Oooh new people!

Hello! I'm 39, in East Anglia & live with DH, DD1(3), DD2(8m) and 2 cats. I'm on maternity leave atm, but will return to work 3 days a week in April.

I first started flying exactly a year ago, I've managed to keep up most of the baby steps, but need to get in the habit of doing more missions & zone work.

Eggrules · 02/01/2012 16:59

Missions? As well? Feck me; I can't even find them.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 17:11

FlyLady.net

Then go to "Launch pad" and missions are on there.

Just do as much or as little as you like.

I personally am sticking to baby steps for now.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 17:22

I am sticking to babysteps, and whatever I see myself needing done, and I will build up from there - it doesn't take long.

On that note, I should hang that load of washing or I will have no clean tops to wear tomorrow.

OP posts:
mummyosaurus · 02/01/2012 18:47

I'd like to join please, babysteps sounds good to me.

bessie26 · 02/01/2012 19:00

parsnips are you looking for an excuse to stay in your PJs all day? Grin

What babystep are you doing tomorrow? I know some of them are a bit "nothing" (e.g. Getting dressed to shoes), but if we start skipping them I am liable to forget where we got up to (baby brain) and we're probably missing the point about building the routine slowly?

bessie26 · 02/01/2012 19:02

Hi mummy have you done any flying before? Have you shined your sink?!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 19:22

Hi Mummy welcome to the thread.

bessie Grin

I have hung up the washing though and put on another load as I am desperate to get out of the house tomorrow so I don't want the excuse of no clean clothes.

Meal planning is easy this week as today was left overs from the family meal yesterday and tomorrow is left over curry. There is still food everywhere so it will just be fruit and some veg, bread and milk hopefully for a while.

I am hoping that, as I cooked, dh will do the dishes and then I will shine the sink.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 02/01/2012 19:27

DDs in bed, I'm off for a quick run , then shower, then clean taps in bath/shower (I did all the others as part of my sink shining yesterday), then I need to finish the meal planner we have no leftovers & the cupboards are looking VERY bare, so I think DH will be doing a big shop tomorrow

liveinazoo · 02/01/2012 19:44

helo.ive popped in from the gigantic thread and was hoping as this ones a bit smaller might be able to follow and seek help a bit easier(though will be prob sliding back and forth if thats ok)

mummyosaurus · 02/01/2012 19:57

I have not done this before. Did look at the website once, but couldn't work out a thing.

My sink is shiny!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 20:05

Hi there liveinazoo. Hopefully we can all help each other.

mummyosaurus it is easy - just copy the rest of us and you will be fine.

The dcs are now in bed. Dd is doing the "Jack in a Box" a bit but dh is being really unfriendly so I think she might stay put now.

I am back in my jammies Grin

Thanks Blackcat turns out I did mission 4 today. I am just going to do the zone area for 15 mins a day rather than sticking to a mission.

I think this babysteps is all I can manage without feeling like I am doing a massive house blitz every day.

All ready for tomorrow with shiny sink. In fact I am off to buy new mascara and nude lipstick to help with morning routine.

liveinazoo · 02/01/2012 20:32

i got the shiny sink going on and up and dressed.whats the plan for tomorrow?im getting a bit confused whats next alreadyBlush

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 20:37

I think this is what we do tomorrow If we make the babystep number the date then it should be easy to keep track - so that is babystep 3. Is that where everyone else is?

Basically we shine the sink, get dressed to shoes and do whatever else we feel like doing.

OP posts:
Eggrules · 02/01/2012 20:40

Flylady babysteps says
Day 1 Getting Dressed to lace-up shoes
Day 2 Keeping our sink shining (done each night)
Day 3 Going to the FlyLady BigTent group and reading messages (meh).

Day 4 look at notes
Day 5 "Looking at our posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom"

It sounds like I need to write post its and stick them in the bathroom. I don't want to sign up to emails and so I am not sure what is on the notes.

Looking forward to seeing what I should be doing.

redlac · 02/01/2012 20:41

Is it normal to feel quite protective over your shiny sink? I keep going in and drying it after DH has been in for a drink of water

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 20:45

redlac I am very protective of my shiny sink (although my sink is black so it doesn't shine exactly). It is a great healthy eating technique to shine the sink early evening because then you don't want to eat anything and mess it up. Grin

OP posts:
Eggrules · 02/01/2012 20:50

I don't understand Day 3. Is there anything before babysteps? Xmas Grin

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 20:54

There isn't anything before babysteps Eggrules.

I don't personally bother with the Big Tent stuff but I know some people find it motivating and helpful. I get my motivation on here instead. Grin

Flylady takes it slow to begin with and it builds up pace later on. If you go to fast at the beginning you risk burning out and giving up.

If you shine your sink and dress to shoes you will have done all you need to to build up useful habits.

Anything else is optional right now.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 21:45

Hello and Welcome all new people.Smile

I think I am going to stick with the baby step for each date so today is
number 2 as it is 2nd of January. (best way of remembering where we are!).

Today I have done:
Breakfast
shower, get dressed
shined sink (Yesterday)
done some washing
hanged washing on airers
some washing up/drying up
taken down Christmas tree and most of decorations.

Tomorrow I need to do:
Babysteps 1, 2, 3,
and pack away Christmas stuff
plus anything else I fancy.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 21:48

I have just hung a second load of washing. I am struggling for space though - the pulley, airer and all radiators are full and I have some items hanging on the back of the kitchen chairs Blush

Dh just went to do the dishes and discovered he hadn't switched it on when he put in his lunch dishes - so the dishwasher is on but there are still tonight's dishes on the worktop. Grrr!

I have still to declutter the kitchen table too - I would like a clear table for breakfast tomorrow morning.
