I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? A pedicure? Envy. Mind you, I'm off to yoga tonight, so will be suitably relaxed later too! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2011 18:31

Very very Envy on pedicure front but not sure I would be brave enough to bare my feet to anyone right now.
Bessie sounds like it was important time with dd so I wouldn't beat yourself up. I too could really use a choc digestive. Yummy!
I have tidied up from guests but they left just as I picked dcs up from school so we went straight into afternoon routine and homework.
Feeling bone weary so will need a second wind if I am to do the mission. I do know it is not too bad under there. Dh has some sport stuff he uses there but otherwise I think it is just my Next order which I will have to tackle. Blush
I am terrified Kelly suggests we do the wardrobe next [shivers of fear emoticon] which I suppose means I know it needs done. Yikes.

bessie26 · 24/01/2011 18:59

I didn't even look under the bed, DH found out he has to cover for someone who's off sick this week, which means no skiving leaving off early, so I had to quickly get an online shop booked for tomorrow night. Ugh, it's bad enough doing the meal planning & writing the shopping list, but having to enter it all online too?!

carrots is your wardrobe full of shoes? Wink We need to get rid of a chest of drawers in our bedroom, so I need to get 2 big drawers worth of stuff into my wardrobe. I've bagged up alot of my pre-pg clothes to go in the loft for a few months, but will need a major declutter if I ever want to bring them downstairs again!!

Carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2011 19:43

bessie it is possible there are a few pairs of shoes in there but I haven't seen most of them in some time as there is a whole load of crap lot of precious stuff shoved stored in there on top of them.
I truely loathe internet supermarket shopping - it is the work of the devil. The only thing that makes the shop tolerable is browsing all the interesting stuff before you actually buy the stuff you need. You have my sympathy.

dylsmum1998 · 24/01/2011 20:27

evening all I haven't done the mission for today as I did that on Saturday so it is nice and tidy under there. I've also been in uni all day so not had time for housework.
I have managed to tidy through, S&s bathrooms, get tomorrows clothes out and make the lunches.

Noeyedear hope you enjoyed your session, it sounds veyr relaxing although I don't like my feet touched.

Bessie I hate internet shopping too.

Dosey · 24/01/2011 21:11

hi all, had a really busy weekend and didnt manage to message, I did still manage to keep up with my routines and the new baby steps didnt seem too daunting. I havent done todays mission because I have been at work and love the telly on a monday night so I will catch up during the week. I already do the swish and wipe, on a night when I clean my teeth I do I quick wipe down in the bathroom. My electric toothbrush is on a two minute timer so I go armed with toothbrush in gob and cloth in hand. Two minutes is all it takes.

Hope we are all well, we are nearly done with the babysteps, we are doing so well!!!!

SharonGless · 24/01/2011 21:58

Hi everyone - just been catching up with what you all have been up to and very impressed. So much so that I decluttered a kitchen drawer that has been bugging me for ages! I was working yesterday and today so not much got done in way of routines but am up to date with all washing so that's one thing.

I am going to my weekly blessing tomorrow as am off work. Couldn't do todays mission as DD full of cough and cold and wanted to cuddle in my bed... then I loooked at the mission! Oh well- will do 15 minutes tomorrow instead. Am hoping she will be feeling better and we can go out for a girlie shopping trip. I haven't looked ahead yet for tomorrow's mission/babystep

SharonGless · 24/01/2011 22:01

Have you tried saving a favourites list for your internet shopping and then just adding/deleting the things you need every week? Also the link up the thread was really good for meal planning/shopping lists

noeyedear · 25/01/2011 10:05

Pedicure was a Christmas pressie from DH- was lovely!

Sainsburys are doing meal planning on their website- 5 days meals for for under £20. Recipes look OK, so I might have a look next week. Just realised I'm the first one on here on Tuesday, but I've never done a link on here, so I'll probably make a hash of it if I try to link to todays babystep!

DS in preschool again today, so I'm going to do the hoovering!

Carrotsandcelery · 25/01/2011 10:19

Tuesday's Baby StepTuesday's mission

Morning everyone.
Sharon I hope dd has perked up.
Shopping lists and meal planning do seem to feature regularly in our posts. Does Flylady have a routine for this?
I have a bit of catch up to do today. I have been outside messing about moving rabbits around. I am going out later (to get my hair cut Grin) so I will get as much done as I can before I leave as Tuesday after school is a busy one.
Let us know how you are all getting on. I am considering tackling my wardrobe rather than sitting dreading the mission that tells me to do it! I will dig around under the bed and in my sock drawer first though. Wish me luck!

Carrotsandcelery · 25/01/2011 12:12

Well I did under the bed, then my sock drawer which led on to doing the whole chest of drawers and then, since I am in chucking out mood I started on the wardrobe. There are now only shoes on the wardrobe floor and only handbags and scarves that I use on the top shelf, as well as my new jeans.
I still have my bedside drawers and a plastic drawer unit inside the wardrobe to sort through - that will require a large plastic bag really as it is full of toiletries that I don't use.
It feels good though - even though the room looks the same on the outside it feels lighter and that is a good feeling. Grin
How is everyone else getting on?

SharonGless · 25/01/2011 14:53

Carrots you are on a roll!
I have just done my mission and cleared out socks, knickers, bras and tights which only took 15 minutes. Can't believe how quickly I managed to get it done.

DD having sleep now but haven't managed to do home blessing. Done usual routine, stripped beds and mission so having well earned brew before picking DS up.

Am going to do under bed tonight as DS got friends coming after tea so will be chaos.

Am loving the decluttering though

SharonGless · 25/01/2011 14:57

I am sure that I have seen something on flylady about meal planning but can't find it now. If anyone finds it will they please link it. I desperately need to do this but am trying to use up the rubbish in the freezer first

bessie26 · 25/01/2011 17:51

I don't remember seeing anything on the flylady site about meal planning, but I do have some links to some other sites, will post them later when I switch the laptop on.
My problem with most of the meal planning sites is that they don't have enough veggie recipes that are suitable for us (I don't like eating a lot of cheese & DD doesn't like any beans apart from baked beans!) so I've been collecting links to recipes I like, and am trying to create my own 4 week meal planner...

Am impressed with all the bedroom action! DH is out tonight, so perhaps I'll manage to get some before the Sainsbury's man comes round!

Carrotsandcelery · 25/01/2011 20:41

Bessie are you vegetarians? We are. Perhaps we could help each other to build up a 4 week meal planner by sharing recipes or something.
Thanks for all the links. I haven't looked at them yet but I will. It definitely saves a lot of money and a lot of waste if you can meal plan and shop to a specific list.
I am sure there was something somewhere on flylady about meal planning too Sharon I will try to find time to have a hunt.
I haven't figured out the babystep for today yet. I signed up for one flylady email a day as I had been warned that otherwise you get LOADS of them. I will go and look one up and see if I can figure it out.
I also did the underwear drawer at lightning speed and was Blush at what was in there and how much I could chuck out. It will make dressing much much easier from now on. Grin

bessie26 · 25/01/2011 20:57

I'm veggie, DD & DH aren't but are both happy to eat veggie food when they're at home Grin - am always happy to share recipes, perhaps we should start another thread about it?

Fly lady's Food for thought page

Carrotsandcelery · 25/01/2011 21:45

You are not behind! I don't want you to try to catch up; I just want you to jump in where we are. O.K.?

Let's Go for Seven in 2011!

I don't think I am supposed to paste from the Flylady website but this is from an email sent to me I hope it is ok. I can't very well link to my email anyway.

This is what was at the bottom of my Flylady email - do you think this is what she means?

bessie a veggie menu planner thread is a great idea. I know there are a lot of veggies on mn.

Thanks for the link - I am just off to have a look.

(P.S. I couldn't find dd (9) this evening and eventually discovered her in the wardrobe tidying up dh's side for him since mine looked so nice! [cute emoticon]

Carrotsandcelery · 25/01/2011 22:34

I have just made a table on the word processor on my laptop and planned 4 weeks of meals just out of meals we regularly make. I was surprised by how many meals we make. Shock
Now I just have to make up the shopping lists that go with them. I reckon there must be some way of doing them on the computer so that you can just print them out each time. Confused I think I need to get dh on the job.

Carrotsandcelery · 25/01/2011 22:36

I think you can actually do what I was talking about on the second last link bessie posted.

noeyedear · 26/01/2011 09:44

I bought a new slow cooker, and did a lovely veggie chilli in it, which took no time at all and was ready on time, then decided to do brown rice with it- an HOUR later, it was cooked! And that wasn't even done in the slow cooker

Carrotsandcelery · 26/01/2011 09:48

Wednesday's Baby Step That is no 27 - we have nearly finished babysteps!

Wednesday's Mission

Both of these seem fairly attainable - I did a four week menu plan last night and it will only take 5 minutes to dust the tops of the doors and windows in our bedroom.

I have decided to go through my bedside table and the drawer unit in my wardrobe too. Any ideas what to do with unwanted toiletries?

Curlybrunette · 26/01/2011 10:35

morning everyone!

I'm getting on well but don't think I'm sticking to the plan too much.

I only started on Saturday but have shined the sink, swish and swiped, dressed to socks(!) each day but not sure what else I should be doing. I've already got lots of jobs done that I'd been putting off, mainly paperwork stuff. I've also sorted 2 massive bags of dc's clothes and have taken them to the charity shop immediately, rather than left the bags sat there for weeks.

I guess it's the 15 minute thing I haven't been doing, but I feel so much happier with what I've done over the last few days.

My cousin popped round unexpectedly yesterday and I didn't feel even the slightest bit of panic! There was toys everywhere (which I don't mind anyway, I think it's nice to see toys out and the kids playing) but there wasn't piles of paperwork sat out waiting to be dealth with, and the kitchen was clear of pots as I'm trying to make sure it is tidy after breakfast.

I'm a very happy fly-ing curly at the minute!

Carrotsandcelery · 26/01/2011 11:22

It sounds like you are doing brilliantly Curly - well done!
I think your decluttering of paperwork and dc's clothes would count as your 15 minute declutter really. I see it as getting into one of those yukky jobs that we put off anyway!

Flylady's advice to get the charity bag straight into the car is a very good one. Once it is in the car you are desperate to get it moved along. I suppose the equivalent is to put it right in front of the front door for those who have a public transport system that is worth using? I'm in a rural area so it is not a realistic option unless you have won the lottery recently!
It is lovely that I can chat to a Mum at the school gates and invite a few for coffee without having palpitations. As you say, there may be a few toys sitting around but it wouldn't suit me to be in a sterile environment. I know it is CLEAN and that is what made me feel Blush before!

Carrotsandcelery · 26/01/2011 11:24

Forgot to say I have massively decluttered my wardrobe drawer unit and my bedside table drawer. It was a horrid job tbh. I was as ruthless as I could be though.
The bonus was I found a £20 note Shock and heaps of change too Grin so I can meet a couple of friends for lunch today without damaging the purse! Hurrah!
