Right I'm going to catch up with you all tomorrow.
(Need to get back in the habit of going to bed at a sensible time)Wink

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 21:55

DONE! How fast was I? Dh thinks I have gone mad buzzing around with Lego at this time of night. The table is tidy though, apart from the washing hung on the chairs. Hurrah! Thanks redlac Smile

redlac · 02/01/2012 21:58

Impressive! Only took 5 minutes - that means youveearned a 10 minutes sit down with a glass of wine cup of tea :)

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 22:15

Good call redlac a Brew is a great idea. I am also trying to build the habit of doing a little job while the kettle boils eg wipe down the microwave quickly, that sort of thing. It seems to work. Brew it is - anyone else want one?

OP posts:
redlac · 02/01/2012 22:18

I'll have a Brew just milk in mine please!

Had to explain my flurry of housework activity today to DH as I normally only clean when I am mad at him or moody :)

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 22:23

Angry cleaning is very effective and therapeutic I find.

Here is your Brew

I put the soup pan in to soak while the kettle boiled and rinsed the bottles for recycling.

OP posts:
redlac · 02/01/2012 22:40

Thanks for the brew - i'll have it then go up to bed and read and leave DH on the couch watching bloody match of the day! I agree about angry cleaning - need to get mad in order to face my oven!

My sink is shiny, my cup and tea bag are out and ready for first thing and there is a load in the washing machine on timer so it's finished for when I get up

Thanks for the welcome to this thread!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 02/01/2012 22:41

Sleep well everyone. We are stuck waiting for the dishwasher to finish so we can put on the next load. There are too many to handwash [lazy]

bessie26 · 02/01/2012 22:47

Wow you lot are being very impressive!

I packed DD1s bags for tomorrow (off to play at the GPs) while I was running my bath, and have just finished the meal plan and decluttered the last of the wine Grin

I need to shine my sink (it's actually matt black, so it won't ever be shiny), and clean the bath taps (I forgot after my bath), and then goto bed.

I've got loads of chores to do tomorrow, one of which is to sort out a blood test - parsnips, didn't you say the other day you had to get your bloods checked too?

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 02/01/2012 22:47

Hello everyone, old & new. Xmas Smile

I'm doing babysteps, just my own version and very slowly. I class myself as a SN FLY-er and I generally can't do more than one babystep a week. I've lapsed a reasonable amount, but some habits have definitely stuck so it's been good progress. Xmas Smile

At the moment I'm working on putting out mine and DS's clothes as well as going to bed before 11pm.

I've been putting together some bits for my control journal tonight. Makes me feel very organised!

I've also reorganised our art & craft materials, which is very satisfying.

To add to the introductions, I'm 32, a SAHM with a 2 y.o. DS and I live in the Home Counties (but I was born in the midlands, grew up in East Anglia and would love to live in Scotland so I don't have much geographical loyalty! Xmas Grin)

We're clutching on to Christmas here till Twelfth Night - I hope not everyone is taking their decorations down today as I'm planning to take DS out to see some Christmas lights tomorrow.

bessie26 · 03/01/2012 07:00

Morning!

Just incase you haven't read it before, here is some info on the babysteps, and this is where we are, day 3 - read her website

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 03/01/2012 07:14

Morning all,

Great link Bessie.

I avoid the emails (signing up at big tent) as I have heard you can end up getting hundreds of them.

I am up early today in practice for tomorrow (Back to school). I am going to attempt to have breakfast and get dressed before 8.30am.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 03/01/2012 07:58

Breakfast done, time for another Brew now then off to get dressed.

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 03/01/2012 08:01

parsnips, I just act mature. Xmas Grin To be fair, your DCs are quite a lot older than DS.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 03/01/2012 08:45

Right, I have now got dressed and DD is up. She slept all night Yay!!Grin
DS is still in bed having his last lie in before school tomorrow.

bessie26 · 03/01/2012 09:52

black great news about DDs sleeping! I didn't have to get up for DD2 either! (she did cry out a couple of times, but settled herself back to sleep ok)

We didn't do badly at getting up this morning (DH back at work today). I really need to get myself washed before the DC are up, but DD2 was awake at 630 this morning so I didn't manage it today.

DD1 is off at GPs today & DD2 is back in bed napping. I've got a load of washing on & another waiting to go in. I've made a brew & now need to write the shopping list before I do anything else.

Hope you all enjoyed the sight of your shiny sinks this morning Grin

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 03/01/2012 10:10

Bessie It's great isn't it if you get a good nights sleep.Smile

I feel raring to go this morning!
I have my music on and am off to do my second lot of washing up.

Just a tip for the new people:

set your timer for 15 minutes and do a job for that amount of time. then stop for a break. this is one of the later babysteps. I find it really helps me to focus on boring jobs like washing up.

right I'm off to set my timer.

What does everyone else have planned?

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 03/01/2012 10:53

Morning all! Great link bessie thank you. It helps to reread it all too.

It was lovely getting up this morning to a shiny sink. It does make it easier to get going in the morning.

I am washed and dressed to indoor shoes.

I have also done a lot of ironing so feel quite pleased with that progress.

We were planning a big walk with the dog but it is WILD out there - ds would literally get blown away I think Shock

Dd has voluntarily been tidying her bedroom though and I tidied the end of our bed as there were boxes and gift bags and general clutter there.

The shiny sink and getting dressed really do make you feel more motivated.

How is everyone else getting on? What have all of you got planned?

I am hoping everyone will help sort and put away a lot of clean laundry and to do some more.

parsnips the weather sounds awful up where you are. It is grey & windy here, but no-where near as bad. We were promised heavy rain so I wasn't going to go out today, but I might check the forecast again as I'd like to get out for a bit of fresh air with DD2.

I've had to re-do my meal plan & shopping list as I realised I had got a bit carried away & was cooking far too often when I have lots of food that needs eating up in the freezer. I've made myself a hot chocolate & just need to cross the things off the list that we already have in the cupboard. I might try to re-write the list later as there is lots of crossing out & tiny writing which DH won't appreciate having to interpret later!

DD2 will be up in a minute so had better get a move on.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 03/01/2012 11:10

bessie these storms are becoming a once a week event it seems. We are getting into the habit of having our candles and flasks at the ready for power cuts.

On the meal planning front I suspect we will have to eat party food for lunch for the next few days. My dmum brought loads up for New Year's Day but we hardly needed any of it and it is clogging up the fridge. It has already been frozen and defrosted so I can't bung it in the freezer, even if there was room.
Brie and cranberry parcel anyone? Or would you prefer a mini pizza with pesto on top? Grin

Morning!

Tis wild weather here too - had to dodge misplaced trampolines and downed fencing to get to the shops this morning.

So far breakfast dishes done, towels in the wash, off to a birthday party soon so present wrapped, meal plan for next week done along with tesco online order.

To do later is build up new computer desk, another load of washing, episode of Lost worth of ironing, hoover downstairs

Have a good day
