Hi chaps, just checking in. Have increased my work hours and am trying to work out a new routine for flying. Have to go to work now (late shift) but will shine sink before I go to show willing xxx

My dh fires his socks at the basket in our utility room (with sound effects similar to those used by my 6 year old ds) but ignores the fact they have landed down the back, or in the clean laundry basket, or stuck on something hanging on the pulley!

Given that, I don't suppose dd has a lot of hope! Grin

bessie26 · 28/06/2011 10:14

Surely she will be able to put the dirty clothes in a basket in her room? Mind you, we have a laundry basket in our bedroom & DH still struggles to get his socks in there Hmm

It is pouring with rain here today and 10 degrees!

I bought dd a laundry basket of sorts today to see if that would motivate her. I have resisted fiercely but it is always her excuse so I am calling her bluff!

Sounds like a good plan carrots! I'm training DD1 (2.8) to help with the laundry too, she can load/unload the machine & pair socks... unless she has a particularly interesting sticker, or sees a cat - then I have to do it by myself!

Do your DCs have laundry bins in their own rooms or do they have to take it to another room? Wondered if that would require too much effort?!

It's been absolutely roasting here today, must go water the veg plot while DH makes dinner Grin

I have spent a bit of time today teaching dd how to sort laundry and put on a load of washing. It was a slightly painful experience as she asked me about practically every item but hopefully it is short term pain for long term gain Grin

In my defense this has come about after discovering what would amount to a whole load of washing hidden in her bedroom, despite being given a dirty clothes in the basket amnesty last Monday. Angry

I hoped that having to do the laundry herself might get the point across a little more effectively than shouting. Fingers crossed!

Hi carrots glad to hear you are still flying! DD2 is now only waking up once or twice in the night so I'm getting some nice sleep at night, but her naps are only 45 mins long so I'm using my timer a lot to get stuff done! I'm still doing my own thing though rather than doing the zones & missions. Life is one constant stream of laundry atm!

I know exactly what you mean about having too much stuff, even after 6 months if fly lady decluttering DH & I still have too much stuff & DD's toys are still trying to take over the lounge! I'm trying to box some of the "baby" ones up in the loft for a while, but as soon as I put some to one side, she starts playing with them again! And of course, it's only a temp solution as they will need to come back down for DD2 to play with soon!

I need to get a carpenter round to see if we can get some cupboards built in for storage (we have a 1930's house, so chimney breasts etc to work around). Also, remember DH decorated the dining room? Well we're thinking about having it as a playroom instead (we like eating in the kitchen) if only we would hurry up and win the lottery we could build an extension! But I guess we would just clutter that up with stuff again!

Had better get back to sleep now!

Hi there bessie I just found the thread in my watched threads list. I thought I had lost you all. It is like the Marie Celeste here. Is everyone sunbathing?

We have had visitors this weekend so the house was fairly nice on Friday and is now trashed. I have ignored that though and spent the time since my guests left helping my dd deep clean her bedroom.

She has too much stuff and I don't really know how to manage it.

We went through the clothes and removed everything that was too small. We also moved all the winter stuff out of the way for now and put the school stuff to the most unreachable end of her wardrobe as school breaks up here on Friday.

I now have a mountain of washing to do but I am going to get dd to do the majority of the ironing as this is the only way it gets through to her not to shove her clothes on the floor when they are not even worn.

She was also ruthless and chucked away a lot of miscellaneous stuff that she never ever used and was in such a mess she never could have found even if she had wanted it.

I wish modern houses were built with better storage. Where are we supposed to store half a toy shop full of Sylvannian and Playmobil? She still loves it and plays with it but her tiny little box bedroom just doesn't lend itself to having all these things and it still looking nice and feeling calm.

Is it just me or do the rest of you have this problem too?

Hello everyone!

DD2s naps have been a bit wonky the last couple of weeks so I've been a bit slack - but we've got both sets of GP coming round on Sunday for a Father's day BBQ so thought I'd better do something! Downstairs vacuumed and kitchen/utility floors mopped today. (long - I always try to mop the floor on a wed as DD1 doesn't eat at home until fri so it does stay clean for a day or two!)

Amazingly the place doesn't look too bad now, just need to clear the kitchen worktops as they have been accumulating stuff.

I have become VERY organised with my laundry & have a specified load every day of the week

Carrots - I hope your DS is feeling a bit better?

Must go... DD2 has just made me some more laundry!

Hello everyone!

I am back on ironing again today. I have been at it on and off for ages.

I have also been hoovering, decluttering the kitchen and cleaning the utility room up a bit. Things look a lot more under control than they did this morning I have to admit.

I did a ridiculous pile on Thursday. There's a big pile of washing which I ought to start putting in but I'm avoiding it so it doesn't turn into ironing, which is ridiculous Grin

Yesterday I scrubbed the floor in the utility and the downstairs loo and then decided I needed a break so stopped. Need to do the kitchen today. Glad I didn't yesterday as DD threw her dinner everywhere last night so it would have been a waste of effort!

Evening all!

I have more or less kept up with my routines this week but haven't done any missions. I also haven't done my house blessing this week so things are a bit dusty Blush

How is the ironing going Long? I did mine on Monday but haven't done any since so there is quite a pile here too.

I can't see how most of it will be done before Monday either unless it pours with rain.

I like the fun thing to do after tea Dosey - I have been following the playing with the kids more thread and have been really enjoying it.

hi everybody, we have been away so my routines have gone out of the window. Anyway a new week and a new start. I have done my daily routines, I checked flylday for todays mission but it seems be only showing Tuesday. I am taking that Flylady has given us a day off!!!! I have done 15 minutes in the garden and also as part of finding fun things to do after tea, dds watered the garden. All good for a Monday. I am going to try very hard to keep up for the rest of the week xx

Morning all!

I did my house blessing yesterday in my vest and pj bottoms - it was roasting.

Then we partied last night and I have a slightly sore head today Grin

It is boiling again today so I am just doing the basics - giving myself a rest before another busy weekend.

Hi Carrots. Rather like yesterday's mission, I was chastened with how much dust was there, out of plain sight. Still, gone now.

I had a complete "duh" moment as well. I was using the dustbuster and thinking "this doesn't work like it used to, perhaps it's on the way out". And then realised I had never cleaned the filter. Doofus.

Needless to say, it's working just fine now... Blush

Morning all.

Today's mission is here

I have just sort of done yesterday's mission. I have cleaned four of the more smeary looking windows in the kitchen.

The entrance hallway doesn't look too bad so it shouldn't take much perking up.

I have also been doing laundry, dishes, decluttering the kitchen table etc as I potter about waiting for things to bake in the oven for a fundraiser. Baking is not going well though so I may have to start again tonight. Pah!

Longtalljosie · 31/05/2011 15:02

Ah well that sounds good. I cannot be arsed with the ironing today so have decided it's officially Tomorrow's Problem.

Today's mission - I'll do it in a second... as soon as I move from the sofa - I'm on annual leave today, that's my excuse!

I haven't even done the breakfast dishes yet today and I am shooting out for pick up in five minutes! I have been a lovely riverside walk with the dog though Grin

Morning! Tuesday's mission isn't up yet so I'm going to catch up with the rest of you and do living room hot spots. I have swept and mopped the kitchen floor this morning because I have a new mop

Report
Carrotsandcelery · 30/05/2011 14:16

Hot spot extinguished here. I got into doing the cupboard that holds all the letters, drawing paper, pens, pencils etc in the kitchen so it took me waaaay longer than 15 mins but was very satisfying. I went through all the pens and chucked the ones that no longer work etc so it should be a bit more user friendly for the dcs.

I also removed honestly at least a hundred colouring pencils. I have put them in a bag for the school. I am sure they breed in there as I did the same last year. Where do all the colouring pencils come from? I can remember having one set of felt pens and one of colouring pencils when I was wee and really treasuring them. [old emoticon]

Also, does everyone else feel really guilty recycling all their dcs art work? My ds is an enthusiastic drawer and can get through more than one drawing pad in a week. He is quite good so I used to be tempted to keep his pictures but there are just so many of them I end up putting whole drawing pads in the recycling or selecting one picture and chucking the rest of the pad in the recycling. It makes me feel really mean but we would be like one of those houses you see on tv where there is just one wee path through the shoulder high debris if I didn't! Shock

Morning all! This is today's mission It is not a horrid one and probably one we all need to do.

I have been pottering around doing dishes, laundry and picking up weekend debris really. I am leaving the full blessing for Thursday when we attempt our party again. The plan is to keep on top of the general mess and then the blessing should be all that is needed.

Despite all the washing last week the dcs still struggled to find clean uniforms this morning. I need to work in a routine that makes sure they have clean stuff on a Monday morning. I tend to relax the housekeeping at the weekend.

What has everyone been up to?
