I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? bessie one of the dishes I served tonight was Jamie's chicken with white wine stew - made with quorn pieces instead of chicken. It was delicious. Do you have the Jamie Ministry of Food book? I have found a lot of the recipes from it are easily adapted to vegetarians.
I am off to have a look at the link - thank you.

Carrotsandcelery · 11/02/2011 21:58

bessie that blog is an excellent idea. If I do one too then we can share recipes. I had a go there but it didn't work. Any tips?

Carrotsandcelery · 11/02/2011 22:21

I succeeded bessie - Carrots recipes

MMorning
DH birthday tomorrow and we are having people round for a race night so up till all hours cooking curry and chilli. For the first time ever am not panicking about cleaning the house before a party as am on top of everything thanks to flylady and you guys!

However have just realised that one of my friends is veggie so need to do a quick veggie chilli. Any recommendations Carrots and Bessie?

Carrotsandcelery · 12/02/2011 09:44

Veggie Chilli is easy.

Heat some oil in a pan, add chopped onion and a couple of crushed garlic cloves, soften while you chop carrots, celery, pepper, courgettes, mushrooms (whatever veg you have kicking about really) Add ground cumin and chilli powder and ccok for a few more minutes. Then add a can of chopped tomatoes and some tomato puree. Add a can of drained and rinsed kidney beans.

You can add red lentils or Quorn mince if you want a more substantial chilli. Some prefer to boil the lentils separately and then add them, others are quite happy to cook them in the chilli itself.

That is it really.

Carrotsandcelery · 12/02/2011 09:51

Morning everyone.

I got up to a dirty sink today Shock and it was not pleasant.

In my defence dh came home late and I was busy chatting with my mate.
Once my friend left my dd was having a sleepover so we settled them infront of a dvd after their bath and then we put one load on in the dishwasher and had to tidy up the left over chocs Wink and then we felt sick and sleepy. Excuses, excuses I know.
I have to say it is rubbish to get up on a Saturday morning to dirty wine glasses etc Sad so I won't be in a hurry to do it again.

SharonGless · 12/02/2011 10:50

Thank Carrots will let you know how it goes.

Don't fret about the dirty wine glasses - you are allowed a night off! As long as you had a good night thats all that matters

Carrotsandcelery · 12/02/2011 13:28

Wine glasses all washed up now. Doing my wine drinking at another friend's tonight so we can wash up together. Wink
I hope the chilli turns out ok Sharon.
What is a race night?

SharonGless · 12/02/2011 15:28

It's horse racing DVD where you can bet on the horse. Whoever wins most races gets the pot at end of the night. Think its £5 per person to enter. To be honest I will probably be in the back room organising the singstar! We did it last year and had a really good laugh. Just a lot of work to sort it out as I want house to look clean and tidy ;)

Just got in from shops so will let you know how chilli goes down plus am about to make Nigella's chilli dip which is really yummy too

Carrotsandcelery · 12/02/2011 15:57

Sharon we will have to get you to do a recipe blog to share with us too - or a party planning blog.
Race night sounds like a laugh. I am itching to have a go at some sort of sing star. I can't sing for toffee but it looks fun. Dh and dd are decent singers so it would be fun to watch them compete.
I pulled a master stroke this afternoon. I took ds to his activity this pm and did the shop while he was at it as we have to drive to the town for it. I realised as I went to pick him up that I hadn't cleaned the fridge first - so I phoned dh and asked him to do it ready for us coming home! Wink He did it too as he knows that he should have helped get ds ready this morning and that the 7 slices of French bread he served for lunch (made my dd and her friend) weren't going to feed 5 hungry mouths at lunch time and that he doomed me to making more lunch despite having done everything else today Angry
I think he will be glad when I go out tonight! Grin
I bought more click lock tubs in Tesco to continue storing stuff in the cupboards in a more flylady fashion. How sad I am that I find the cupboard all clean and organised so satisfying. Wink
I also bought no chocolate (except the box to take to my friend tonight) no crisps (again except for the posh ones for tonight) no snacks, no soft brown sugar etc as I know what we have in the stocks and that we don't need them! Hurrah! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 13/02/2011 10:19

How did your party go Sharon? I have a washing machine for a stomach and have woken up with my clothes strewn down the hallway Shock so I think I had a good time! Wink

I have no idea how the sink was left last night but I do vaguely remember loading my friend's dishwasher with a more sober friend Confused I hope her dishes are ok!

I am off to have a bubble bath and to try to cleanse my panda eyes a little more effectively than I did last night.

What is everyone planning today? I am hoping to be taken out to eat and to go to sleep in the cinema see Gnomeo and Juliet with dh and the dcs.

Flying will have to wait until I have sobered up and my stomach has calmed down a bit Grin

Curlybrunette · 13/02/2011 13:21

Ha carrots sounds like you had a good night!

I was out at a surprise party last night, in a chinese restaurant. Was a lovely night but I ate waaaayyyyyy too much. Delicious!

I've been super productive this weekend, have organised 3 food cupboards in the kitchen that really needed doing but like you carrots I need more cliplock boxes to keep it tidy and organised.

Dh cleaned the fridge out (unprompted, he's v impressed since I've started flying!) I've swept and mopped the kitchen and after lunch I'm going to sweep and mop the play room and dining room.

I printed out the detailed cleaning sheet to and am going to create a file, I assume the routine will go round and round when all the rooms are finished.

Though ds's have been playing 'dinosaur world' in the living room and the floor is covered in a million dinosaurs so the kitchen looks lovely and the lounge as if a bombs dropped in it! Don't mind with toys though really, not if they're actually playing with the stuff.

x

Hello everyone
Well the veggie chilli went down a treat Carrots! And there was enough left over for me to take to work this week yippee.

Didn't get to bed until 4.30am - oh my god I am too old for this. Was up at 10am tidying up and have had to do a trip to the bottle bank as our recycling bin was overflowing Blush Fab night and really enjoyed it although have felt dodgy most of the day! well worth a blow out and a day off from flying. We were drinking pink fizz (cava mixed with cranberry juice) which was vey yum.

Carrots and Curly sounds like you have both had a good night too Wink Am also vey impressed with your DHs and fridge cleaning. That was a master stroke indeed ringing him to clean before you got back

Carrotsandcelery · 13/02/2011 20:40

Curly I agree, toys that are being played with are absolutely fine - infact lovely to see!
Sharon glad the chilli went ok and you had a good night. I bought the Glee Wii singing game today so we could be very unpopular with the neighbours tomorrow.

Carrotsandcelery · 13/02/2011 20:42

Posted before I was finished there - possibly still a bit tipsy. We were on the pink Cava last night too but didn't know about mixing it with cranberry. That might have slowed us down a touch Hmm
I have done nothing today but had a lovely family day.
Dh is off tomorrow and we are planning a pj day so I should get caught up no bother.
Need an early night tonight though.

bessie26 · 13/02/2011 20:57

wow - aren't we a bunch of dirty stop-outs! I was out with DH for a valentines meal last night & had a LARGE glass of wine with my dinner, which was lush Grin although nothing compared to the rest of you! Envy and was in bed by 11pm so don't feel too bad!

I just checked the detailed cleaning list for the kitchen & the only things I haven't done are

  • clean fridge
  • clean oven (forgot to buy the Oven Pride)
  • wash the inside of the window

DH replaced the stupid wire cage type shelves in our larder cupboard today with proper shelves, so I now have loads more storage & also need to join you in buying yet more cliplock boxes! Oh, and I found 5 bags of penne Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 13/02/2011 21:34

bessie I also forgot the oven cleaner. I am also glad I wasn't the only one stock piling food for the apocalypse Grin

Tesco have the click lock boxes on special offer just now but they are still quite expensive.

Carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2011 10:48

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I am not sure it is traditionally a day for cleaning but I suppose it is a way of showing your love for your brood Wink
Kelly's MissionMonday's Daily Focus

I am slightly confused by Kelly's mission - one minute we are in the bathroom and laundry room and suddenly we are in the bathroom and a home office area.

If she means the study then my head is going firmly in the sand, lalalalalalalalalalala etc as Dh has started filing in there and I am not touching anything!

How does everyone else interpret it?

My sink is shiny, my worktops are gleaming and I am off to catch up on the laundry and do my home blessing.

We are all at home today so I reckon we can all share Wink so everyone will get a job Grin

Curlybrunette · 14/02/2011 11:23

Happy Valentines day everyone!

Hope you all awoke to huge bunches of red roses, or at least a card maybe. I got a beautiful card and a Cath Kidston mug which I am hugely impressed with. I have recently discovered Cath Kidston and if I get rich enough Hmm am going to make my house a tribute to her!

I did finish everything from last weeks list, detailed list as well which surprised me, at one point in the week I didn't think I'd do it, but I did spend about 3 hours cleaning yesterday so that helped.

Is there a detailed list for this week? I looked on the website but can't find one.

I've printed off this weeks tasks and am quite happy about this one as I gave my bathroom a really good clean last week so have pretty much done all that's needed for that. The office shouldn't be too much of a pain either as we had a huge sort out in there just after Xmas. It had reached crisis point in there Confused

Do any of you get your children to do the kids challenges? I don't but mine are 3 and 5 so probably could get them to do them. They aren't too bad and do understand that they need to help tidy up at the end of the day. We've also started asking them to put their pots near the sink after meals rather than leaving them on the table to get them prepared for the days when they stack the dishwasher etc.

Am at work today so won't get much more than the minimum done, though todays task shouldn't take long at all so might do that before bed.

Have a good day everyone
x

Carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2011 12:03

Hi Curly - glad you were spoiled a bit this morning.
I do get my kids to help with the tasks. Mine are 9 and 6. The 9 year old is properly helpful. My ds, who is 6, has problems with anxiety so I have to be careful what I ask and what I say about what he has done but he can help in many ways. They both get an enormous sense of achievement and a confidence boost when they see that they have really helped. My dh had a rotten childhood and very much pushes the idea that we are a team and all have to help each other. It works for us most of the time.
I didn't finish the detailed cleaning list for the kitchen. It was too big a job and the dcs were off school for mid term, heavy drinking was done etc. Grin I am not upset about it though as the kitchen is still massively better than it was before the week began and the things I did were deep cleaning so very satisfying. If there is a week that has less in it I can do a bit more in the kitchen.
Did you interpret the mission as doing the study or utility? I know I need to make mine the study as I did the utility last time it came up. I don't want to put dh off his filing either though as it has taken quite literally years to get him to do it Blush
I shall have a hunt for a detailed cleaning list for this weeks zone.

Carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2011 12:13

It took quite a bit of finding but here is zone 3's cleaning list. zone 3

Carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2011 12:14

I assume you don't do the whole list this week. You do the bathroom and one of the other rooms don't you? I think it is meant to be the office this time but it is a bit confusing.

Carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2011 12:15

zone 3

Carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2011 12:16

The second link seems to work.

Dosey · 14/02/2011 12:19
