June know it's the fledgling flyers?

A warm welcome to the June Fledgling Flyers' thread.

If the state of your house is getting you down, this is the thread where we follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style Wink) with lots of chat and support along the way and where lace-up shoes are definitely optional.

A huge thank you to Linzer for keeping us all on track so splendidly during May and thank you to DroitwichMummy for the thread title.

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions

If you are feeling overwhelmed by clutter and mess, you can make a difference, one step at a time.

For more information, have a look here. You don't need to sign up to Flylady e-mails (we advise you not to do so in fact - you will be overwhelmed - all the information you need can be gleaned from this thread).

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Drags self out of naughty corner to write a shopping list and take parcels downstairs to post tomorrow. Yawn.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/06/2011 22:23

Love Squash and a Squeeze here too, we've got a CD of the song so we all sing our way through the book together.

SC - no baking here, but I did make pancakes tonight.

Lady - non stop rain here too, I was supposed to be playing tennis this afternoon but no go. I have just finished my ironing.

Swan - have you seen this thread Do you want to be educated about ASD very insightful and heartwarming thread. I have ordered the Aspergers book today.

Have had a fairly lazy day, the DCs went to stay with their GPs overnight, so we both got a lie in this morning. I got up at 9 and watched 4 episodes of Corrie uninterrupted with a pile of toast and a cuppa, plus MN on the Ipad, bliss. Fetched the DCs back this afternoon, they had had a lovely time. DH has had his arse glued to the sofa since about 5 o'clock watching the interminably long Grand Prix, so I have put the DCs to bed and done my evenig routine followed by an hour of ironing upstairs while watching Case Histories. Just need to sort DD's dinner money, then it's off to bed. Night all

ColdHeartedBitch · 12/06/2011 22:29

LadyInPink · 13/06/2011 08:53

We have a CD too WKWTTG, it came with a piano book of music so DH could play for DD when she was little - she still loves it. We love the Gruffulo song too but it's not as catchy as the Squash and a squeeze song though.

Still raining here so no washing today. My airing racks are chocker with airing ironed clothes so can't dry indoors and DH has tutorials so can't use dryer - oh well Smile

Need to do the food shop
Buy Fathers Day present for my dad & something for DH
Take library books back
Hoover out car - it's disgraceful and won't wait any longer
Office work

Will try and take a leaf out of netties book and check smoke alarms - great reminder thanks Smile

Toad in the hole worked better, thanks ladies for the Delia tips; will try again this week.

Stillchuckingit · 13/06/2011 09:53

[delivers caffeinated to naughty corner then see Whoknows has got there ahead of me!! Smile]

It's certainly home bleurrgh day isn't it?? Grey and overcast here...

As thread leader I feel I have a certain responsibility to ring a large school bell, blow a gym mistress whistle and encourage you all to don aertex shirts, navy blue skorts, and do some vigorous calisthenics to get you all in to Flying mode....but having used up my limited energy resources chasing dd in to a corner with a large net and "persuading" her to have a bath (she's going through a "I don't like getting wet phase") ...I think I may just haul in a couple of bean bags and join you in the naughty corner instead...

Not helped by the fact that our lovely office cleaner actually forgot it was a public holiday and telephoned us at 6.15am because she couldn't get in to the office, so dh had a bit of a rude awakening. She insisted on doing the cleaning which means we don't have to do it which is actually quite a relief so I think a small gift/bonus is in order ...

[Throws extra fleece over Pushme and CHB if she's back from training]

Whoknows Glad to hear you had a peaceful Sunday!!! [My dh's rear was glued to the sofa watching the interminably long Grand Prix with its interminably long delayed start as well!]

Nettie and Pink you are putting us all to shame!

Cinders good to hear your dh is having a rare day off - hope you all enjoy it

Lovely friend has invited dd over to play again - just have to ensure she does her homework first and check ears, teeth, hooves and pony tail Grin are all in order first ...

ColdHeartedBitch · 13/06/2011 10:32

Yep back from training just. thanks for the blanket SC

BartletForAmerica · 13/06/2011 11:34

Can I join in? I've been lurking around Mumsnet for a while and have admired from afar!

My list for today:
Exercise (Day 3 of 30 Day Shred) done
Get dressed to shoes done
Bedrooms done
Bathrooms done
Laundry done
Dinner (bean and veg chilli for tonight currently defrosting) done
Shine sink
Weekly Home Blessing
Zone (I'm focusing on decluttering the study this week)
Mission

WKWTTG and LadyInPink, thanks for the heads up about the CD. My DS really enjoys the Gruffalo story (or rather we enjoy reading it to him!) so we'll need to get that.

Stillchuckingit · 13/06/2011 11:51

A warm welcome to the thread Bartlett (I am also a fan of WW!)

Sounds as if you have made a great start already.

Have you flown before? Don't hesitate to ask if you are in need of any info. Don't (whatever you do!) join the Big Tent on the Flylady site. Don't be put off by all our chatter Grin

Good luck with the shred!

[puts another blanket over CHB]

swanriver · 13/06/2011 13:08

done
kitchen tidied and mopped
playroom hoovered
hall mopped
two loads of laundry washed and hanging to dry

Tackled ds1 room's this morning too, hoovered behind the bed and bookcase
dusted and decluttered degalore. Just the insurmountable problem of DH's enormous wardrobe in there, so there's never enough room for the rest of the furniture.

notdone
other bedrooms, other than throw clothes on bed and stuff into cupboards, unsorted
master bedroom
master loo/basin
meals??
shopping???
library
anything else I like doing AARGH
ironing (given up on that again)
various phonecalls/online orders

Grandprixfans we had another appalling meltdown from ds2 over the race at turn off time, as he was still GLUED to screen at 7.30 (had already watched it for 2 and half hoursShock He screamed till 9.00 Sad It retrospect it was obvious we should have started the watching a bit later, so he could watch it till the rain stopped play. Thank you for that thread Whoknows I felt very humbled by that lady's experiences, Ds2 is much much easier, even when he is hard work.

Think I will go into library now, do an hour and come back to finish house (ha ha, ) before DS1 comes back from PGL. Poor child he will be in need of some tlc and r & r.

swanriver · 13/06/2011 14:38

I've managed another song list onto Ipod! ridiculously pleased with myself, listening to Queen as I tinternet... now to work out the shuffling bit..

ColdHeartedBitch · 13/06/2011 14:39

First chain saws

then eldery lady who fell who i was called to help lift and left to look after

Its now time to get up for school run.

:(

When am i allowed some sleep? Ds was up 8 times last night and i only got 2hrs sleep in the end. Its no wonder i can't shift the bastard headache.

:(

LadyInPink · 13/06/2011 14:40

Food shop
Buy Fathers Day present for my dad & DH
Take library books back
Hoover out car
Office work
Test smoke alarms

All the above done and now the sun has come out and is laughing at me for not doing any washing - Grrr!

Need to dust the office and sew on a Rainbow badge onto DD Rainbow T-shirt (hate that job)
Have to pick up DD friend and take them both to drama after school so going to do a quick and easy dinner - tuna pasta bake.

Bartlet I have just been on ebay and seen you can buy "The Gruffulo song and other songs" for as little as 99p plus postage! it's definitely worth a buy Smile

LadyInPink · 13/06/2011 14:42

Sad oh no, poor CHB Sad what a dreadful day - can anyone else collect your DS and have him for a bit while you have a good sleep?

ColdHeartedBitch · 13/06/2011 14:59

Not as i now have stuff that has to be done no option. Have hit the caffine to function but thus wont sleep later it is a vicious cycle.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/06/2011 15:38

CBA day here, hmmm.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/06/2011 21:34

Where is everyone tonight?

Naughty corner for me too, really haven't done much today, just a bit of tidying and paperwork really. Also school gardening club, DD's friend round for tea, Beavers run and I've been out for a run tonight.

I am so pleased with the gardening club, we have got masses of stuff growing, have harvested and sold our second lot of radishes and lettuce, just a bit nervous about how much effort it is going to be keeping it all going over the summer. I also think we might end up with with a glut of stuff needing harvesting then so the children will miss out on that. However all good so far and we are entering the local town in bloom competition with it.

Welcome on board Bartlet - how are you finding the Shred?

BlueEyeshadow · 13/06/2011 21:42

Hope things improve CHB.

Got fed up with playing guessing games with the weather and shoved the washing in the tumble drier - it was then warm and sunny all afternoon. Grr indeed Lady!

Bit of a weird day today what with one thing and another. Got a reasonable amount done though and am adding a couple of things to tonight's list in the hope that tomorrow morning will be less stressful than usual Tuesdays. Another parcel to pack up too.

Waves to all - hi, Bartlet.

Stillchuckingit · 13/06/2011 22:34

It is quiet on here atm isn't it?

[Distributes Brew and Biscuit to naughty corner dwellers

CHB hope you feel better/catch up on some proper sleep soon

It sounds like you have accomplished loads today Whoknows and congrats on your garden club - that is really impressive

Blue Pink and Swan well done for flying high today

I'm still feeling rough so keeping it short tonight if no-one minds. Waves madly to everyone else though!!

Tomorrow's step, no.14 for Monday 14th June, is one to ignore imo but it's

here anyway. Reading Flylady indoctrination essays.

This week, we are in Zone 3, the bathroom plus one other room.

Your mission for tomorrow will appear here once the Flylady site updates itself. Fat Fairy seems to be giving dc tasks as well this week.

However, for a sneak peak ahead look here

Tuesday is a "free day" so just do your usual routines, steps and declutter for 15 mins in current zone.
