I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Hurrah for Guacamole! Welcome back!
Ironing finished so feel I have earned a wee MN until school pick up.
Guacamole do you have a dishwasher. We gave up on the high chair and got a booster seat - the whole thing could go through the dishwasher - made a huge difference. We could also remove the tray entirely so could wash it in the sink between meals.
The added bonus was that it folded up fairly neatly so if you were going for lunch at a friend's you could take the high chair with you.

Carrotsandcelery · 12/01/2011 14:36

like this Ours is not this one but a very similar idea. We have kept ours (in the loft) and dig it out if friends are coming with little ones for meals. We just pop it in the dishwasher before they arrive and know it is virtually sterile.

Dosey · 12/01/2011 20:49

hi everybody, just checking in and reporting that I have done my mission, I cleaned the top of my fridge freezer and was very happy because I found a tin of shortbreads left over from christmas! I need to do my 15 minutes declutter and will do that in dds room. My 5 minute room rescue usually involves putting the toys away on a night. Can I ask if people are still using their journals and if so what is in there. I must admit mine is not getting used much at all xxx

dylsmum1998 · 12/01/2011 22:12

evening all. I have been doing routines but thats all. decluttering on uni days is too much as well.

I have done todays babystep without realising (only just online to see what it was) Smile

I have came up with a cunning plan to help sink shining be easier at the end of the long day. ds had a letter home from school the other day, its to go away for a week on an adventure camp tyoe thing. costing £150. So I hvae said he can go but needs to work to earn it. His job is to wipe up after everytime I wash up. just a small thing but frees me up an extra five mins which means I chat to him about school etc while he does it and I make the lunches for the next day while we chat.
DD was desperate to help him this evenign so dried all the knife and forks etc, left him to do all the big thing. RESULT!

OK sink is shiny, bags packed ready for tomorrow. I have been working silly hours for last 2 days but have been doing my morning and evening routine. I haven't done a mission yet but will do two tomorrow to make up!

please help to keep me motivated as DH is fucking useless Angry

Got to go to bed now as up early again but will be on tomorrow night to catch up with thread properly. Night all

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 09:40

Think about how much easier the morning was Sharon with a clean sink and all the bags ready.
Even if noone else in the house "gets it" it still makes a difference to you.

dylsmum I have been getting the dcs involved too - I reckon it will help them develop good routines and habits for their adult lives too. I have also noticed that because the house is better they are taking more care automatically. DD did ask me yesterday why I had become so "clean" Blush I do wonder what they think of me sometimes.
Dosey result with the shortbread Grin I don't have a journal, just a list blu taked to the inside of a kitchen cupboard. I don't look at it every day but did update it yesterday. I was surprised how many things on the list were already just habit.

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 09:42

baby step 14
I am confused. Should I now be doing a "Kelly Mission" every day? Should I have added that to my list? Does anyone know?

Dosey · 13/01/2011 09:55

thank you for the babystep Carrots. I think am going to do a Kelly Mission just to get me into another habit!!! They dont seem to take long x

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 10:19

Ok Dosey I will join you on that. I only have a kettle and a toaster on my worktops so it should be a quick one.
Anyone any tips for cleaning round and in the toaster?

noeyedear · 13/01/2011 10:52

I'm confused too! Is the babystep just to read about calendars? Dosey, I've been a bit rubbish with my journal to. I've not really added to it, but I've been writing things down in a book. I'm going to put the routines into a folder now I have found some lined paper that DS hasn't drawn all over!

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 10:54

I think it is noeyedear - I do the calendar thing anyway so it wasn't really a new job.
I have been cleaning my kitchen windows. It is foggy outside though so I can't tell if the windows are foggy too or if it is just outside.

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 11:48

I'm impressed! The sun has just come out and my windows are gleaming. The vinegar and newspaper trick really does work. I have 4 more to go to finish the kitchen ones. Grin

CointreauVersial · 13/01/2011 12:42

I don't think we have to do a Mission today, just have to read the blurb, but as yesterday's drawer-cleaning never happened Blush I will be doing that when I get home (mitigating circumstances - had five children rampaging round the house all afternoon).

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 12:45

So far I have put a wash on, cleaned the windows in the kitchen (there are 16 as tall as me so quite a job), done the worktop mission and swished the main bathroom. I am struggling to tackle a hotspot or do a room rescue or 15 min declutter as I REALLY don't want to go into the study and that is where they all are just now. Boot required from someone please...

abgirl · 13/01/2011 12:50

Carrots, go and do your study for 15 minutes - I have been doing mine for the last 2 nights and it's already looking much better. Just get on with it (large boot attached) - progress report later please!!!

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 16:16

Ouch! Shock I did 15 mins in my study which mostly consisted of flattening empty cardboard boxes, but it is still 15 mins of flattening cardboard boxes I don't have to do another day. Thank you abgirl.
I'm off to see my dm now - think I have earned a break Grin

abgirl · 13/01/2011 17:15

Well done Carrots - break well earnt. My hotspot yesterday was cardboard box flattening, got another 15 minutes to do tonight in the my office but the filing is now nearly completeSmile but still need to archive stuff from 2010 and clear up some junk stuff to go on ebay that's been lingering for a while...

SharonGless · 13/01/2011 18:30

Right just got in putting DC to bed - swish and swipe while I am in there.
Ok this is my plan for tonight
Meal plan for the next week and do internet shopping order. This itself will be a very good step forward for me.
Washing load on
2 min hotspot
15 min room rescue
declutter one of my bedroom drawers as everything gets chucked in there.
Do shred DVD
Bags for tomorrow
Early night

CointreauVersial · 13/01/2011 20:12

Blimey SharonGless - all that activity AND an early night? I'm impressed.

Anyway, I did yesterday's Mission this afternoon and gave my kitchen drawer-of-clutter a makeover. It now closes!! Smile

Tomorrow is Home Blessing day again, although I am in and out of the house all day, so I will have to stick to the single hour and see what I can get done.

15 Minute Room Rescue tonight will be the Futility Room - dd1 has had her rabbit, Destiny, in there this afternoon, so it is sprinkled with spilled sawdust, uneaten carrot and lots of little "pellets"Angry. And she wonders why he's not allowed to be a house rabbit!

Dosey · 13/01/2011 20:43

hi all, well I have had a good day today, even though I have two dds and dp full of cold, in between wiping noses, taking temperatures, giving medicine, I have done my one hour home blessing, a two minute hotspot, a kelly mission which involved cleaning the fridge out, 15 minutes declutter and my ironing. I am now sitting down to much needed wine and chocolate!I must say though that the house is looking much tidier and organised without much effort at all. I hope these babysteps dont suddenly turn into huge monster steps!

Haribojoe · 13/01/2011 20:55

Am I too late to join this and how does this work? Any help with keeping on top of the housework is welcome, especially as maternity leave finishes in March1

Please be gentle with me!

Carrotsandcelery · 13/01/2011 21:32

Welcome Haribojoe - we are following Flylady's Babysteps just now and are on Step 14 at the moment.
Have a look at the link here and you will see what we have been up to.
Lots of the steps are easy in the first wee while so you should be able to catch up with us no problem.

dylsmum1998 · 13/01/2011 21:37

evening all. Jut about managed to do routines today. the children cleaned out their hamsters, coiontreau they make as much mess as your dd and her rabbit by the sound of it. I haven't done a mission today, but am trying to work out a months menu. so that I only have to worry about food shopping once a month, then just have perishables to do each week most of which can come with the veg box.

HAribo welcome. we are following flyladys babysteps at the moment; building routines to make life easier. I think we are up to step 15 biut jump in where you like, I must admit I haven't done many of the babysteps as they seem a little bit pointless to me, take a look here; flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.asp

bessie26 · 13/01/2011 21:50

Bloody helll, I don't check in for a day & you're all cleaning windows, emptying drawers & doing shred DVDs! I am very impressed! Grin

I've been at work the last 3 days so have just been doing my minimal routine,, but am off to bed in a min (after shining my sink) to read up on these missions & plan what I'm going to do tomorrow.

Someone was talking about staying motivated earlier, for me it's all about how much easier it's made the mornings. For example, having a clear sink means I can just quickly wash something up (before i'd have to dry up, and wash the dirty dishes soaking in the sink).

I'm also finding that once something is clean, it's much more likely to stay clean!

off to play with the laundry now!

SharonGless · 13/01/2011 22:27

Ok I have to confess that have only done half of what I wanted to achieve as I ended up doing other tidyin

DD had accident in kitchen so had to mop kitchen floor. When I went to get floor cleaner out I decided instead of decluttering bedroom drawer to do the box which has all the cleaning stuff in Smile
DS had homework diary for bloody soft toy to do so ended up doing that instead of my internet shopping. That is now a task for tomorrow night. Hotspot done and did 15 mins in DD room.

Washing sorted and put away
Sink shined and bags done for tomorrow.
Early ish night lol

Night all and looking forward to tomorrow
