I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Yay the link finally worked!

Carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2011 11:32

Thanks Curly - enjoy your child free morning.
I have thrown myself into the antiprocrastination day idea full pelt. I thought it was a rubbish focus but actually it is a very helpful one. I got my bloods done today (finally) after making the appt last Wednesday.
Today I made the dreaded smear appt - never pleasant but has to be done. I also made the dog's appt at the vet and my ds appt at the optician.
I would take ages to get round to these things but knowing I "have" to do it today is enough to make me get going.

As for the taps, I do them when I do my sink really.

Personally I am going to have a go at the cupboards instead, especially since dh went looking for Benadryl last night and a bottle of Calpol fell on his head. Shock Blush I think it was a sign.

So I am off into the big larder cupboard full of pasta, rice, crisps, medicine, cereal etc. I may be some time. If I don't reappear by 1.30 please send out a search party. Grin

Curlybrunette · 09/02/2011 12:37

Lol carrots! I'll set my alarm and call the emergency services if I don't hear back from you!!!

Sounds like a very productive day, I haven't really got any appointments to make but did notice it said to clean the fish tank out, I don't have fish but do have a chinchilla that could really do with a cage clean. Think I'll do it later after I've picked the boys up from school.

See you later (hopefully Wink)
x

Carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2011 13:23

I have emerged - one very large cupboard cleaned out. Loads of out of date medicines disposed of. Vitamins, kids medicines, first aid and adult medicines all in separate baskets.

I have enough break time snacks to last the dcs about a term Blush now all together in a clip lock box.
I have a whole basket full of treats! Blush again and a whole box of chocolate related treats. Blush Blush but also Grin Grin Grin
I have about 8 boxes of cereal. Blush Blush Blush
Do you spot the theme?
I suspect the food budget will be more manageable now it is sorted out.
I still have a carousel unit full of food related items to sort too!

This may well save us a fortune!

Carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2011 13:26

Curly I used to have a Chinchilla and loved him dearly. He lived in his cage during the day while I was at work and had the run of the flat when I got home from work. He used to jump up and sit on the edge of the bath when I was in it and chewed my shoes when I was sitting at the table marking and he wanted attention. He was a fantastic pet. I am very Envy

Longtalljosie · 09/02/2011 18:35

.

SilveryMoon · 09/02/2011 18:38

Evening all.
I don't get much time to do anything in the mornings, so since I've been home I have done
4 min hotspots (to make up for this morning's missed one)
5 min room rescue
Laundry
Mission (plus I scrubbed the drying rack with the toothbrush too)
15min declutter in kitchen - I did the junk drawer, I have bagged up all batteries, pens, paperclips etc and put all those alan keys in he toolbox.)
Tonight I just now need to cook dinner (I didn't do it on weekend coz dp is off work this week and thought he might help with that. WRONG), iron, lay out clothes, shine sink.

Curlybrunette · 09/02/2011 19:28

Wow Carrots that'll save you a fortune. But then it's so difficult to not buy more if you go to the shops and see something on offer. Even though you know it will be on offer time and time again!

My chin's lovely, a real cutie. I don't think I could let her out to roam though, she is a real chewer and I think she'd destroy my house. My downstairs toilet is quite big so i've bought lots of material and I line right around the perimeter of the room with the material and I keep various boxes and stuff for her to jump on. I let her out and sit in there with her for an hour or so and let her jump around. The material stops her chewing the skirting boards, cupboards, toilet, walls, sink...anything she can get her little teeth around.

Silver sounds like a very productive afternoon. I do wonder how people cope if they work full time (and have children) so are out of the house 4 or 5 days a week. How on earth they manage any housework I don't know.

Carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2011 20:45

Silvery I am seriously impressed. I am a SAHM so have about 3 hours a day which, if I am bored enough, I can devote to housework. I cannot imagine coming in from a full day's work, spending time with the dcs, then doing heaps of housework. I know I used to do it but I just can't imagine doing it now. I salute you!

Curly my house was wrecked, he chewed the wallpaper, my briefcase, phone cables by the dozen, books and worst of all, the sofa piping...but he was my buddy and I loved him Grin

I won't be buying anymore snacks until the snack box is empty and no chocolate until the choc box is empty - deal or no deal! Dh has already had a rummage and decluttered a bag of pistachios. I am about to do my bit and declutter the bag of maltesers I found. Grin

SharonGless · 09/02/2011 21:27

Yes please as long as this one doesn't have fluff on it!
Mmmm its going very nicely with my brew - ta

Been working a long day today so only got my quick routine done and put load of washing on. Off to shine the kitchen sink and swish and swipe bathroom after I do my teeth

Dosey · 09/02/2011 21:55

hi all, I have been lurking for a few days, I have been working but managed to log in and check out my daily missions. I was mortified when I read the detailed cleaning list, how did that sneak in. I must say I have also started a mini journal, I was getting all confused with my routines, missions, daily focus and now the detailed cleaning list. So I have made a little journal which I have adapted to fit round me and my home. It has my own daily routine and my daily focus and I also have printed off this weeks detailed cleaning list to pop in there. I just have to remember to read it now!!!! All very good intentions!!!!

Hope we are all well

Carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2011 22:51

Sharon these ones are nice and clean in true Flylady fashion.
Dosey I have printed off a detailed cleaning list and stuck it inside the door of my big cupboard. The only way I can get through it all is by making cleaning out a cupboard count as decluttering, hot spotting and room rescuing as well - although I seem to be more in the habit of hotspotting etc throughout the day now.
I need to write out a list of the daily focus tasks and stick it in there too.
It is getting a lot to do. I am not going to beat myself over the head with it though. Anything I do is progress as far as I am concerned.
The dcs are on mid term now so progress will be limited for the next week.
How has everyone else been getting on?

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2011 00:20

Carrots, I have to say, the only reason I got lots done when I got in was because dp is off work this week so I didn't sit with the kids like I would if we were both working.
I'm happy if they get attention from either, but at least 1 of us.
Dp is not good after a full days work, and even when not working, is a shouter so I do try to step back whenever I can to give him and the boys some time to get to know each other and spot stress. Triggers.

Carrotsandcelery · 10/02/2011 20:49

Evening everyone. What have you all been doing today?
I have spent the day with the dcs Grin so only did the basics. I got them to do the room rescue just before bedtime too as it was their mess.
Has anyone done anything inspiring?
Dh is supposed to be off from tonight until Tuesday so it will be interesting to see if that helps (or not as Silvery says). He is still not home from work yet though so I am not convinced he won't be going in. Sad

Carrotsandcelery · 10/02/2011 21:10

As predicted, about 2 mins after I posted, dh came home and he has to work tomorrow. Sad
He did bring me some beautiful flowers though. Grin
I have invited a good friend for tea and it is lovely not to have to panic round the house for her coming. I just have to cook something presentable Hmm

Dosey · 10/02/2011 21:27

glad you got some flowers carrots, bless your dh. I am secretly hoping for a little valentine treat this weekend Wink.Had a good day with my routines and stuff. Working my way through the cleaning list, I really like to get as much as possible done before the weekend comes.I even managed to get outside and clear a little of the garden up today, it really is a mess out there. Is there a flylady for the garden I wonder because I would find that very helpful x

Carrotsandcelery · 10/02/2011 22:01

Funny I was wondering about a Flylady for the garden yesterday Dosey. I'm not sure I could cope though. Blush
I do admit I like having a list and mentally ticking things off though. Makes you feel like you are making a difference.

SharonGless · 11/02/2011 08:03

Morning all
Do I need to link to anything this morning? Not sure where we are up to to be honest. Got home from work at 11.30 but couldn't go to bed until 1 as was wide awake. DC up at 6.30 so am raring to go this morning -not.

Busy day today so will just do my usual routine with maybe a room rescue in DC rooms as they are bit messy.

I am liking the Flylady for the garden idea. Maybe we could just do our own. Think I need to finish the house first though Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 11/02/2011 13:55

Sharon I definitely need to finish the house first!
Today's links are:
Kelly's Mission
Friday's Daily Focus
Plus our usual routines and whatever we feel able to achieve from the detailed cleaning list for the kitchen.

I had a bit of a mini trauma this morning. I decided to clean out the dreaded carousel and I got it empty and it collapsed!
The kitchen company are sending someone out this afternoon to try to fix is so fingers crossed. Meantime I have the contents of the carousel on trays and in boxes all over the kitchen...and a friend coming for tea tonight! Shock
Luckily she is a good friend and won't bat an eyelid if there are cooking and baking ingredients all over the place. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 11/02/2011 13:57

I am amused by the mission! I still haven't done my floor yet. Personally I will wait until the cupboard is fixed and the contents sorted and replaced. Any excuse Grin

bessie26 · 11/02/2011 14:21

oh dear carrots were you cleaning it a little too vigorously?! Wink I am dreading something like that happening to our kitchen - it's from MFI - it got fitted about 2 months before they went bust!

DD & I were out this morning, but since we've been back I've done some laundry, put the dishwasher on, vacuumed downstairs & mopped the kitchen/utility/loo, and cleaned the filters in the extractor fan over the oven.

I am knackered today (DH has had man flu all week & has been keeping me awake with his coughing ) so I'm going to take a cup of hot chocolate upstairs & put my feet up on the bed for a bit, and hopefully have a bit of a snooze before DD wakes up Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 11/02/2011 14:28

Sounds like you have earned it Bessie. Enjoy!
Carousel collapse was clearly due to over enthusiastic cleaning and nothing to do with the ridiculous excess necessary stores I keep in it. Blush
Great excuse to make today's declutter my carousel though.
I'm off to do some laundry and then sort out all the stuff strewn around the kitchen into some sort of vague order.

bessie26 · 11/02/2011 19:27

carrots did you get the carousel fixed?

my sneaky plans for a snooze were scuppered by DD falling out of her bed about 10mins after I sat down! so spent most of the afternoon making a den out of duvets & pillows instead Grin

I think some kind of flylady routine would work well in the garden, but as sharon says, I think I need to get the house sorted first!

off to play with some laundry now - woohoo!

Carrotsandcelery · 11/02/2011 21:15

Bad luck bessie although the den building sounds like fun.
I did get the carousel fixed and the repair man went to town on the dishwasher and kickboards too so I was very very glad I had cleaned the cupboard fronts and tidied under the kitchen sink.
Ds then helped me sort and replace all the stuff in the carousel. I put a lot of it into plastic click lock tubs so it can't spill and make a mess. It also consolidated the stocks. How much soft brown sugar does one family need? I need more click lock tubs though. Grin
I had a lovely meal with my friend but have not done the laundry and won't be doing it now. I knew things would go a bit wonky while the dcs were off. My ds has problems and today he wanted almost constant attention so unless he could get involved too then it wasn't going to happen.
It still feels like progress though as the carousel unit was horrific and now it is lovely - and I know roughly what is in it now too. Grin Grin

bessie26 · 11/02/2011 21:46

wow carrots if you carry on clearing out the cupboards like this, you'll never need to go shopping again! Grin

Which reminds me, I need to sort out a sains list, which means I need to go do a meal planner for next week carrots you mentioned before about sharing some veggie recipes? I'm experimenting with collating all my recipes here, but it could take some time...
