Mine went on strike for a month in November and there isn't a launderette for miles, so it nearly killed us. My sympathies.

Scout19075 · 05/01/2012 11:23

I think it is. In fact, I think I know what the problem is but MrScout won't let me DIY it.

We have one on the High Street, which isn't far, but it's in an awkward spot regarding car parking so I can only take up what I can carry while pushing toddler (if I let him walk we'll never get there and he'll inevidably want to be carried which I can't do if I'm carrying washing and powder).

Then again, I have the same problem with the charity shops -- they're at such an awkward spot on the High Street that it's a challenge with a stroller and bags of donations.

Time for a Brew

Everyone is getting loads done. Grin

I have:

  • cleaned the worktops.
  • got the dcs to tidy their toys.
  • helped the dcs to declutter the table as some of it was mine.
  • tidied the main bathroom (dcs helped as it was their bath toys making a mess)
  • done some of the ironing backlog.

We hang shirts and tops on hangers on the pulley and it makes a huge difference to ironing. Even if they still need ironed it is still much easier.

bessie your dd1 was very early Shock How long did you have to wait to take her home? Has it had any impact on her? Thing like that remind us (as if we need it) how precious our babies are.

I did say "snowing". Now it is sleet/rain. We are definitely having four seasons in one day here.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 11:33

I have done:
more washing up
Cleaned my worktops
cleaned the front of the oven doors, DD keeps admiring her reflection in them Grin (they are mirror like).

I will have to do an early lunch again as DD is requesting "toast and cows milk".
I think in future I may have to give her a bigger mid morning snack!

liveinazoo · 05/01/2012 11:49

im back!black cat im with you on the early lunch vibe today
i now have 2foot square space under my stairs
have contacted childrens centre attached to kids school and theyve agreed take some books, jigsaws and playdoh
dp just rang asking we still got any stair gates need a home apparently one his clients partners just had a baby and they have a toddler and moneys tight......just offloaded plastic box full baby girl clothes, box fischer price and a fireguard also!!!!
plan tackle bit more of the cupboard and find the worksurface next to the sink before pik up time then i peer support and the kids centre breastfeeding group so be quickest tea i can muster when we get back!

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 11:54

We are having an early lunch too as ds is going to play with his dgrandad today and dd, dmum and I are going to the pantomime

liveinazoo that sounds like a busy and very worthwhile day today. It feels great when you can clear space in your house and make a big difference for someone else as well. It certainly motivates more clearing out!

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 12:11

DD has already eaten her toast! I am Shock. She normally takes at least an hour to eat anything!

Have fun at the pantomime Carrots

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 12:14

Maybe she is having a little growth spurt. Mine eat like horses every now and again and I am Shock and then I notice their jeans are too short or their shoes are tight. I think that must be what is wrong with me - I am having a growth spurt so need to eat twice my necessary calorie intake Grin

The washing machine has finally finished and I have got it all hung up. I have resisted the urge to put more on as there is nowhere to dry it.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 12:21

Right, I best get back to it soon.

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 12:28

I am the same BlackCat and we need to leave in 15 mins. Surely that is time for one more cuppa Grin

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 12:33

Here you are Carrots Brew

bessie26 · 05/01/2012 12:42

carrots Have fun at the panto! DD1 had to stay in until she was able to suckle, which they learn how to do at 37wks, so she was in for about 3 weeks. Luckily we only live a 10-15min walk away from the hospital!

It's got all dark & blowy here too now - I think it started raining the second we stepped outside

Eggrules · 05/01/2012 12:48

liveinazoo good for you re your get up an go. I am making plans for under my stairs to make sure it doesn't get cluttered up.

Bessie - I have narrowed my search to:
Poundland (for small lidded boxes for action figures)
Ikea H14xW28xD20 £1.90
Argos H20xW30Dx40 £4.99

Need to sort out shoes, hats/glovesetc. I am thinking of getting a basket in a natural finish to put on shelves under the stairs.

Beds changed and bedrooms tidyish

Can I be bothered to go to the shops? Going to see if I can be inventive with party food in freezer to make dinner.

Dlamis · 05/01/2012 13:56

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 14:44

Just having a short break before I carry on.
I have been packing the Christmas decorations properly but it took a lot longer than it should have.(As I was packing a box DD was unpacking one.)Hmm
Also have hoovered.

Just need to pack the boxes away properly next (they are all on the landing).

Also to do:
School run
sort dinner
and wash up again!

bessie26 · 05/01/2012 16:03

wow live very impressive work today!

I didn't get much done during DD2s afternoon nap as the electrician came round to see if he could find any reason for our elec tripping at 5am yesterday (got woken up by the baby alarm beeping LOUDLY). He couldn't find anything (can't decide if I'm pleased or not about that) & he's disconnected the circuit that was tripping as we don't think it's used.

I've got to get myself & DD2 fed before 430 when I have to go pick up DD1 (she has tea at pre-school) If yesterday was anything to go by, she will be a nightmare exhausted from a hard day's play with no nap (DH has been instructed to be home for bathtime!)

Tonight I need to check what we're eating/doing tomorrow (have both the girls at home with me) have a bath. DH is out again so I must try to have an early night so I have the energy to stay up & socialise with him tomorrow night!

redlac · 05/01/2012 16:45

We have been a busy lot today

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning a glass electric hob? I've been a slattern and not cleaned it other than wipe downs and now have cruddy rings on it - do I have to get a glass scraper to get it off?

Breakfast dishes
Up and dressed to slippers
Swish and swipe
Sweep kitchen floor
Load of washing on
Hoover downstairs
Hang up washing
Clean rug that dog decided to pee on
Iron school clothes for next week
Last minute additions to tesco order
15 minutes in hall
Dinner
Dinner dishes
Sweep kitchen floor
shine sink

Dlamis · 05/01/2012 17:02

zoo - Tried that once :o Just kidding. I forgot to pick ds up once, (got days mixed up and thought he was at school club) and they phoned me after 15 minutes to enquire who was picking him up, so I don't think we'd get away with it.

Can't believe how tidy the place looks now the christmas stuff has gone. Now if i could just get the ds's to stop getting their toys out ever again ........................

BoffinMum · 05/01/2012 18:00

Yes, you need a razor blade type scraper thingy for the hob.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 18:50

I have --given up-- ran out of energy for now.

Time for a Brew and chill out!

Eggrules · 05/01/2012 18:51

I think flylady is Derren Brown. By the power of suggestion, the flylady sink is the same shape as the Ikea sink I wanted. Confused

Any caramel kegs, please? They are the only ones I eat.

Looks like I need to add a hotspot for day 6. I am beginning to feel like the buckeroo mule; this is loads more complicated than I thought it would be.

Eggrules · 05/01/2012 18:54

liveinazoo £1 clear boxes are small, have 4 different colours and a lock catch. Perfect for lego and figures.

BlackCat I will join you - I may need wine though.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 18:59

Eggrules We are all probably doing too much too soon but I sometimes feel the early Baby steps are not enough alone to keep the average house in order.
That's just my opinion on it and others may not agree.

I seem to get stuck at the washing up/sorting my kitchen stage.Blush

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 05/01/2012 19:04

Just had a look at the links Eggrules and those sinks are similar!
