I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Well done noeyedear - feels good doesn't it?
I have gone back and emptied the other drawer unit in the study and then the whole wardrobe.
I have also sorted out all the craft stuff into the drawers (with the box sets on the shelf above).
Then I got all the greeting cards into a drawer and all the wrapping paper and bags into a box in the cupboard. Alongside that I have a large box full of gifts for many occasions that I have gathered along the way.
What a difference!
The study is now a bit messy Hmm again but not massively and I know it will get sorted in no time.
The kitchen table is now also a bit messy too which is a more pressing problem. I don't want to just shove it all away again as that is how I got into this mess in the first place Shock

SilveryMoon · 03/02/2011 18:41

Hello.
I'm not going to attempt to catch up with the thread, but am going to try to get back on the FLY wagon again.
I'm finding it so hard now that I'm working.
I did today's mission at 6am this morning. I hoovered my entrance way, re-organised the shoe rack and wiped down walls and the front door.

We will see how it goes.
Anything exciting happened whilst I've been away?
Where are we all at?
I assume you completed the baby steps?

Carrotsandcelery · 03/02/2011 18:50

Hi Silvery it is lovely to have you back.Smile

Hoovering at 6am seems a bit extreme Shock - maybe you could adapt things to suit your work routine a bit better. If you take on too much you will end up doing nothing.

Carrotsandcelery · 03/02/2011 18:51

Oh and yes, we have just finished the babysteps. We are working from the daily email now with a Kelly mission and a daily focus.

SilveryMoon · 03/02/2011 18:57

I was awake at 4am and full of beans.
That is exactly what has been happening. Nothing.
I signed up for the daily e-mail, but when i access it 9via blackberry) it comes up with a main page for bigtent.
What's a daily focus??

Carrotsandcelery · 03/02/2011 19:16

It seems to be that every day of the week we have a different focus eg Monday is home blessing, Tues is plan the week, Wed was anti procrastination day (getting round to making appointments, writing and posting birthday cards etc). It is the same every week so I imagine that after a few weeks we don't have to think about it - we will be automotons and just do it!

Carrotsandcelery · 03/02/2011 19:17

I think I am going to mess about with the daily focus plan though tbh. I will try Flylady's plan for a while and see if it grows on me first.

SilveryMoon · 03/02/2011 19:21

Oh, I see. Yes, I tried that for a while last year, but then changed it to suit myself.

I can't do the daily focus.

Carrotsandcelery · 03/02/2011 20:50

I don't blame you - I don't think it is suited to me either.
Keep it simple Silvery and you are more likely to manage it with everything else.

Dosey · 03/02/2011 21:20

hi Silvery good to have you back.

I have only managed to do my routines today but will catch up on missions tomorrow while dds are are school and nursery. I wont give into the temptation of putting morning tv on until I have caught up x

bessie26 · 03/02/2011 22:38

hi silvery have you only recently gone back to work? defo stick to the babysteps for now - I only do the bare minimum on work days.

wow noeye - how do you manage to plan so many meals so quickly? I have only done a week's worth this evening! Blush

I have been entering recipes into www.shoppingplanner.co.uk though, I did it last week for the first time & it makes a good shopping list, so I'm really hoping that once I've gone through the tedious bit of entering them onto the site it will speed things up a bit!

SilveryMoon · 04/02/2011 05:18

I returned to work in October. I do alot of travelling for it. I leave home at 6:15am and get back at 6pm.
I have a demkanding and tiring job so not often got the energy when I get home.
Will look at that meal planner link later.

Carrotsandcelery · 04/02/2011 10:07

Morning everyone.
So we are back to decluttering our cars and our handbags. It shouldn't take long after just one week. I know the dcs have left a couple of wrappers in the back pockets so I will have a delve.
I have already dealt with the dishwasher and put on washing and folded washing etc so doing ok today.
I still have the debris from the massive study cupboard diving but I will work away steadily at that when I am in today. I am going to empty the craft cupboard in the kitchen first and filter it into the study so all the craft stuff is in one place and I can reclaim a couple of kitchen cupboards. Smile
Dh is supposed to be off today but is having to work from home Sad I am sure I can still get him to deal with the massive pile of recycling and rubbish that has built up at the back door though in one of this breaks. Grin
What is everyone else up to today?

Carrotsandcelery · 04/02/2011 10:08

Friday's mission from Kelly

Dosey · 04/02/2011 10:50

morning carrots, thank you for the link. Am just having a cuppa after finishing my hour blessing. Going to catch up on some of the missions before I go and pick dd2 up from playgroup. Hopefully I will get some stuff this afternoon so I can have a mission free weekend.

My dp is off today and really annoying me, how dare he sit and read the newspapers during house blessing hour!!!! He is making the place look so untidy!!!!

Oh well back to it x

Longtalljosie · 04/02/2011 13:34

Hello everyone - still here and lurking. Like Silvery I'm finding it hard juggling with work - I work Mondays and Tuesdays until midnight so the whole leave the kitchen clean thing doesn't really happen. Wednesdays I do a sort of modified house blessing just to try and get things back to scratch - and then I look at the missions and realise I've missed most of them! Oh well...

SharonGless · 04/02/2011 13:40

Hi everyone and welcome back to Silvery Moon. I think you need to be kind to yourself and not have a morning routine on work days just evening routine. Home blessing on a Saturday and plan your meals for the week then enjoy time with DC&DP on Sundays? Are you working 5 days per week cos that must be tough on you. Keep coming on here and we will motivate you!

Thanks for the link. I knew I had to declutter car today but there isn't much to do and am doing my handbag now. Books have all gone to charity shop am about to start on DS books now. I feel this is a cathartic experience for me as am a real hoarder.

Regarding craft unit it is just an Ikea trofast But was overflowing and had piles of childrens magazines for them to cut out and stick plus loads of other junk. All sorted now.

Am a bit rubbish with meal planning and shopping this week so that is my task for tonight. Have changed our bed,put casserole in slow cooker for tea as we have swimming tonight and sorted two loads of washing

bessie26 · 04/02/2011 14:16

I work 3 days a week & my morning routine is
Laundry
Clean bathroom sink
Swish & swipe
Check calendar
Load dishwasher

My evening routine is also minimal
Laundry (I don't have this much to do I just need the reminder to check!)
Wipe down highchair & table
2 min hotspot (optional)
5 min room rescue (optional)
15 min declutter (optional)
Shine sink

If I have time, I will do more, but I'd rather do it this way round than over commit myself and then fail!

Off to spend 15mins in the wardrobe now, wonder if I'll find Narnia?

Carrotsandcelery · 04/02/2011 16:21

It sounds like we are all reaching a point where we can work out our own routines to suit the time we have available.
I have made an horrific mess of the kitchen emptying cupboards and moving stuff around.
The aim is to focus the craft stuff in one cupboard in the study and to put the files and pen drawers that currently sit on the desk into a big unit that we have and therefore free up the desk so it can be used.

It looks like it will work out reasonably well but I have no idea how to store my cookery books. I have no bookshelves in the kitchen. Will have to think about it.
I am finding this really cathartic too as I too have hoarded and shoved stuff away for years, hence the extent of my decluttering and reorganising now.
Once it is done it will be magic though.

Carrotsandcelery · 04/02/2011 16:24

Sharon the Trofast from Ikea looks fantastic - I could use them in lots of cupboards all over the house. We don't have an Ikea though (our nearest it about 3 hours away) so I will have to check out their delivery service. Has anyone ordered online?

Carrotsandcelery · 04/02/2011 16:28

Hmm They don't deliver to our area it seems! It will have to wait until we are next down at MIL then. Good excuse for a wee outing while we are there Grin

noeyedear · 04/02/2011 17:23

Bessie I get 3 headings- meat, veggie and fish and write down 6 dishes I regularly make under each of those, looking at my recipe books etc. Then I go through 4 weeks, putting at least 1 fish, meat and veggie in each. Not done much today, just emptied out my DS's drawers!

bessie26 · 04/02/2011 19:19

Ah, thanks noeye that's what I do, except as I'm veggie my headings are tofu/quorn/egg/beans/lentils and I always have a "quick" one too as there's always one night a week we're in a rush!

I've done my wardrobe!!! Grin did 3x15 mins, and have managed to fit everything in (we needed to get rid of the wardrobe in the spare room and a chest of drawers to make room for #2's arrival) I'm not sure how I'll cope with the loss of space once I've put away my maternity clothes and have my normal clothes out of storage again, but I'll worry about that then!

Longtalljosie · 04/02/2011 20:31

Hello there - I made up my own mission today, and cleaned out the fridge properly, washing up the shelves and taking them apart and everything Grin

Am also seeing the physio for my back tomorrow so hopefully will be back on form soon...
