June know it's the fledgling flyers?

A warm welcome to the June Fledgling Flyers' thread.

If the state of your house is getting you down, this is the thread where we follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style Wink) with lots of chat and support along the way and where lace-up shoes are definitely optional.

A huge thank you to Linzer for keeping us all on track so splendidly during May and thank you to DroitwichMummy for the thread title.

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions

If you are feeling overwhelmed by clutter and mess, you can make a difference, one step at a time.

For more information, have a look here. You don't need to sign up to Flylady e-mails (we advise you not to do so in fact - you will be overwhelmed - all the information you need can be gleaned from this thread).

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Hope you are in bed all asleep, CHB.

Lady, that is a fantastic idea! Just added to my basket. Have you seen their website? The videos are great - they are just singing in their living room!

WhoKnows, the Shred is bearable at the time, but my thighs have been killing me all day since. It will get better, it will get easier, it will get better... (she says hopefully and optimistically)

I had the same issue with the weather, Blue. The laundry was hung up on the airer in the middle of some decent rain - and within minutes, there was glorious sunshine.

Shine sink done
Weekly Home Blessing - still to vacuum downstairs and then wash floors. The baby is in bed so will leave that until tomorrow.
Zone (I'm focusing on decluttering the study this week) done - I can see my desk!
Mission definitely procrastinating on this one

Evening routine:
Plan tomorrow done
Laundry done
Review tomorrow's meals done
Tidy lounge
Shine sink done
Clothes for tomorrow

Eek, I'm not usually this productive. I did the Shred first thing, quite literally. Do you think that could make the difference?

Stillchuckingit · 13/06/2011 22:39

x posts Bartlett top Flying marks today to you, particularly as I see you are flying with a baby

Waves at everyone!
Am still alive! Survived the house move! Phew! Am SO tired! DH been away 5 1/2 weeks, and not home until mid July! Must write him an enormous list of jobs to do! ;)
Have been so very busy cleaning, tidying, unpacking! So very much left to do! At least i have the essentials sorted! Didn't have mobile reception, or internet, or a working tv for 4 days, felt like my right arm had been cut off!
Hope everyone is well! Hope to be back again, soon!

NettieSpaghetti · 14/06/2011 07:59

I did post yesterday, but I think my connection is lurking in the naughty corner too!

done
woke up at 6.30 [grr] ds2 - he has now retired to bed with stomach pains??
made therapist's appt for dd - took courage and made after school appt for next week rather than wrestling with getting her back to school like last time

Ah so that's where Ds1's wet muddy clothes are! All in his school knapsack Confused, so at the last minute we had to find a new schoolbag for his homework. He's returned in excellent spirits from zip wires and hiking Grin at PGL.

Yesterday we did, singing x 1, ballet x 1 and Football x 1. No Scouts or Cubs- what a difference! Nice civilized pasta bake supper and tidied my bedroom last night too, and hung up all the clothes.

todo
kitchen again sink dishes dw breakfast [sigh]
deal with ds2
wash ds1 clothes
veg box/meal plan
tackle hall again which has yesterday's clearout in it still Blush

nettie glad the induction went well
SC sorry you are still feeling so ill, thank goodness cleaning lady came to office yesterday
missj I'm sure dh is looking forward to your list Wink Hope new house is great!

swanriver · 14/06/2011 09:16

Oh dear, my heart is just sinking looking at all this eternal muddle. Will try an ipod pickmeup as coffee is just making me nauseous Hmm And it is such a beautiful day, perhaps I should just sort out the shed instead Grin then at least I'd be outside.
First I must make the beds though. Except ds2 has wet his Hmm. Kind dh has already stripped it - more washing [sigh]

LadyInPink · 14/06/2011 10:06

Have been leaving DD's pigsty of a bedroom for her to tidy and clean as she promised to keep it so but one must do what the FLY lady says

I always clean the outside of the bowl (and all pipework) when i clean the loo's so mine are still shining clean but the floor needs a mop so will do that and the tops of the cupboards.

Glad you bought the CD Bartlet. You will be humming the songs forever now

Well done on the house move missJ Smile

pushmepullyou · 14/06/2011 10:48

morning all Smile

Didn't manage much yesterday beyond routines, but have managed a bit of living room hot-spotting this morning, and cleaned out my handbag, both of which I'm quite pleased about! The clutter has started to creep back in in the last couple of months and it's definitely time I ot back in to chucking it.

My bathroom definitely needs a bir of attention, but the boy is asleep upstairs and there's no way I'm risking waking a sleeping baby in order to clean the loo!

Stillchuckingit · 14/06/2011 12:38

Hello everyone

Spent the morning lying flat - dozing on and off. Every time I do anything (tried to clean out bath this morning) my heart starts beating very rapidly and I feel dizzy. Most disconcerting. Thinking of ringing doc again. Heigh ho.

Welcome back MissJulie respect - you have done marvellously well to move house and look after a baby - all without the help of your dh. Glad the move went OK and the most stressful bit is over.

Nettie great that your ds loved his school, take it steady, you sound incredibly busy

Huge waves to Scatty

Swan [Hands over special pass] Methinks you should perhaps be resting up a little Wink Smile

Linzer you sound as if you have your hands full too

Pink Good luck with your dd's bedroom. How old is she? Do you impose sanctions? [I need to know for later on!!]

Hey Pushme Well done. You sound as though you are getting back on top of things...

Wonder if Ellie ever returned from the Take That concert? Perhaps she is still there in her hotel room listening to the concert CD and drinking the contents of the mini-bar Grin HOPE SO!!! Grin

And Nicknacks how is your master plan going?

BartletForAmerica · 14/06/2011 13:15

Stillchuckingit, please get in touch with the doctor! I don't know if you've seen them already but that doesn't sound right at all.

Well today has not been as successful. Here is the plan:

Get dressed done
Bedrooms done
Bathroom done
Laundry done (is it bad to hang out laundry the night before so it dries by the time I get round to it in the morning?)
Dinner
Shine sink
Finish Home Blessing
Zone cleaning
Kelly's Mission

CindersofGrottyMansion · 14/06/2011 13:45

Have baked cookie
been to hairdressers
cleaned lots...Confused

it still looks the same

except we now have an empty sitting room and a playroom

that went wrong somewhere

and ds is out with dh
playing mini vet

on a course..Smile

ps Stillchuckingit Hope you feel a little better,

swanriver · 14/06/2011 14:05

SC definitely ring dr and say your symptoms are worse than they are, just in case. That doesn't sound right at all. Don't be brave.

done
ds2 back to school
cleaned out both sheds, and got ds to put wood in the woodpile shed
there is light at end of tunnel (shed is a form of tunnel in our case, which you can't get from front to back due to the piles of ***, but have made some progress. Hopefully will be able to get recycling through tradesman entrance tomorrow Grin

swanriver · 14/06/2011 14:06

still haven't meal planned though, better rush out now and buy some ingredients or tonight will be more auflauf or however it's spelt?

CindersofGrottyMansion · 14/06/2011 14:29

my meal plans always look the same ...Confused

and I just was thinking that pesky dog was being very quiet

and then have spotted her lead is gone

Confused I guess dd has her ..
Stillchuckingit · 14/06/2011 14:30

Thank you all. Have rung doctor who put me on to cardiologist. Spoke to her briefly and she sort of put my mind at rest. (Apparently pills take at least three weeks to work.) Seeing her on Friday. Still feeling a bit jittery but I freely admit to being a bit of a worry-wart!!

Cinders well, your decluttering, does, um, seem to have been very, er ... thorough Grin

Swan well done on the shed clearance!! Will the auflauf be braised or steamed??!! Glad to hear that ds2 is feeling sufficiently recovered to return to school.

Bartlet Dunno about the laundry. I always bring mine in overnight - but thinking about it - I don't really know why!! Morning dew?? The air can't be any dirtier at night-time can it?? Habit inherited from my ma I reckon, who, incidentally, still deals with the laundry as if modern heating or tumble driers or steam irons had never been invented (seemingly endless number of stages of folding and airing and folding again) Confused Drives me nuts whenever I visit!!

OP posts:
CindersofGrottyMansion · 14/06/2011 14:40

yes Im a tad de cluttering mad

Smile
LinzerTorte · 14/06/2011 15:28

Cinders Please come over and help me declutter. I am being driven mad by all the clutter here!

SC Glad the cardiologist has been able to put your mind at rest a little. FWIW my mum has had similar problems recently (heart palpitations and dizziness - she has high blood pressure) and has been put onto stronger medication to help bring her blood pressure down. She's now feeling much better; I hope it doesn't take much longer for your pills to start having an effect too.

swan Auflauf can cover a multitude of sins. Wink

Bartlet I always bring my laundry in overnight too as it seems to get a little damp otherwise, but if yours dries OK I don't see anything wrong with it.

The DC are playing together unusually nicely - or at least are being unusually quiet - so I should make the most of it and starting doing something. Where to start, though? Perhaps with the ironing.

ColdHeartedBitch · 14/06/2011 15:58

Finally got some sleep
ds in trouble at school again

Ellie warned us that after her concert she would be stupid busy with work commitments but would stick her head in when she could. So i guess stupid busy is extra stupidly busy for her this year.

BlueEyeshadow · 14/06/2011 16:15

Ah Auflauf - one of the great untranslatables!

Have done an afternoon's work, and also the bathroom mission. Better go and relieve lovely babysitter. :)

Waves. Will catch up properly later.

CindersofGrottyMansion · 14/06/2011 17:53

is Auflauf

not a baked dingbums

Confused

settles down in naugthy corner

maybe be more comfy that the empy cavenous masive sitting room..

Stillchuckingit · 14/06/2011 21:07

Hope it was tasty anyway ...

[Serves mini-baked puddings to those in naughty corner]

Sounds as though you are on top of things Blue

Glad you finally got some sleep CHB and thanks for reminder re Elliepac [of course - stupid of me - had forgotten this is her busiest time at work]

Thanks again for medical reassurance Linzer!

Um, what, pray, are you going to use aforesaid cavernous room for Cinders? Ball-room dancing? One of those giant domino tumbling competitions? Thai-chi classes? Or are you just going to scrub the parquet with a muslin-covered toothbrush, cover it in sheets and close it for a while à la Petworth House?

Going to post steps now and try and get an early night - apologies if lots of you post later on and I miss all the action!

Tomorrow's step, no.15 for Wednesday 15th June, is about making your bed every day here Fair enough, but being a fresh air freak I personally like to throw open all the windows and air the room and our beds for a while before making them.

This week, we are in Zone 3, the bathroom plus one other room.

Your mission for tomorrow will appear here once the Flylady site updates itself. It's sorting medicines in the bathroom and tossing socks in the dcs' rooms.

For more detail (sneak peak) look here

I haven't been directing you towards reminders of late but here they are if you are interested

Wednesday is anti-procrastination day when we are all supposedly full of vim and vigour ...
