Lol Freak! I may brave some sort of splash session later. I wouldn't mind a bit of shouting but DD is now at the stage where she'll cry if she hears crying...makes for a fun bathtime, not.

Yeah it's hard, ds used to hate the bath completely but has gradually got better and better and has now had a couple of proper hairwashes. DD has always loved it, funny how different they are!

OP posts:
anonymousbird · 17/10/2011 15:09

My DS (7) would spend all day in the bath. He just lies back and lolls, only eyes and nose showing through the bubbles. He has always always loved a bath....! He and DD (almost 6) still share a bath, but possibly we are getting to the stage where I need to separate them. Not quite sure what "the done thing" is for bathing children of different sexes separately. They are still so innocent and have bathed together since time began and it doesn't bother me or them at all. But there will come a point!

Right.

Anon - i know what you mean, i think from what others have said it's when they ask to go separately.
DS2 goes through phases of loving it to the point of trying to climb in fully clothed, then hating it when he screams even when the word is mentioned.

DS2 coughing a lot - so far managing on his blue inhaler, wondering if this is going to be the test of the outreach asthma service...have doc appt for DD anyway so can get her to check DS over at the same time.

(ok I started this post last night, then a friend popped round & we got chatting so didn't finish it!)

Hi Freak :)

Well doc appt went to hell in a handbasket as DS2 screamed (not even there for him!) and had to be fireman-lifted home - whilst pushing pram, fun. DD just bemused by the whole thing. And the GP just took my word for it about her uneven creases (though she did say she could see the lazy eye, which is a 50-50 comment as i sort of hoped i was imagining it), so didn't really need to be there at all!

Then DS2 went downhill with his cough + asthma Mon night so hardly any sleep. Called out the outreach service Tues morning, but he didn't need the nebuliser, so actually it was a quite a good test of the system.

Anyway he's back at school & I've not been achieving much at all, oops.

Today:

  • DS2 despatched to sch DONE
  • breakfast DONE
  • dressed DONE
  • 2 birthday cards DONE
  • arrange service visit for alarm
  • tidy kitchen
  • start laundry
  • lunch
  • pop to docs for DH prescription & DD referral info
  • poss charity shop trip?
  • need more dummies for DD (she's decided she only likes 2 i have, bit too risky to get by on i think!)
  • DS2 home, check bag
  • tea & tidy up
  • walk? (depends on ds2)
  • DC to bed, dinner, wine, tv, bed :)

Ongoing:

  • finish pruning hedges by back fence
  • book handyman in to clean gutters (& other jobs)
  • order blind for kitchen side door
  • pictures to label 'animals' & 'people' & 'cars' boxes
  • see if any toys can go/be put away pre-Christmas influx Started

Hi Peeps. JKS - all sounds quite tough going for you. DS has a lazy eye, though we caught it early (he was 3) and found a fantastic specialist in Cambridge and now he is 7, the improvement has been amazing... good luck. He's still got shocking eyesight, but at least both eyes work and he can see in 3D now. Hope DS2 ok.

Short list:

DC to school DONE
Fill car and go to Supermarket DONE
Pack bags DONE
Tidy up before leaving DOING
Check Chicks
Pick up DC
Go to the seaside!!!!

See you all next week. Have good weekends.

JKSLtd · 20/10/2011 15:57

Thanks Anon - what does DS have to do to help improve it? Think when DD came out face up & slightly wonky she must have squished her right eye a bit, it looks a bit smaller than the other one - not sure anyone else can see this though so it's not major, and the pupil just doesn't quite match up with the other one. She may grow out it it, hopefully - i seem to manage to make 'faulty' kids, ho hom Hmm

Anyway, managed to get out of the house and get some shopping & charity shop trip done so at least i've managed that today - haven't made it to the docs - it is literally around the corner but never seem to make it.
And not risking walking round there with DS2 later...unless i get possessed by a bizarre sense of optimism....

JKS - DS definitely has always had slightly uneven eyes too, don't know if that is behind it. We had to do patches every day for the last four years. Luckily DS is quite a tolerant little chap and just got on with it and little protest. I didn't know that your eyes are "mature" at 7 yo so the earlier you spot the better. Just keep an eye on it (no pun intended!) The specialists deal with v young children, I've seen 1 year olds with patches and glasses.
