 08/06/2014 17:03

Right. Have added deionised water to the tesco shopping list tomorrow. On Tuesday I will be listening to The Moonstone on Audible and steaming this midden into its usual tidy state!

Paddlinglikehell · 08/06/2014 18:56

Oooo thus looks promising and I have a ton of Tesco vouchers!

Do you think it will do rough flagstone floors, or is the pad likely to tear?
Is it OK on oak floors? - I lightly damp mop them now.

Almost pressing that button!!!!!

HesterShaw · 08/06/2014 20:31

You put the microfibre cloth bits through the wash, right? Until they fall to bits?

LIZS · 08/06/2014 20:32

Yes , they seem pretty robust though.

I have just given mine its first outing. Did a good job on the kitchen floor. The cloth feels much more substantial than the towelling pad that came with my cheapo version from Ocado. Will get one if the attachments on the bit of welded on Weetabix I found later. I have aluminium windows with a ridiculous lip that catches condensation. The collected water gets all black and minging. Will see if there's something small enough to do those later.

Birdsighland · 09/06/2014 15:28

Is this adequate or would the variable steam version be handy? Why would the variable steam one be desirable?

Just looked at it and now am in two minds.

CorrieDale · 09/06/2014 18:13

Mine has arrived. I have not managed to find deionised water but will try again tomorrow. I had planned to start the Great Clean first thing tomorrow but have been scuppered by having to twitch along as DS alter serves at the class Mass. He is dyspraxic and will have to pass sacred things to the priest. The other alter server also has 'issues' so it could be eventful. I should probably bring the steam mop along with me!

EBearhug · 09/06/2014 21:34

Halfords have deionised water, and I think I've had distilled water from Tesco in the past, too.

Can't say I bother. I can stick some vinegar through it at some point, if it gets too clogged up.

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/06/2014 02:06

happy steaming folks....

i am using deionised water....but am going to research whether the water from the condenser dryer is suitable....

mine has made a huge difference to the appearance of my house...

i think im getting the cleaning bug
i did the works fridge
and today took extreme pleasure in hoovering a filthy works car....

OP posts:
EBearhug · 10/06/2014 02:14

Trouble is, the cleaning bug does wear off, in my experience.
