AKA 'Oh yikes, a new thread cometh...' Grin

I Freak, do solemnly swear to post regularly on the new thread so as to avoid an unseasonal title.

Grin

FreakoidOrganisoid · 12/10/2011 16:26

Achieved today: Sweet FA
Level of drama today: High
Stress levels: High

Had a message on landline answerphone to call x number back. Rang it and it was wc gf (xgf?) She said she hadn't left the message but while I was on the phone could I tell her the truth about what had really gone on. Then she started asking me direct questions eg had we ever slept together and I didn't want to answer one way or another which kind of spoke for itself really. She kept on telling me she needed to know so in the end I admitted it and answered her questions. Was that the right thing to do? I feel like a massive bitch but I think it would have been worse to lie. Or would it?

Way to start the new thread hey?

OP posts:
minimammoth · 12/10/2011 16:49

Freaki it's always best to tell the truth, in the long run, lying just gets complicated. You did good, not massive bitch at all, it would be worse to give her the impression that all was squeeky clean.
Must go back to last thread now and read back stuff.

anonymousbird · 12/10/2011 16:59

Oh Freaki.

a) congrats on kicking us off
b) I like the pledge

FreakoidOrganisoid · 12/10/2011 17:08

Thanks you two Smile I didn't say too much, just answered her questions.

I think I need an additional pledge to avoid drama! I do seem to have attracted it recently.

Evening - well done on the new thread Freaki.

Grin

I agree about WCXGF, much better that you tell the truth.

We are looking at schools for DS1. The two we've seen this week are both very good, we do have a preference but it won't be a disaster either way. It feels so odd to be choosing a school - surely he is too little to be even thinking of going??

I've done quite well this week. I feel like I've faffed about, but actually I'm most of the way through my list.

THIS WEEK
Book and order Waitrose delivery for Friday - done
Get winter tyres fitted to my car - done
Packing (vast job, there are many paper lists Grin) - started
Ask neighbours about doing our bins for us on Monday
Holiday itinerary - need to speak to MIL - done
Get booking details from MIL - done
Ring about having shopping delivered to holiday acc.? - done
Plan meals for the week we get back - done
Sort out toys and DVDs, games etc to take - started
Buy more pants for DS1
Get chip in my windscreen fixed - done

I can't list as DS has soaked my keyboard so until DH gets home with one pilfered borrowed from the office I am reliant on my phone! It is currently propped next to the dehumidifier on full heat setting hoping it will dry out!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 14/10/2011 14:53

Well done JKS. It seems from playground discussion this morning that none of us is particularly happy with progress this year. Our class has two teachers and there seems to be a lack of communication and they don't seem to be recognising individual children's abilities at all. for example dd has been a fluent reader since last year but whoever did classroom reading with her wrote "practised magic e words eg vane, mane" Just completely pointless for dd as she already knows them and she is on ORT 9/10.

Also the other class has proper homework diaries with guidance for parents etc in and we've been given nothing.

Parents eve next week so we are all going to voice our concerns and hope to see improvement.

WC gf asked me more questions last night...this morning I got a nasty text from him saying "I will never ever be with you, I don't want you. You've got what you want now so why don't you just leave (gf) alone" Hmm

Just sick of it all tbh and will gladly have nothing more to do with either of them!

Had friend's ds all day today so no listing, he keeps doing a really shrill scream and it's driving me mad!

OP posts:
anonymousbird · 14/10/2011 17:20

Ali - not sure where it came from and it doesn't always work!!

Freaki - you are best off out of it all. I know easier said than done sometimes, but stick with it girl, and he's just cross because his GF has been asking questions and he doesn't like it. Not your fault she has approached you!

Re your DD's reading etc, seems strange that so inconsistent. What year is she in?

  • Up, showered and dressed DONE

anonymousbird · 14/10/2011 18:27

Mini - I love the sound of your office! I take you mean you have done the avoiding rather than done the filing, bringing order etc.....!

Gawd, thank goodness it's the weekend. Has felt a long time coming this week. It's so nearly Wine o'clock

Anyone know anything about beekeeping? DH has a bit of a hankering and I suspect it is the kind of thing that we need to go and actually learn about, but I have no idea how much of a time commitment it is? I mean, we have children, dog, chickens already. Do we really need to be worrying about and working with yet another set of creatures?!

kansasmum · 14/10/2011 20:57

I keep trying to post on here but end up procrastinating and forgetting!!

However now the kitchen is done and I have STORAGE I am determined to keep on top of the cleaning!!

So today I have:

Work AM
Rushed home to pick up dirty clothes and shove shoes in cupboard before my cleaner came.
House cleaned.
Laundry
Assembled new dining table- discovered it was damaged(not by me) arranged return and replacement which is arriving tomorrow- very impressed!:)
Repackaged said table (realised table was damaged after assembly and after I had chucked packing in garage of course!)

Made fruit cake for birthday cake order.
Iced cake.
Scooped poop. (Oh joy!)
Collected one very excited boy from school after Reception class party for filling marble jar for good behaviour!
Shamelessly served leftover for dinner.
Tidied lounge after DS had made a huge bloody mess den!

Still needed to make shopping list for tomorrow- ridiculously excited about treating myself to food shop in new Waitrose that has just opened!

Still have kitchen stuff and toys in living room and utility so plan to sort that this weekend! In between watching the Rugby!

minimammoth · 14/10/2011 21:34

anon. You spotted my cunningly worded list item.
Both my dds do beekeeping well one has given up as she became allergic to stings. But they do need care but rewards in honey make it worth it I think. The world needs more bees go for it. Most places have a local society that run courses etc.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 14/10/2011 22:38

I have run out of steam, we will continue in the morning. I cannot believe the amount of stuff we need to take. A large part of the problem is that there is no washing machine or laundrette where we are staying, so have got vast amounts of stuff for the boys.

Freaki - just ignore him. Mini is right, true colours showing now.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 15/10/2011 12:50

TBH I think he is most pissed off because in the back of his mind he thought if it didn't work with her he could try with me...and now he's lost his back up plan as well! I am considerably un-bothered by it really, had realised a while ago that the person I thought he was wasn't who he really was so never had any intention of being with him anyway. And it's also closure in a way, I kind of feel relieved now.

Am going to seriously look at myself and why I go for the wrong'uns though, it's not like I enjoy all the drama Hmm. I actually quite like a nice quiet settled life.

Anon dd is in year 1, so I can understand why they aren't particularly pushing her higher-a lot of the books on the next levels aren't suitable subject matter for a 5 year old- BUT what is the point of spending time teaching something she already knew a year ago? They just don't seem to be tailoring it towards the individual child at all.

Have been totally exhausted all this week (kind of felt pregnant actually, exhaustion, nausea, lack of concentration etc), maybe stress is part of it, though my friend has felt the same so it's probably a virus or something.

Basics only today. Will try to drag myself out to take the dc somewhere although they also seem exhausted today.

Mini wish baby 2 year old biscuit a happy birthday from us and say hi to hmhb too Smile

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 15/10/2011 13:41

Hi to HMHB from me too :) (cannot believe baby biscuit can be 2!)

Freak - how stressful, hopefully that will be the end of it, do you have caller id? maybe don't answer if it's her anymore, ot say you're in the middle of cooking or something so have to go to avoid being drawn in any more?
Re the teaching, hope you have a better parents evening than we did.

Unhelpfully i've got lots of friends with DDs who are all so bloody perfect at this age, reading & writing, etc. and makes me even more depressed about DS. But had lovely hour in the park this morning with a mum of a boy and our DSs played beautifully while we had a lovely chat. She is a teacher too so i feel a lot better now :)
