I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Rather than one wash a day, I do three or four washes twice a week. We have a monster rack in our utility room which will accommodate three or four loads (except towels and sheets which I tumble).

In fact, our whole utility room was designed around the laundry rack (my pet hate is wet washing festooned around the house)!

SilveryMoon · 06/01/2011 20:20

Evening.
I do 1/2 washes a day. 1 in evening and 1 in morning. I too use racks, radiators and doors.

My washing machine is now fixed Grin The problem was a gunked up hair-band stuck in the filter Blush

All tonights jobs done, apart from the boys lunch for tomorrow, haven't done that, so will have to be done in the morning.

Carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2011 20:35

Well done Silvery - I am hoping dh might do ds packed lunch. Wink

bessie26 · 06/01/2011 21:33

I probably do a wash every other day. I do have a tumble dryer in the garage, but try to avoid using it too much (due to eco-guilt & cost). I have 2 clothes horses set up in the spare room, leave it for a day & then pop it in the tumble dryer for 10mins just to soften it up a bit.

when #2 arrives I loose my spare room, which means I loose my clothes drying room I hate having clothes drying around the house, but I think I'm just going to have to get used to it!

I am jealous of your pulley clothes dryers, my utility room is cold & tiny Sad

noeyedear - hope the laundry in the bed didn't just cause more grumps? I refuse to wash anything which isn't in the laundry basket - DH learnt quite early on in our relationship to put things in there!

Dosey · 06/01/2011 21:43

hi everybody, I am loving this motivating thread. I am about to shine my sink, and do my hotspot before I go to bed. I got my clothes out while dds were in the bath. A load of washing has just finished so I will put that on the radiators before i go to bed. The heating comes on at 6am so the washing is usually dry well before lunch time.I have just had a sneaky peak at baby step 8. I think that is where we are at. Is everybody going to be buying a ring binder? The ring binder and journals is where I fell last time I did flylady. I cant decide whether to bother with the ring binder or just stick to the routines.

CointreauVersial · 06/01/2011 22:01

Silvery, Carrots - can't your dcs do their own lunches?? I suppose it depends how old they are, but a pre-condition of DS moving to packed lunches was that he did his own!!!

I'm far too busy shining my sink to be making sandwiches. Grin

Anyhoo.....off to load the dishwasher. Tomorrow's clothes will be easy - off for another run first thing.

Carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2011 22:15

Ds is not able - he sorts his juice and his yogurt and spoon but I do the rest.

Dd sometimes does it for him but she has quite a lot of her own jobs to do.

It only takes me 5 minutes - the hard part is getting off the sofa Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2011 22:18

bessie the utility room is titchy (only one person can get in it at a time really) but the heat is handy.

Carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2011 22:23

babystep 8
I think Silvery has gone to bed as she is up early for work so here is our next step, if we are working one day ahead. If not then just ignore it until the 8th.
Happy shining everyone.

bessie26 · 06/01/2011 22:54

carrots thanks for posting the link!

dosey I'm still not keen on the idea of having more bits of paper fluttering around the house (although I suppose I could stick them to the inside of a cupboard door?) so I will be sticking to the "home routines" app for now at least.

CointreauVersial · 06/01/2011 23:01

Ooh, so we're moving towards some sort of control journal! That appeals to my inner list-maker.

Thanks Carrots.

SilveryMoon · 07/01/2011 00:16

Hello ladies. Yes, I'm in bed, did not make it past 9pm!
My dc's are 2 and 3 so not yet able to make their own lunch. I have started encouraging my 3 yo to take on responsibilty of making his own bed and feeding the cats. Plus they 'help' me complete home blessing (normally consists of babywipes cleaning floor)
I will be doing the control journal, kind of need it for my sense of order and set structure.

Thanks for posting the link. Yes, I did start posting the step in the evening for the following day for those of us who wanted to launch straight into it before logging on of an evening.
Is everyone ok with that or is it too confusing?

Right, now. The baby downstairs has stopped crying, I should try to get back to sleep.

Morning everyone. I don't want a folder - it will just end up on my hotspot! I have blu taked my morning and evening routine (so far) to the inside of our larder cupboard.
I have added things like swishing the bathroom and putting on a load of washing to it as well.
The wash I did last night had a tissue in it Angry so I have put it on again to see if that will wash it all away Hmm
I have done my hot spot for the morning - the kitchen table again Blush - hopefully it won't be the evening one again.
I am now doing anything and everything to avoid doing the week's ironing - someone give me a boot!

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2011 10:36

Morning all.
Carrots I to am not bothering with a folder, just have a sheet with the lists on. folder= more clutter!

Now get and do your ironing!! Grin Grin

Have done my morning routine, am now trying to work my way through my days to do list. My most important thing on the list is the essay I am writing. Just have the conclusion to go now but have lost my motivation.

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 10:38

Ok - I will do my ironing if you do your essay - report back at lunch time Grin

JaxTellersOldLady · 07/01/2011 11:42

morning, have spent this morning, with my timer set for 5 minutes at a time to do some quick cleans.

The dishwasher is unstacked and restacked, the laundry is on, the tumble dryer awaits the next load. Kitchen cleaned and tidied, beds all made and clothes put away.

Bathrooms are cleaned, upstairs and downstairs. Have decluttered the lounge and Dining Room 'hotspots' then dusted and all I have to do now is empty the kitchen bin, vaccuum downstairs floors, wash them and hoover the stairs.

Think that is it for today. Oh bugger, I have mountain quite a few DH shirts that need ironing and I have an absolute dread of it.

Help me someone, I am at the stage now where I could happily send it all out and pay someone to do it!

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 11:48

My dh irons his own shirts. It was painful to watch to begin with but a helpless man is extremely unattractive Grin
I am a SAHM but that doesn't mean I am a 24/7 slave.
dylsmum I have ironed 30 items - I hope you have written 30 words. I have stopped for a Pepsi Max Blush and then I will do the rest.
"This Morning" is making me lose the will - I need to find something better to entertain me while a slog it out.

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2011 11:54

carrots I have written more than 30 words- about 600! I do hope your ironing pile isnt that big Grin. Ok essay finished now just need to sort out the bibliography and will press send- once its gone I don't have to worry anymore.

Jax you have been busy, keep going how about just do a few minutes worth of ironing now, then do something different and switch back to the ironing. So that it doesn't seem as much at once?

Back in a bit with a completed bibliography Hmm

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 11:58

I agree Jax - do one shirt, go and do bin, do another shirt, hoover stairs etc.
Off to do the rest of mine. Well done on the essay dylsmum - you are clearly a better writer than I am ironer Grin

CointreauVersial · 07/01/2011 12:15

Just passing by the pc with a duster in my hand Grin and thought I'd check in!

Carrots - listen to Huey Morgan on 6FM, he certainly keeps a spring in my step while I'm doing housework.

MickyLee · 07/01/2011 12:25

Busy, busy morning here. I had a good re-organision of dc's room. Cleaned the toys, furniture and pulled the beds out.

Managed to do a little ironing too... gosh, I feel like i am supermum now Grin

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2011 12:33

BLimey Mickey you have been busy too! I am going to clear the pile of books/papers from all over th eliving room floor. Have some lunch then get going with the housework. DD has a friend coming round for tea tonight so want it to all look nice before then

twinterror · 07/01/2011 12:42
