I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Hi guys

It's all been a bit hit-and-miss this weekend... but there were a few high points

I decluttered and wiped down two of the kitchen cupboards - loads to throw away including some lentils which were never opened but now a year out of date. There's so much more room now and when I open the cupboard to get the teabags out I feel all pleased with myself!

DH and I went out to see Harry Potter last night and for the first time I wasn't twitchy about the state of the house/ kitchen. Not that we're usually that bad but it's a bit of a rush and it's usually a bit messy. Not this time, it felt good.

But today I haven't had time to do anything at all. Oh well, swings and roundabouts.

bessie26 · 16/01/2011 17:45

Not done much here today, we went out to a friend's for lunch & only got home at 5.

The going to bed on time thing sounds tricky. I always try to be in bed at 10, aiming to have the lights off by 10:30, but never quite manage it... must try harder this week!

Dosey · 16/01/2011 20:56

hi there, carrots your family day sounds perfect, I love days like that. We have had such a busy weekend but have still managed to do my routines, I missed my 15 minutes declutter yesterday but did it today in the dds bedroom. We sorted through a pile of their pictures and stuck a load on their wall. I am going to try and get to bed by 10pm. I have also read tomorrows babysteps and its another easy on. Sticking to a bedtime will be hard but worth, I am shattered but some nights just cant get off the computer. Must try harder Smile

dylsmum1998 · 16/01/2011 21:34

evening all. I am shattered I spent 3 hours doing the house blessing this morning, we went for a family walk round the woods this afternoon. Came back and have done all the ironing and lots of hotspotting and remaking of the beds. Very tired now so going to watch dancing on ice and go to bed. Think going to bed at a set time would be useful for me, I keep going to bed late.

Carrotsandcelery · 16/01/2011 21:47

Dosey it was all going so well until ds, who is SIX, SIX I TELL YOU, pooed in the bath which he was sharing with his sister.
Yuk, yuk, yukkity, yuk!
DD was dispatched to the shower. DH went into melt down. I had to stick my hand in the bath to remove the plug. Yuk, yuk, yuk! But DH did remove the offending items while I scrubbed dd. Grin
I then got ds scrubbed and had to scrub the bathroom (which I had cleaned yesterday - arrgghh!)
Ds cried for about half an hour and Dh confiscated his ds and tv rights (which really helped to calm the situation) and our lovely family Sunday went down the plug hole, with all the other offending matter.
The irony in the fact that the dvd from Love Film which we watched tonight was called, "The Cleaner" was not lost on me...it did add some much needed perspective mind you. Grin

Oh god Carrots sounds grim! Well done though for all your family acitivities. We have been doing crafty stuff this morning and it was driving me mad as the kitchen was lovely and tidy last night before I went to bed! I chilled out though and we had a nice morning.

have done 2 washloads today and the uniform ironing
2 hotspots done
Bathroom cleaned
Kelly's mission re kitchen cupboards done and I wiped kitchen windows down for good measure.

DC beds changed but didn't get round to doing ours so will do ours in the morning as love going to bed in a clean bed.

Carrotsandcelery · 16/01/2011 22:15

Well done Sharon - you were very busy! The dcs tidied up after their crafting - I am trying to get everyone to start taking responsibility - mine are old enough now. Ds struggles but he will have to learn. Lesson No 1 - don't poo in the bath!Grin (nearly typed Gin there - will take that as a sign - tee hee!

CointreauVersial · 16/01/2011 22:23

Ha Carrots, what a nightmare, I think if any of mine did that I'd be fetching them a fishing net!

A fairly dull day here, ds played football, then came home and spread mud everywhere; dd1's rabbit was in the house again, and spread sawdust everywhere, and I just ran round after them with a dustpan and a hoover. Did lots of laundry too. Hotspot extinguished and sink shined.

Oh, and my new niece was born today!!! SmileSmile

bessie26 · 16/01/2011 22:25

oh carrots that's gross! Hope it's not a sign he's coming down with something? the last time DD (now 2) did that, she was poorly the next day.

I feel like I'm slacking - I'm not doing Kelly's missions or any home blessing Blush although I did just look them both up on the site & I have pretty much done what they suggest - i guess i just need to get them added onto my list so I do them next week!

and I have failed to get to bed on time

Carrotsandcelery · 16/01/2011 22:33

Cointreau - CONGRATULATIONS! That is such lovely news. Smile

I have never done a house blessing. Are we supposed to be doing that or will we get to that eventually if we follow the babysteps? Does anyone know?

bessie26 · 16/01/2011 22:38

oooh, perhaps someone was skipping ahead & I'm not a slacker?

congrats to auntie Cointreau!

CointreauVersial · 16/01/2011 22:56

Aww thanks! It's my/dh's 17th niece/nephew but still a thrill! She's gorgeous.

I don't know why I picked up the Home Blessing thing, I thought we should be doing it once a week, maybe I imagined it? Brownie's Honour I wasn't cheating and looking ahead!

Carrotsandcelery · 16/01/2011 23:00

It can't do any harm Cointreau - as long as I haven't missed something I should have picked up on. 17 nieces and nephews must make Christmas very challenging! Shock

SharonGless · 16/01/2011 23:02

Bessie you aren't a slacker at all!
I am skipping ahead totally! Saw it on the email and had a nosey. Decided to do the kitchen cupboards while cooking sunday roast. Not started on any home blessings.

Congrats to Cointreau - I love new babies. just think of all those lovely cuddles to be had

SilveryMoon · 17/01/2011 07:03

Morning.
Completely fell off this last week, so annoyed with myself.
Nevermind, new week, new start.
Today I have. Done a wash load, swished and swiped bathroom and done. 5 min room rescue.
Sink was shined before I went to bed last. Night too, so as of this moment I am on track.
I need to look at the babysteps and work out where. I am.

Just on way to work now so will. Bbl

SharonGless · 17/01/2011 08:10

Hi Silvery don't worry about last week - you only missed some rubbish baby steps! It is so easy to get back in the swing of it and jump right in.

Sounds like you are motivated for this week so keep it up ;)

bessie26 · 17/01/2011 09:53

Hi silvery! Like sharon says, you didn't miss much... Delete some fly lady emails, read an email, read an essay, goto bed on time, do kelly's mission... nothing too difficult! Smile

dylsmum1998 · 17/01/2011 10:18

Morning all. Silvery Like everyone else says its so easy to just jump back in it doesn't matter if you miss a few days. I should be in lectures right now but my car has broken down. Well it goes but as the brakes have seized it won't stop! Waiting for breakdown people who are stuck in traffic so who knows what i'm going to get done today?lol

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 11:04

Hello Silvery - welcome back! It should be easy to join in as not much has changed over the course of the week.
dylsmum - good luck with the car. It sounds like a real pain.

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 11:07

Sorry for posting in little bursts but my laptop keeps crashing.
So far today I have swished the bathroom, put on a load of washing, hung up a load of washing and done the ironing. My sink is shining and I have cleaned the kitchen surfaces.
I am just off to find our links for the day.

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 11:09

I think this is where we are today - doesn't sound too difficult - just got to read the 11 commandments.

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 11:10

this is Kelly's mission for the day if you are keen to give it a go.

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 11:11

I don't even know if I have a ventShock so I am off to have a look.

Carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2011 12:14

I do indeed have a vent Hmm It is now dusted and hoovered. I took the light fitting down and washed it and dusted the fittings. Took about 5 minutes max.
Have also hooovered and tidied the back door mat, vestibule and coffee tables.
