carrying on from where we left off!!

Today's a matter of damage limitation rather than anything Flylady has in mind. Had to go to the ILs Sunday night for childcare reasons, my parents due this evening - I'm off to work in an hour and not back till midnight - parents' duvet cover in the washing machine (laundry mushroomed in the week and I didn't catch up - thought I had Sunday then DH announced his friend had a birthday lunch). Argh!

How's the study Carrots? Are our newbies still around? Where's Sharon? And how do you keep slugs off strawberries?

Carrotsandcelery · 17/05/2011 11:06

Good luck Long - are your parents the hands on type or the be waited on type? I have also had a laundry crisis due to drying problems but have just about got it sorted as it turned cold so I could put a radiator on! Now I have an ironing crisis instead. It is so much better when I keep up with my flylady and keep on top of it all.

We have just had some bad news after a doctors appointment with my ds. I have returned him to school and came home for a good bawl, only to find the man who does the pruning in the garden. So now I have to try to hold it all together and find a smile.

I am trying to decide whether to throw myself into the housework, in a therapeutic manner, or to sit here on the laptop frightening the pants off myself googling what the doc was talking about.

I think the ironing and some rubbish on tv might be the safer option for now.

Tuesday's mission isn't on the website yet but I haven't done yesterday's yet so I may also put on some very loud music so that I can't think and then do that.

I don't know where everyone else has gone - come back everyone - all housework sins will be forgiven Wink

Longtalljosie · 17/05/2011 11:58

Oh love - have PMed you x

Carrotsandcelery · 17/05/2011 18:57

Evening all!

I have calmed down somewhat after doing an almighty pile of ironing and eating three quarters of a big bag of Dorritos and making myself feel sick. Blush

I still have more ironing to do though. Hmm I have left all of dh's in a pile for him to do too. I am not sure where it is all coming from.

Dosey · 18/05/2011 18:48

hi everybody, I havent post this week yet, as you can tell since the internet stuff at work, I am being well behaved. I just sneak in for a sneaky peak and pop back out. I am still waiting to see if I am in trouble or not.

Carrots I hope your ds is ok, sending you hugs xxxx .

I have decided this week miss out the bathroom zone and concentrate of dds bedroom. So far I have sorted out clothes for the charity shop, books for the charity shop and tonight I am going to try and match all their pjs up. They love to mix and match them and each others so their drawer is a tip. Also hoping to get a little of the garden done tonight too.

Hope everybody is well xxx

Carrotsandcelery · 18/05/2011 20:59

Hi Dosey - good to know you are still with us. I can't believe they still haven't sorted out that internet mess at your work yet. I am sorry you still have it lurking.

Thanks for the hugs. Ds has been diagnosed with mental health problems after a particularly nasty and sustained bullying situation. He is only 6! I am sickened just thinking about it. He should get help soon though so fingers crossed.

I have only done washing and cooking today. I won't get much done over the next couple of days either as I have lots of baking to do for a couple of fundraisers I am involved in.

We are having a family gathering at mine on Sunday though so I will have to keep the basics ticking over. I have warned dh that I will need his help on Sunday morning to tackle the last minute cleaning.

Long how did you get on getting sorted for your Mum coming? I hope you enjoy her stay.

Longtalljosie · 19/05/2011 08:26

More or less sorted - ran out of time to make up the bed but DH did it when he came home from work so got there in the end.

This week's flying isn't really happening for me but never mind (harder with guests). I'll pick up again next week..

Dosey · 20/05/2011 17:33

hi everybody, just checking in, managed to get my home blessed over two days, half an hour yesterday and half an hour today. DDs are out for tea so I am just going to do fifteen minutes in their room when I get off from mumsnet. I was just about to go into the garden but its started raining.

Hope we are all ok xx

Longtalljosie · 20/05/2011 18:18

Have been out all day seeing a friend and her new scrunchy baby! So I cooked her lunch and then cleaned her kitchen instead

Dosey · 21/05/2011 21:58

Long I bet you friend was made up x

Well even though its saturday I waited until dds were asleep, put my timer of for 15 minutes and went into their bedroom and sorted out a pile of drawings and crafty projects. I put lots on their wall and the other stuff in the bin a safe place. They will be chuffed to bits when they wake up and see their walls. I must say this weeks 15 minutes everyday in their room has really made a big difference. Lets hope it stays that wayxxx

Carrotsandcelery · 22/05/2011 14:48

Long you are a top mate - that is just exactly what you need when you have just had a baby. I am Envy of the new baby though.

I have paid for my slipped flylady ways with a 4 hour cleaning session this morning to get the house fit to celebrate my birthday this afternoon.

My birthday was during the week but with all that was going on with ds I wasn't really in the mood for it, or cleaning. Then I was full immersed in baking for various charity events at the end of the week and yesterday. I have baked for four days Shock

Anyway, the house is gleaming now, another cake has been baked (raspberry and almond - I will save you all a slice Grin ) and I am sitting down for a break before the onslaught.

I definitely need to get back into my full flylady routine because if I had been on top of things it would just have been a one hour house blessing that was needed.

I have another party here on Thursday night so that is motivation to keep things ticking over this week.

How is everyone else doing?

Longtalljosie · 22/05/2011 17:33

Happy birthday Carrots! Hope you're having a lovely day!

I have to work out some way of making Flying work for me and my routine. I work Monday and Tuesday 2-midnight, soon to be also Weds late as well. Monday morning I can (and do) do my routines - pulling back from the weekend. I think for Tues and eventually Weds I need to work out a mini-routine, because I wake up tired and have to get ready for work...

It's about making it fit into your life, isn't it? Confused

bessie26 · 22/05/2011 18:02

Happy Birthday Carrots!! Grin

I think the flying defn has to fit in with your life. When I was at work I found i wasn't able to do everything on a work day, so made different routines for the days I was/wasn't at work, am currently re-jigging them for days I do/don't have DD1! I now (attempt to) do my home blessing on a Tuesday as DD1 is at her GPs which leaves more time for playing on a Monday Grin

Hope you are all well, DD2 is still keeping me busy so it's going to be a while yet before I do any missions! (although I did clean the bathroom last week!)

Carrotsandcelery · 22/05/2011 19:47

Thanks for the birthday wishes - it was a few days ago but I just didn't feel it then. It is amazing what a bit of time with family can do for the spirits though, especially time with my youngest niece who said "Auntie" for the first time today - made my day Grin

The house has survived remarkably well despite the invasion so I am going to try hard to do my routines this week and to keep on top of it.

I think making it work with your own weekly routine is essential - there are days when you have time for more and days you are doing well to shine the sink - we will stick to it better if we accept that and work with it.

Longtalljosie · 22/05/2011 21:32

Very true. Master bedroom again this week, easier than some others...

Carrotsandcelery · 22/05/2011 21:45

I like the Master bedroom week Grin although I do, for the first time, have a few things lurking under the bed and I do need to retidy the bottom of my wardrobe. I refuse to touch dh's growing pile of rubbish stuff on the floor and bedside table on his side of the bed though. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 23/05/2011 10:11

Morning all - great day for a bit of flying - today's mission is here One we have probably all done before.

Long maybe approach this with caution - no sore back please!

Longtalljosie · 23/05/2011 10:18

Hmm, good point Carrots. I might content myself with a bit of shoe-sorting...

Carrotsandcelery · 23/05/2011 10:50

Under the bed done and it led on to the bottom of the wardrobe. I bought some plastic shoe boxes in Tesco (which I had shoved under the bed unused)but now all my birkies are now safely stored in a little tower. I might invest in some more as they are easier to rummage through.

I am now on the ironing - yet again - infront of The Wright Stuff Grin

Dosey · 23/05/2011 21:28

hi everybody, and happy belated birthday carrots, you are one very busy lady!!!

Monday is always a good day and I start the week well. I love watching Coronation Street so on a Monday I do the ironing while I watch the first episode at half seven. Then at 8pm I do my 15 minute daily mission and 15 minutes of gardening and then at 8.30 I sit with a cuppa and watch the next corro!!!!

So I have cleaned under the bed but it wasnt too bad under there. I do need to sort out some drawers this week too. The master bedroom zone will keep me busy

Longtalljosie · 24/05/2011 09:19

Sorting through the sock drawer today (sorry am on iPhone perhaps someone else will link?). Done already! It was annoying me the other week. Which is as well as today is going to be a busy day at work

Carrotsandcelery · 24/05/2011 18:45

Sock drawer is still good from the last time here so that is one job I can skip which is just as well as I have been out all day and will be doing well to do basic routines today.

Longtalljosie · 25/05/2011 09:24

Morning girls!

Dead easy, done in seconds

Carrotsandcelery · 25/05/2011 12:11

Ooh! I can do this one no bother. Smile

Longtalljosie · 26/05/2011 09:16

Even easier...

I might make it a bit more challenging by having a look at the drawer
