Oooh, I clean my dryer vent (and water collector thingy) every Sunday anyway, but have never thought to vacuum it! Look forward to doing that this arvo!

"Don?t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer" has to be my key commandment, if I didn't do that I would get loads more done & get to bed on time!

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 13:00

The vent I did was in my bathroom ceiling - now I am confused Hmm but reckon my safest route is to hoover the tumble dryer vents out as well - there is fluff everywhere and dh is highly amused as everytime I go in the tumble dryer I emerge with a satsumas sized circle of fluff on my boob - it must be the angle of entry! Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 13:01

I definitely have a problem with being sidetracked by the computer...

bessie26 · 17/01/2011 13:27

kelly's mission says we're in the bathroom & laundry room zones, so I guess any kind of vent in either of those will do? I've never cleaned the extractor fan in the bathroom either!

Defo need to set a timer for MN sessions!

dylsmum1998 · 17/01/2011 13:36

turns out the car prob was the cltuch jamming (or something) It was booked in to have a new clutch on weds as it was slipping a lot last week. I phonwed garage and asked them to look at it sooner. They gonna try and do it this afternoon or tomorrow morning instead.

Carrots did you do anything to the vent to hoover it (take it apart or whatever firt?) I should prob take a look at my vent

SilveryMoon · 17/01/2011 16:59

Evening.
I do have a vent in my bathroom and should really take the front off to have a hoover in there. I don't really like taking light domes down coz of all the dead bugs Blush
For zone 3 here it is always the bathroom and boys bedroon. Their bedroom is the only other room we have (apart from kitchen, living room and master bedroom) so it's always done.
This morning I moved their bookcase. I'm going to spend this week gradually rearranging their room brcause I took the cot down on the weekend (bunkbeds are a god-send)

Kelly's mission is the last thing on the list for the day, I think I will only do that if I get everything else done

dylsmum1998 · 17/01/2011 17:42

I found my vent has a slide out bit (think like the fluff catcher on a tumble dryer) so cleaning the bathroom vent is very easy. I didn't bother with the light as when I replaced the bulb last week it was done then.

Have made a cake, hoovered through and put up ds's tv sllef in his bedroom. I'm thinking baout my extra 'room' this week being the cupboard under the stairs as it is a tip!

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 20:07

To hoover the vent in my bathroom ceiling I literally just took the hose from the hoover right up to it and let it do it's thing. It doesn't come apart or come off. I did wipe round it with a duster since I was up doing the light fitting anyway. It wasn't that dirty to be honest.
I haven't done the tumble dryer one as it was on, drying sheets from dds sleepover (just too much for all the radiators and the pulley) and now it would be too noisy. Grin
I decluttered the games and jigsaw cupboard tonight as the dcs decided to go on jigsaw making frenzy. I have got to the stage with some of those jigsaws that I recognise the piece and know exactly where it should go.
We removed the ones that they are no longer interested in and we will pass them on to a friend when we see her in a couple of days. I also decluttered the cupboard where all the "tupperware" that is not actually made by tupperware is kept and threw out the tubs wwith no lids and the lids with no tubs and the old ice cream tubs we had kept etc.
That is me for the night until dh comes home and he or I deal with his meal dishes.
It has felt like a gently productive day.

Longtalljosie · 18/01/2011 09:39

Oh lordy - today's babystep appears to be to read poetry Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 18/01/2011 10:56

Pardon? Read poetry? I'm off to have a look.

Carrotsandcelery · 18/01/2011 10:58

babystep 19 Hmm

Carrotsandcelery · 18/01/2011 11:01

Sorry - I used to teach English and love a good poem - but this is not for me! Oh well! Means a day with no extra things to add to my list - Hurrah!
Kelly's mission for Tuesday

Carrotsandcelery · 18/01/2011 11:05

I am having a good day so far. I have swished the bathrooms (ds helped with this Shock), put a wash on (dd helped with this Shock), tidied up the kitchen and kitchen table and sideboard (again) and spent 30 mins decluttering the dreaded study. I can now get far enough across the room to open the blinds. Grin
I am off to do Kelly's mission and then do some tidying in the utility room.
Then I might do some more in the study.

dylsmum1998 · 18/01/2011 11:16

morning all. Am still waiting for my car to be fixed so am skiving off doing uni work from home Grin

This morning have sorted dry washing, swept kitchen and hall way, washed floors, s&s bathroom, cleaned under stair cupboard Shock it only took 10 mins! loaded washer. Taken ds to orthodontist.

Am having 15 mins internet time (have set timer) before I do the ironing

Carrots sounds like a productive day so far Smile

I won't be reading the poetry either, will have a nosey at todays mission though.

Carrotsandcelery · 18/01/2011 12:15

Hi dylsmum - it took me an hour to do Kelly's mission and to clean my utility from the very top to the very bottom - that includes scrubbing all the filters in the tumble dryer and scrubbing the washing powder drawer on the washing machine and the front of the washing machine etc. It was really really dirty Shock Blush so it was very very satisfying Grin
The only other task I am considering today is putting lots of cds and dvds back into their cases. I will see how it goes as Tuesday afternoon is mental - lots of dc activities to squeeze in - so need to pace myself. Wink

dylsmum1998 · 18/01/2011 13:44

ok ironing done, hoovering and dusting done and the mission.

Had a call from the garage the flywheel on car has gone as well as the clutch so it going to cost almost £300 (but I don't need a fly wheel- its a car not an aeroplane! Wink). seriously do not need this. I need to sort out my finances they are not good at the moment. A leaflet to help work out income/outcome etc came through with my bank statement this month, think I need to do that to help me budget.

Carrots ferrying children round can be chaotic can't it. I think you have done more than enough for one day Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 18/01/2011 14:20

Pffft to the car repair dylsmum - that sucks.
What are you studying at Uni? Can you keep up from home or will you be missing lectures etc?
Sounds like you have used your at home time well though so all is not lost. That is something you don't have to do another day when you can get to Uni.
I have made tea and put it in the oven on low so it is ready when we come home from all our activities today.
The more I do the less comfortable I am spending ages just faffing on the laptop. I tried to waste some time be friendly and phone my Mum but she and my Dad are taking my SIL to the airport so that plan was thwarted.
I am staring at a massive pile of clean laundry which needs sorted and folded but it is a job I loathe and one I know dh will potter away at when he watches tv tonight. Wink
I might be forced to do the next lot of ironing Shock

CointreauVersial · 18/01/2011 18:34

Hello, hello, yah-boo-sucks to the poetry!

I haven't bothered with Kelly's Mission today either , as we have just repainted our bathroom door so it is totally pristine.

Had a quick whizz around the house, folded laundry, swept the kitchen floor etc. but nothing constructive today. I would love to while away the next hour on MN but I have to do my online Tesco shop, make the tea and be out the door in an hour's time for a football club committee meeting (zzzz...).

Happy shining, everyone.

Dosey · 18/01/2011 21:00

hi all didnt get to post last yesterday, by the time I got home from work, sorted the kids out, watched two hours of telly, did my routines, it was bedtime which I am trying very hard to stick to. I have done todays mission and washed my bathroom door, the top of it was minging. I have also done 15 minutes decluttering in the bedroom and done the ironing. All this on top of a days work and sorting the kiddies out too. aren't even going to attempt to read the poem. Going to now watch big fat gypsey wedding!!! Happy shining to you cointreau

bessie26 · 18/01/2011 21:17

poetry? I'm not even going to look!

I worked out why I was hoovering my tumble dryer, while the rest of you were cleaning the vents in your bathroom - I need to learn to use the scroll bar on the mission page! Blush

well done dyls for setting a timer for internet time! I AM switching the laptop off at 9:30 so I can quickly do my bedtime routine & attempt to get into bed by 10.

SharonGless · 18/01/2011 22:20

Just a quick hello from me.
Was doing pretty well until DD has had the runs and loads of wee accidents too. DS had friend to play after school and they both trashed the house so have just been keeping on top of the chaos.

Decided to tackle my biggest hotspot - ages ago I decided to hide all the paperwork in a basket thing with a lid. My kitchen looked tidy but all sorts was hiding in there. Well it is DONE!

Not done Kelly's mission today but well done everyone else. This is me switching PC off for the night too to get in bed for 10.30. Night all

dylsmum1998 · 19/01/2011 07:47

carrots I am doing my pgce in primary teaching. I can catch up from home as the some of my friends on the course are sharing their notes with me and most lecturers put there powerpooints on the uni site so I can see roughly what they are doing, but feel bad when I don't get in. Today I won't be going in as the lecture is a late one and I have to take ds to the dentist.

everyone is doing well with sticking to their bedtimes Smile

I have been up on my own for a bit this morning, so I have; tidied, hoovered, s&s bathrooms, put sofa covers in the wash. Am off to chase dd out of bed to get her fed and ready for school.

BBL

Carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2011 11:24

Sharon well done - I have a carrier bag like that lurking in the horror of the study.
dylsmum I used to be a teacher too - secondary English - I wanted to be a primary teacher but couldn't get in. I am very Envy
I have been to the park with the dog and then to the supermarket. Bathrooms are swished, dirty washing dealt with, worktops and kitchen table tidy and clean.
I still have a mountain of clean clothes unsorted and unfolded (dh had to work late Sad)
Wednesday's Baby Step That has made me laugh - I had typed the start of my post before I looked this up. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2011 11:26

Kellly's mission for Wednesday if you are feeling keen.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2011 11:29

Nothing too scary today then. We have a tiny bathroom so the vanity is minimal (understatement) and I wipe the fronts every time I clean the bathroom as my kids are animals they get a touch dirty.

There is no escaping the laundry though.
I think most of us were doing this fairly routinely anyway. Unless you have a massive wardrobe of clothes you don't really have a choice!
