carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:44

Yay! The live family will have clean sheets and clean uniforms for Monday morning! (And it won't hang over you all weekend).

Can I ask those of you with school age dcs if your dcs change into play clothes after school or stay in their uniforms? Mine, ds in particular, is usually filthy by the end of a day so I tend to let him stay in his uniform. My dmum always made us change but it was the 70's and our uniforms were washed less often.

Ds is not coping with the glue issue. He poked at it and it is falling apart a bit. He has anxiety problems so has had a complete panic attack about it . I think I will have to takes some superglue to it once he is in bed so he can paint it tomorrow.

I have hung up the second load of washing though. There would be no room to dry more so that is enough washing for today.

I haven't done my 2 mins yet but I think I will get the dcs involved in it and we will tackle the table after tea.

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 17:45

what still got to be done today?
im planning to tackle a massive bag recipes ive collected into a folder with plastic pages.
wash up and clean sink
possibly wash living room floor(might leave that for tomorrow)

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 17:49

aw bless you both
mine filthy little buggers and very lazy.in winter its baths and pjs once home(me too some nights!).summer i tend lob them out on the trampolene in tshirtsand shorts as dont mind washing in summer.im a 70s kid too and had to change when i got inSmile

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:52

live putting on my pjs at night is my very favourite part of the day Grin It usually happens between 7 and 8pm. Any friends who dare to come round have to put up with me bra - less and in very ancient pjs. Strangely, most stick to the daytime now which is how I like it.

bessie this will seem a bit random so long after you mentioned it but what sort of band is your dh in and what does he do in it?

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 17:53

Or will that out you?

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 18:00

carrots all my friends do it too so i dont have be bothered what others like...it was a good way to scare off n power canvasser once....went to door having bin play fighting with kids hair on end and scruffieast pjs every(but sooo comfy)and just before i oopened the front door belllowed at the kids to calm door(lots squealing as opened front door and stuck my head round it)
he scuttled off fairly rapidlyGrin

Eggrules · 06/01/2012 18:29

DS had fishfingers, beans and toast for dinner (special request).

Carrots that is the second time today that I have been asked that question. (hums Twilight Zone theme). DS(5) has supper, bath and then changes from uniform to pjs at 6pm; bed at 8pm. That is enough washing.

I raced upstairs and hour ago to put my PJs on. Is it weird that I saved my TKMAXX DKNY pjs for tonight cos it is Friday? Nothing wrong with comfortable Grin.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 18:40

Mine ended up with quorn sausage, baked beans, oven chips and sweetcorn. Dd scoffed the lot, Ds has had 2 forks of sweetcorn.

That is what I get for letting them watch tv while they eat tonight

Egg it would be funny if it had been me who asked your earlier in RL too but I have hardly seen a soul today.

You put me to shame with your fancy pjs. The best I have got is Gap ones (which I once was complimented on at yoga and didn't have the heart to admit they were actually my pjs) Grin

Eggrules · 06/01/2012 18:54

You freaked me out a bit because I have never been asked that question before Grin

I love TX Maxx and get Elle McPhearson, CK and DKNY bargains - you have to look all of the time. I buy 2 sets a year and save them for holidays and Xmas. My Pjs are nicer than my clothes.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 19:01

When I used to have a job I used to love CK shoes. I allowed myself one pair a year and wore them until they collapsed. Gone are the days though. Now it is running trainers nearly all the time.

Scout19075 · 06/01/2012 19:03

I had an un-napping toddler today so the witching hour turned into witching nearly-three hours and I'm tired. I put him down early -- I couldn't take it any more.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 19:12

Scout I only iron sheets for visitors. My dmum irons teatowels, pyjamas and sheets and is Shock by me but it doesn't bother me at all!

Scout19075 · 06/01/2012 19:20

carrots My MiL irons EVERYTHING, even the bathtowels and boxers/undies. She does come from a different generation, though (she's in her early 70s, MrScout is younger than me and is in his early/mid 30s). I told MrScout ages ago not to expect that!

Eggrules · 06/01/2012 19:21

I usually iron my own duvet covers and pillow cases but didn't yesterday. I washed dried and put it back on. Never iron DS's or guests.

Scout my DS works a condensed week and has 4 very long days. Tis a pita especially when I have to do some work when DS goes to bed.

I am thinking of emptying the toilet out and scrubbing it on Sunday. Have never done such a thorough job but bleach isn't getting rid of hard water nonsense.

bessie26 · 06/01/2012 19:22

scout the only things we iron in this house are work shirts!

Hahaha carrots, it's not that kind of band! DH plays bass guitar in a 60's cover band, they usually play at things like weddings and 50th birthday parties. Sometimes, if they play at a social club they have to stop in the middle of the evening for the bingo!

live I got fed up with my folder full of recipes & started putting them on my blog and it's brilliant! DH always knows what we're eating & can always find the recipe! (no excuses!!)

I'll put the book titles up later.

Eggrules · 06/01/2012 19:24

My Mil irons undies. I consider laundry part of personal hygiene. I wash DH's stuff cos it can go in with the rest. If he isn't happy he can do it himself. Washing most days is leading to a fluff and fold situation -cool.

Scout19075 · 06/01/2012 19:33

I do all of the laundry together. I don't mind doing laundry -- I just hate matching socks and ironing. Works shirts are usually the only thing that gets ironed, though the odd polo gets done if they're horribly creased.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 19:40

3 out of the 4 of us will put on a load of laundry (dd is just learning so I keep a bit of an eye) and we often sort it all together, especially if it has built up into a big pile. Dh does his own ironing, unless I am really bored and then I might do it for him. Dd can do some of her ironing but there are things I don't risk. I did all my own by the age of 11 so her time is running out, although I see it as a gradual handing over or independence. With ds I am just happy if he manages to put his clothes in the wash basket, although he loves pairing socks and folding tea towels and face cloths etc so he still does his bit.

Scout19075 · 06/01/2012 19:47

Toddler is only 26 months so he doesn't do much yet! He does like helping put things in the machine and take it out (and transfer from washer to dryer down at my PiL) so I encourage the help. I don't, however, let him play with the buttons or knobs for fear he'll try to do it without me. He still helped at the launderette and I let him do the money (put the coins in the machine). He likes being in charge of cards and money when we go out, so I encourage that, too.

carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2012 19:49

He is doing pretty well for 26 months Scout - mine are 7 and 10 so they need to gradually learn the skills.

Eggrules · 06/01/2012 20:17

Well done to ToddlerScout (and his mum)

DS puts his dirty clothes into the machine. I have stopped pairing Dh's socks and return his clean clothes with loose ones on top. The washing machine must be full of odd socks.

liveinazoo · 06/01/2012 20:23
