I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Carrots, that's all I've done... On my morning routine I so far have 'get dressed' and get DS dressed obviously and on my evening routine I have 'shine sink' . That's it, I'm guessing we add as we go along, I think that's the point of babysteps. :)

Carrotsandcelery · 04/01/2011 19:40

Thanks Guacamole - that is what I will do then - just add babysteps as I go along. We are back to school tomorrow though so have to add laying out schoolbags and uniforms.

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 20:15

Evening ladies.
Yeah, re routines, you've got it spot on, for the moment it's shine sink in evening, get dressed to shoes in the morning plus check our reminders (post-its or notepad) and the big tent thing.
When I signed up last time, I received about 10 e-mails a day including testamonials dfrom other flybabies. Tbh, I read very few e-mails because there was just so so much, I want to clean my house, not read all that crap!
I'm not 100% sure what the entire big tent thing is (is new since I was on the flylady list), but that' one I am by-passing. I every now and again look at the ASK FLYLADY tab, can pick up some good tips there (located on the left hand menu bar on the site)

carrots That is one of the up-coming babysteps, laying out tomorrows clothes.

whilst we are on the subject,
babytep 5 another rubbish one that I will not be doing.
This is the step for tomorrow. But If you guys are anything like me, you might be getting a bit pissed off with steps that you're not going to bother to do, so here is
babystep 6
A bit more interesting and actually gives us another task to carry out. Up to you if you do number 6 weds or thurs.

Work was fine. Training day. Kids back tomorrow so no doubt that'll be a shock to the system!

dylsmum1998 · 04/01/2011 20:36

evening all. I am trying to rebuild my routines, before next week so I have written roughly what they were last time I did FLY and am trying to stick to them, alongside doing the babysteps and decluttering. I am going to do as Silverymoon said and skipping to babystep 6 tomorrow. I really need to sort out my bills, have been ignoring them over christmas Blush.

I managed to achieve a lot today, so feeling proud of myself. biggest task was about 2 hours worth of ironing! yeuch at least it is done now, it shouldn't get so big now

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 20:37

dyls OMG, 2 hours!!!!!!!! wow!

I haven't shined my sink yet. There is aload of washing up drip-drying on the draining board, I am itting in my pj's with a bottle glass of wine, and not sure I can be arsed Blush
Someone give me a virtual kick up the back-side

bessie26 · 04/01/2011 21:03

ah... the "big tent" seems to just be the website the FLYlady uses to run her mailing list. So nothing for us to worry about Smile

I'll also be ignoring babytep 5 - but at least I now know why she is the FLYlady!

so my morning tasks are:

  • Get Dressed
  • swish bathroom sink (need to train DH to not leave it covered in shaving foam)

and my evening ones are:

  • look at my "home routines" app to see what else I'm supposed to do
  • 2min tidyup in hotspot - earlier today I started to sort out the huge pile of post by the front door, so I think those 2mins will be kept keeping that under control!
  • shine kitchen sink
  • 2 hours of ironing! - I only ever iron work shirts, and now they no longer fit over my expanding bump, I'm hoping to not have to do anymore for a while! Grin
Carrotsandcelery · 04/01/2011 21:16

What is swishing? I am getting very Confused
I used to have a brain but it seems to have vacated.

bessie26 · 04/01/2011 21:17

I think it's just "clean"!

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 21:25

swish and swipe

It's step 24, so we have a while before we have to think about it

Carrotsandcelery · 04/01/2011 21:26

[relieved emoticon]

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 21:27

In the morning when I shower, I wipe the tiles down quickly with my body puff, then I quickly wipe the bath, then when I'm brushing my teeth, I wipe the sink quickly and I have anti-bac wipes I use for the bog.
The cloth lives tucked behind the pipe running down from the sink and I change it every saturday in my weekly home blessing session

Carrotsandcelery · 04/01/2011 21:28

I am making a point of not reading the steps ahead as I am scared it will put me off - plus a tiny bit of intrigue has to help the motivation.
I am noticing the rest of the family being more likely to put things in the dishwasher when the sink is clean, and more likely to keep the surrounding worktops clean. It is a small victory but a victory nonetheless Grin

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 21:30

Absolutely carrots sounds like it's all going well.
I am now admitting the sink has defeated me tonight.
I have to go to bed. Am up at 5am and just haven't got it in me to put all the washing up away and clean the sink Blush Sad

Carrotsandcelery · 04/01/2011 21:31

SilveryMoon is that a swish? It sounds a very quick and effective way of keeping the bathroom civilised on a day to day basis.
I keep babywipes for wiping the toothpaste off the surfaces in the bathroom every day. I could easily anti bac the loo every day too. Could just do it while the dcs brush their teeth really. Hurrah! Not too scary!

Carrotsandcelery · 04/01/2011 21:32

SilveryMoon are you responsible for it all? Can someone else shine the sink tonight for you?

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 21:33

Yes, that's a swish and swipe. Flylady says to swish the toilet with the brush quickly, but i think toilet brushes are foul and we do not have one.

Anyhoo, really got to go to bed.
'night Grin

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2011 21:34

There is no way in hell that dp will do anything........Angry
Not just because he is asleep on the sofa, but because he think a clean dry sink is not necessary.
I do 100% of the housework

ChippingIn · 04/01/2011 21:38

Silvery - have you done your kitchen sink yet?

If not, shift that PJ clad arse and do it - you cannot fail on day 4, waiting for everyone else or not!!

ChippingIn · 04/01/2011 21:40

Silvery - when you have the energy start a thread in relationships about DH - we'll help you reform him!!

SINK NOW!!

SharonGless · 04/01/2011 21:53

Come on Silvery - I am up at 530 too and just about to do mine. 5 mins and we will be done.

dylsmum1998 · 04/01/2011 22:06

I have just sat and (somehow!) managed to write some of my essay am 1/3 of way through it.
Silvery I am off now to shine my sink- you can do it!

Carrots swish and swipe is fab for keeping on top of the bathrooom, I do the tiles etc whilst brushing my teeth, and the toilet while dd brushes hers Smile

right must shine the sink, my bed is calling

CointreauVersial · 04/01/2011 22:13

I like the Hotspot thing - I definitely have one burning away on my dining room table - all the post, bits of homework, gloves, keys and other detritus seems to accumulate constantly! I shall get out my fire extinguisher for two minutes tomorrow.

bessie26 · 04/01/2011 22:39

Ah.. just incase anyone was wondering, I don't clean the sink with the bog brush!

Don't know how you can survive without one, DH can make a bit of a mess in there sometimes! (not enough fibre in his diet according to Gillian McKeith!)

We have a squeegy we use on the shower screen (around the bath) after every shower, I never use it on the tiles though as they never seem to get dirty! (they are matt white rather than gloss)

sparklyjewlz · 05/01/2011 07:28

Morning all. I've just had a look at babystep 5 (thanks for posting link Bessie) and have decided I don't have time for notes...too busy making things sparkly. Wink

Guacamole · 05/01/2011 09:52

I think everyone has given up on notes! I'm trying to decide which hotspot to tackle, I have 3. Chair in bedroom, dining table and on the bed in the spare bedroom.
