I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? carrots I enjoy the course, feeling very out of love with it at the moment, but think thats cos I am in a uni block at the moment, where I spend an hour and a half travelling to a 2 hour lecture then an hour and half home again. Would much rather be in school. I am spending today doing maths coursework as I have done all my routines before taking dd to school. Have done the babystep and missions before looking them up.

I gave myself a 2 min break as my sis just disturbed my by phoning, am not in a sit stil mood so struggling to ocncentrate Hmm

Carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2011 12:38

dylsmum when I was training (long time ago now) I hated the college time. I didn't find it all that helpful in comparison to being out in a school learning from experience and from everyone around me. It is a necessary evil though. The travel sound grim. I hope when you are on placement you are placed locally.

The laundry mountain has been scaled - finally - although I do have a basket full of odd socks and more laundry drying. If it is now a routine I suppose I just add the sorting and folding to the daily routine and it doesn't grow to mountain status again.

I am off to check the vanity fronts and make my bed Blush after I have finished my lunch.

Then I suppose I should venture back into the study [fear emoticon]

CointreauVersial · 19/01/2011 13:00

I think I have the Babystep covered - I'm pretty anal organised about laundry. Having a decent utility room where I can dry everything is the key - and the fact that I don't iron!

Another get-out-of-jail-free card on the Missions, too, as our bathroom has only been installed for about four weeks I still have a pristine "vanity." Grin

Paperwork tonight, I think. I need to sort out the kids' schedules now that the after school clubs are kicking off, and pay a few bills.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2011 15:01

I have been very motivated - hurrah for this thread - and have done the ironing, cleaned the cupboard fronts etc in bathroom, cleaned the glass paned door and side window in our vestibule (horrible job), cleaned the laptop which was vile and I have been brave and decluttered the study for 15mins - it is beginning to look like a messy room now rather than completely terrifying Grin.
My new Next catalogue has arrived so I was going to reward myself with a nosey but I have run out of time - another afternoon of taxi driving kids to activities beckons. At least I will get to talk to someone - I have only spoken to the dog since drop off!

Carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2011 15:03

That is a lie - I spoke to the lady on the checkout in the supermarket Blush I think I need to invite some friends for lunch or something. I can do it without stress now as the house is presentable as long as they stay out of the study. Grin

noeyedear · 19/01/2011 18:19

Been a bit rubbish for a few days and haven't really done anything- was meant to do home blessing yesterday while DS at nursery, bu the threw up everywhere, so had to be at home 48 hours (grr!) Are we doing Kellys missions as well as (weird) babysteps?

SharonGless · 19/01/2011 20:27

Hi there been working all day and only just got DC in bed and tea eaten.
Don't think I have the energy to do much more than put a load of washing on. At least I have done the babystep for today

Carrots - you must have peeked before you wrote your post Wink
Cointreau - think you are cheating here!

Dosey · 19/01/2011 20:46

Todays babystep also covered for me,I am a bit like Cointreau with the laundry. As soon as dds are in bed a load goes in then on the radiators and in the airing cupboard to dry. I may even hang the washing outside tomorrow if the weather is good. I am a sad cow love the smell of washing dried outside. I did the front of the bathroom cabinet when I got home from work, didn't take long. Also I scrubbed my washing machine drawer and wiped the front of the washing machine. Its now as shiney as my sink!!!! Sunglasses must be worn on entering
my kitchen!!!

bessie26 · 19/01/2011 20:50

I'm still laughing at the addition of laundry to our lists - what else does she think we do? I've split my tasks into morning/after-work/evening and laundry is on all three of them!

noeye I don't know what the official line is, but I'm seeing Kelly's missions as optional Wink Hope DS is feeling ok? DD once did a week of throwing up every 46 hours - every time I thought I could go back into work, she'd be sick again!!

I've been out at an aqua-natal class tonight so have only just eaten dinner. I'm going to spend 15mins working on my big meal planner (want to get one set up for 4 weeks), then do my before-bed routine & go for a nice bath - think I'll do some of Kelly's stuff while I'm waiting for it to run.

dylsmum1998 · 19/01/2011 21:02

dosey I love the smell of outdoors dried washing too. I got very excited at the weekend when I was able to put the sheets out on the line.

noeyedear Not sure officially if we should do the missions as well yet, but I have decided if they are a job I need to do then I am going to try to do it.

I have spent the afternoon managing to do a little uni work and the evening with the children and sewing.

Am off to unload the washer (as obviously I could not of known to do this unless flylady says so Wink

abgirl · 19/01/2011 21:47

Hello all, am not behind but stopped decluttering for a few days as have a chest infection :( sink is still reasonably shiny though and keeping up with most other things as well.

dylsmum I've been sewing as well tonight - not something I do very often but had a few hems that needed doing so cuddled up to DH and got on with them - v flylady actually I think!

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 11:31

baby step 21
Kelly's Mission
Morning everyone. I have finally had some human company after taking the dog a long walk with a friend and her dogs. I feel much refreshed but need to get on now. I have dealt with dishes, done the laundry (including sorting and folding today) and swished both bathrooms.
I'm off to read what our mission is today as although I have linked it I haven't read it yet.

Longtalljosie · 20/01/2011 11:48

Today's mission is, in my view, slightly bobbins (happy to stick to my own system which involves thinking "this shampoo bottle's a bit light, I'll put that on the shopping list".

I have invented my own mission, which involves sorting out the drawer of clutter in the sideboard. A lot of historic birthday / new job / anniversary cards are about to go in the recycling!

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 12:22

I know what you mean Long - that wasn't relevant to me either. What I did instead was go through the cupboard and tidy it up and chuck out all the grungy manky stuff. Now I can get all the spare toilet rolls in one cupboard, and have room for all the swishing and swiping stuff in the cupboard rather than having it on the windowsill. It looks a lot better than having all those things sitting on the vanity.
I have spent about half an hour in the study too and managed to chuck away the majority of the contents of an ice cream tub I have been moving around the house for about 8 years Blush- that felt really cathartic to me, a self recognised hoarder. Grin
Good luck with the cards Long - my dd has a bag of them in her room which she is finding it hard to part with.

noeyedear · 20/01/2011 14:01

Hi, DS is OK now. Sent him into preschool because he was just feeling sorry for himself at home, so... did my home blessing-it took longer than 1 hour and I didn't get everything done ( mirrors still dirty) but got through more in 1 hour 30 than I do normally in my 3 hours! Must be because of all the little things I'm doing in between!

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 14:09

I'm glad ds is better noeyedear - it is awful to see them poorly. I have yet to attempt a home blessing. What did you include in it? Is there a link which suggests what it could involve?
I have mopped myself onto the sofa in the kitchen. Doing our kitchen floor is a massive and exhausting job but it is done. It looks better already even though it is still damp. Hopefully it will dry in time to bring all the chairs in from the hallway before school pick up.

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 14:18

Flylady's Home Blessing I found a page - it doesn't sound too bad. When I do the kitchen I move all the furniture to hoover and then mop which is why it takes so long.

planestrainsautomobiles · 20/01/2011 14:33

I'm a newbie - just had a quick look at the flylady website and definitely interested in joining in....am I too late???

Sorry to be a pain but is there something that I can read to fully understand what I need to do.

Need to get some order back into my life - feel like I've been coasting since the Christmas break. Bought the life laundry book (recommended by MN) but haven't started yet.

If I'm too late thats cool but just let me know when I can join.

Thank you Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 14:43

Welcome planes I don't think you would be too late. All we have really been doing is following the babysteps on the flylady website. here We are on step 21 but many of the steps are a bit Hmm so we have ignored them Grin
Everyone has a different lifestyle so people are doing as much or as little as they can according to their circumstances.

I am sure you will catch up no problem.

dylsmum1998 · 20/01/2011 14:57

afternoon all, just quickly checking, have been in uni all day. Got home now and had lunch- time to crack on with houseowrk before I go and get dd from school. All I managed this morning before I left was to unload the washing machine. Going to wash up quickly now then hopefully will get everything else done while I cook dinner.

Welcome planes
noeyedear its good that ds is feeling better now
carrots slightly pointless mission and babystep today, so thats 2 less things for my list Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 16:03

The fewer things on the list the better dylsmum. I take it the car is fixed?

dylsmum1998 · 20/01/2011 17:58

yes the car is fixed (thank fully as I need to get back into routine. )

I spoke to some of the others on the course today about how frustrated I find goin to uni to make pretty pictures etc like we did today! They are feeling the same, some didn't even turn up because they knew what we were doing. Others like me are trying to grin and bear it. Makes me feel better that I am not the only one feeling a bit Hmm over the point of driving all that way.

well both hamsters are clean, lunches are made, clothes are out, hoovering is done. Dc have jujitsu tonight so I need to do as much now as poss as I have uni work todo once we get back

Longtalljosie · 20/01/2011 18:07

Welcome planes!

It's not as hard as it looks. And (whispers) I haven't got a control journal or any of that malarkey - I just do the steps and the missions, and 15 mins cleaning in the kitchen / lounge / bathroom / 1 other rooms each day.

Dosey · 20/01/2011 20:31

hi everybody, just checking in. Am feeling very smug that I am sticking to my routines, most importantly the getting my big fat arse myself off the computer and getting to bed at a reasonable hour. I havent bothered with todays babystep or mission. In stead I caught up with Kelly's missions in both the bathroom and downstairs kitchen and did one hour home blessing.

dylsmum I managed to hang my washing out today and nearly got high from the smell!!!

Carrots your kitchen sounds fab, ours is about as big as a postage stamp!!!

Planes welcome, tell me more about your book! I am like Long, I dont bother with the journal or the emails just stick to your little routines and log on here everyday to see what you should be up. Good luck xx

Carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2011 21:34

I don't have a journal either. I don't really understand what it would be to be honest. I am just a vacant sheep sleep deprived mum who follows the babysteps and missions for the day and feels the house is a bit more manageable for it.
The kitchen is fab - it is our kitchen, dining room and family room all in one so it is where we all spend most of our time in the house. It used to be a postage stamp, as was the dining room etc so we knocked all the walls down Grin Just be grateful though Dosey when you mop your postage stamp. Wink
I had to hoover the stairs, landing and the dcs bedroom and do a major rescue in ds's room tonight as a workman is coming who will have to go upstairs tomorrow Blush
I normally try to avoid adults going upstairs in my house Blush
