BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 12:14

Sorry that link didn't work!

Babysteps

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 12:16

Right that one did. To anyone who needs to know click on the link (above) and the Baby steps are below where it says Today.

Scout19075 · 02/01/2012 12:17

Can I pop in/join in? Started doing this sometime in 2011, life got chaotic and I stopped. Want to start up again for 2012.

We're still away on "holiday" until this afternoon but want to shine my sink tonight and start tomorrow fresh.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 12:27

Hello Scout 19075 Yes you are more than welcome but as I say this has been a much quieter thread and recently there has only been 4 of us here.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 12:42

Right I'm off to have some lunch.

Eggrules · 02/01/2012 13:15

Hello flyers - I've jumped over from the other thread as I clearly have lost the plot.

Started yesterday with a shiny and as of 30 mins ago my kitchen is pristine = yay
I was still in my (xmas dkny) pjs until 30 mins ago = boo.

Off to search baby steps. I mostly work from home and only ever wear shoes outside and so cannot imagine putting them on at 7am for the day. Hmm

redlac · 02/01/2012 13:17

Hello! Saw the link to this thread on the ginormous baby steps thread so if it's okay with you can I pop in here too? I need all the encouragement I can get so might need the two threads!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 13:17

Hi Scout (are you named after the character in the book?) Welcome to the thread. You are popping in at just the right time. All we have done so far is shine our sinks and get dressed to shoes. I haven't done the last one yet. I am still in my pyjamas Blush although that is unusual for me. If you have done it before you will know roughly what is going on.

I have managed to get all of us (except dh who is out running with the dog) to sit down and eat a healthy lunch together. Progress towards normal life again.

I have been building a Christmas Playmobil set with ds and helping dd with her sewing project. I have also become obsessed with trying to solve the Rubiks cube Santa brought for dd Blush

I will get washed but dh wants a long soak in the bath after his run so I will let him run that when he comes in before I get in the shower.

Hi Eggrules.

I'm not sure what everyone else does but I don't bother with shoes unless I am going out first thing. I just wear flip flops or slippers (depending on how cold it is). Wink

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 13:24

Hi redlac welcome to the thread. Smile

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 13:36

Just having another Brew then I better get off here and tackle the kitchen before the washing up takes over again!.

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 02/01/2012 13:48

Welcome, Scout, Eggrules & redlac.

We've had a very slow start today. Hopefully if we can have a few nights' more sleep it should be easier to get going.

How do other SAHMs manage for adult company in the week? I'm struggling a bit with that today - none of our usual activities are on this week so I've got precisely nothing planned (other than exciting things like taking DS to the doctor and doing the market shop). I normally get to see DH on his own for 5-10 mins a day; other than that, it's just over dinner with DS.

I've e-mailed a couple of friends to see if they want to get together later this week but they've not replied yet. I thin kthe trouble is I'm a (mild) extrovert so when I don't have much adult company, I have less energy.

Eggrules · 02/01/2012 13:52

Sorry - that should be babysteppers

Flylady babysteps should be
Day 1 Getting Dressed to lace-up shoes
Day 2 Keeping our sink shining (done each night)
Day 3 Going to the FlyLady BigTent group and reading messages (meh)

Have done:
. breakfast
. DS bath/get dressed
. one load of washing on
. DW cleaned

. kitchen cleaned
. shower /get dressed
. Christmas decorations are being taken down.
. strikethrough feels great

Tonight I will have another shower, dry and ghd my hair ready for tomorrow. I will get ready first thing.

Zone 1: The Entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room (January 1-7) 15 mins of de-cluttering a day.
No dining room - table is in the kitchen.

Off to zone the porch for 15 mins?

Does this sound right?

I am more interested in the practical de-cluttering. I am now mostly working from home whilst my DS is in school. I need to sort things out and make time for everything rather than butterflying around treading water.

My goals this year:
1.paint: kitchen, conservatory, hall stairs and landing/bathroom.

  1. Garden - massive clear out planned in April
  2. Living room renovate by next Xmas.
  3. Couch to 5K- starting until next week.
Eggrules · 02/01/2012 13:58

Hi Blackcat - I may manage top wear socks?

Hey Angels - I love working from home but find it very isolating. DH works very long hours Mon - Thur and sometimes the only adult conversation is on the school run. MN is a lifesaver. My resolution was to make time for friends and so I need to add arranging lunch with friends to my list.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 14:07

Hello Angel - Welcome Eggrules and redlac - I have been finding it a bit weird without adult company too Angel.

Dh is around and family have been in and out but I haven't seen any friends due to various things.

At the end of last week I was glad to get a break from everyone but now I am refreshed a bit I feel more sociable again. I am the same as you and see a lot of people with my general comings and goings with the dcs. When that stops I have to make much more effort.

Most of my friends have family much further away and are away for the holidays though, or have houses full of visitors so I don't like to pester them. Even facebook is much quieter Shock

I don't think you can do much more than email, text or phone people and see who is around. I imagine quite a few mums are getting cabin fever and ready for a bit of company or a trip out of the house.

We are always around too if you want a chat. I know it is not quite the same...

Egg that is quite a list. Have you done Flylady before? If so go for it. If not take it a step at a time and build up to it - you will get it all done!

My hope for this year is to get into the habit of doing zones and missions again gradually.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 14:08

Hi angels, I'm afraid the only adult company I get when DH is working is my mum if I see her or if I go to toddler groups. (Lonely sole that I am).Grin
I say, I'm glad I found MN too. I know it's not the same as seeing people but it's better than noone.

Eggrules don't do the zone work unless you want to.
Most of us on here are just doing babysteps and any other essential jobs we feel we want to do.
If you want to do them then don't let me stop you but the idea is if you are new to FlyLady you just build it up one baby step at a time.

Right I really must get of here now.

catch y'all later.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 14:09

On the shoe front I have got into the habit of wearing really comfy trainers round the house and it does actually make a difference. I don't know what it is but it makes me busier. (She says, still in her pyjamas)

Sorry Carrots x posts.

redlac · 02/01/2012 14:16

Thank you for the welcome! By way of introduction I am 38, live in central scotland with one dd who will be 6 in march, married and work full time.

Because of my new found enthusiam for all things housekeeping and house proudness I have finally replaced the light shades in the hall with the new ones I bought over 6 months ago!

Hope everyone is having a good day

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 14:16

No worries BlackCat - there has been a flurry of activity. Dh has just got home and the dog is exhausted! Hopefully I can get my shower soon now!

Oh yay! Another Scot! I am 39 and live in the North East of Scotland - fairly rural. I have a dd (10) and a ds (7). I am a SAHM but out of the house a lot after school with activities. I also have a few pets (dog, guinea pigs and rabbits)

Started flylady/ babysteps yesterday by shining the sink. I felt like today (day 3) didn't have anything practical and so I looked at the Zone. My Porch and Hall are tiny and so 15 mins a day sounds doable.

I live quite a distance from where I used to work and my friends and family live in a different city. I have been in the Midlands for 12 years and started working from home part time following redundancy last March. I have started making new friends and have tonnes of visitors staying over Xmas. Looking forward to a bit of time to myself this week - hence the need to get started with the house.

Off to look for the most comfortable shoes I own.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 02/01/2012 14:53

15 mins washing up done.

For the new people, I am 37, live in NW England and have a DS (8) and DD (3).
Also have a cat and DH.Grin Am a SAHM.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 14:54

I am washed and dressed! Yay! And dh has put a wash on. Aiming to get all the dishes done and the kitchen table decluttered today.
