Oh no bessie I would have thought that paint would have wiped off a vinyl tablecloth. Blue paint it the worst of the lot (apart from black) though. Is the tablecloth machine washable? Can you try Ace Bleach if such a thing still exists, or Vanish or a specific Stain Devil aimed at paint?

I am not the expert on these things but I do know that washing in warm water can sometimes set a stain rather than help get it out. This might be a question for a special post all of it's own.

I used to keep a cash book when I was a teenager too to keep track of my earnings in the shop I worked in and my babysitting money. My parents were both accountants so it was drummed into me and I always find it a good way now of reining in my spending when I have to put it in print.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 06/01/2012 15:44

I have been out shopping for a good hour or two Shock. Was just the supermarket and Argos too!
Came back, had a late lunch then did 15 minutes Flying in the kitchen.

I think the Baby steps do work, it's just the first 5 days make me feel a bit like I'm not getting anywhere.
They get better from now on.
I find using the timer one of the most useful things I have picked up from it.

Here's a food question: has anyone ever tried cooking Portobello mushrooms?
and if so, how was it?

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 15:44

I am losing the will with my ironing backlog. Bleurgh!

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 15:47

babystep 6 This is where we are today isn't it?

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 15:48

Oh forgot to say I cleaned the bath and tidied and reorganised the tin cupboard. I must be bored to tears.

bessie26 · 06/01/2012 16:03

Hope those tins are all facing forwards carrots? Wink

I didn't have enough dirty laundry for a load today so I have washed DD1s painting apron & then the oven gloves (last time I washed them with anything else they gave everything a slight green tint) I plan to run a hot wash through it later with some soda crystals in.

I got a 30min snooze. DD2 & I are sat in my bed playing with her toys while we wait for DD1 to wake up. She is always so knackered from 2 days at pre-school (no naps) that I let her nap as long as she likes, it's usually 3hrs, so she's up just in time for tea! Grin

bessie26 · 06/01/2012 16:06

And yes, we are on day 6. I might hotspot my dressing table while DD2 plays.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 06/01/2012 16:06

Hi Carrots, yes we are on number 6 today although I have only managed the getting dressed baby step. Am going back to do more in my kitchen soon.

I have posted in the food topic asking for cooking help so maybe if you are bored you might be able to help me out.Blush

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 06/01/2012 16:07

X posts with bessie

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 06/01/2012 16:09

bessie would you like to come and do my laundry? --I have a back log--

bessie26 · 06/01/2012 16:24

Hahahahahahaha black! I have 3 trugs full of laundry to put away - I should probably hot spot them!

While I was doing the dressing table I found a couple of vouchers for free boxes at Graze - would anyone like one?

Eggrules · 06/01/2012 16:38

Carrots good idea about cashbook.

I will have to look into Ebay but it seems daunting.

I declared my hotspot toys in main room. Went to B&Q - paint colours and new flooring agreed upon. Popped to Ikea and bought containers and small hangers.

Figures sorted Wink. I have put off ironing AGAIN.

Just off to do 15 mins in Hall Zone.

Wine and chinese takeaway tonight.

bessie26 · 06/01/2012 16:45

Snap egg, that's exactly what we're having too! Grin

bessie26 · 06/01/2012 16:47

carrots I have a pile of cookery books I have decluttered (I had too many for the cupboard) & was thinking about trying to eBay them, do you think it would be worth it? I guess I have nothing to loose by trying?!

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 16:48

im tired so were having oven chips with whatevers in the freezer

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 16:49

bessie what books have you got

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 16:51

Dh is not home for tea tonight so I have no idea what to make. I might have to eat party vol aux vents (sp?) which doesn't really appeal and give the dcs beans and cheese on toast which they would rejoice about.

I am Envy of the Chinese takeaways.

Egg I found ebay daunting but the thread before Christmas really helped. When I got stuck someone always helped me. I am a beginner too. If you wanted to you could just start with a couple of things that you are not too fussed about and see how it goes.

The cash book has always worked for me before. I don't do it all year but it just slows me down a bit and retrains my money habits. Blush

I am going to try for no spend days but I am not convinced it will work for us.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 16:54

It seems I am making and painting a wooden dinosaur with ds before I eat. yay! Grin

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 17:02

my ds would love to join in!hes colouring in a dinosaur colouring book at the minSmile

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:14

We have to wait for the glue to dry - it says 30 secs - yeah right! Hmm

Ds is really excited now though. He is off playing with his moshi monsters while he waits. Grin

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:16

I should hang that second load of washing while he is occupied.

I keep thinking I am near the end of the washing, then think about the sheets and sigh.

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 17:21

dont.i like to boil mine.ds had ANOTHER nose bleed last night so its a low setting to deal with that before can boil it.got binbag much loved soft toys that look like theyve been dragged through the muddiest puddles going.towels piling up again(not sure how but my kids soak them and then they end up waiting to be washed after one use.good job they have 4 each!)nice pile dirty school uniform/colours glaring at me too.do you think nudists have tidy houses as not got much laundry to do?Grin

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 17:23

by the way do we still fly weekends?

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:25

Grin at nudists but don't want to think about that one too hard Shock

My mum tells me to soak blood stains in cold salty water. Dd had a phase of having nose bleeds too after a bad cold and bled all over our pale beige carpet. The salt and cold water did the trick.

Glue still not dry.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:28

live I slow the flying pace at the weekends. Obviously my dcs are still off school so I am semi in weekend mode at the moment, although doing a bit more than I might at the weekend.

I often get the rest of the family to help at the weekend - it is not all my problem.

My dmum gave me a great sign for my kitchen which says, "ATTENTION - YOUR MOTHER DOESN'T WORK HERE. PLEASE CLEAN UP YOUR OWN MESS!" It made her laugh, presumably for the same reason it made me laugh.
