I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Yes Bessie, my sink is clean anmd shiny. Yay!

NOEYEDEAR, you could use the hotspot time for your back room. There will be 15 min zone cleaning and 5 min room rescues coming up too, so one way or another that room will get tackled.

Right, off to bed. Goodnight all

I didn't do my hotspot Blush... will do it tomorrow, promise!

Amber789 · 06/01/2011 06:15

Good morning all, I'm more or less keeping up. It's harder now that I'm back at work but I hope that getting into this will stop the house being a tip by Friday. It's great to read everyone's progress.

sparklyjewlz · 06/01/2011 08:10

Have I missed a day somewhere. Thought we were on babystep 6. Apologies if I've got behind (already!)

sparklyjewlz · 06/01/2011 08:13

Two minute hotspot sounds do-able. Smile

dylsmum1998 · 06/01/2011 09:28

Morning all, have made it through all of my routines this morning as dd is back at school and I have an essay to write. Which of course is why I'm on here Hmm procrastination anyone?

noeyedear · 06/01/2011 09:40

Right, I've got off to a bad start today- not with the housework, but with DH. I asked him nicely to hang up his dressing gown on the hook (that he very enthusiastically put up) instead of leaving it lying about on the bed and he said " well, I'll hang my stuff up when you tidy away your things" and went to work in a huff! Now, I spend my day putting his pants and socks in the washing basket when he's left them on the floor, washing and putting his clothes away, putting away DS's stuff and I can't think what he's talking about. I'm really irritated. He knows I'm doing this. I ask him to do ONE THING like put away his own stuff and he goes off in a strop. I feel like leaving all his pants, socks, wet towels etc on a pile by his side of the bed, but that will just make the place look untidy. Confused
Anyway rant over, this morning, I've dressed, emptied dishwasher, loaded it with breakfast things, wiped down kitchen surfaces and swept the floor. I'm going to tackle the hotspot on the top of the bookcase where all the bills are dumped.

detachandtrustyourself · 06/01/2011 11:50

You could put all his pants and socks under the quilt on his side of the bed and flatten it down.Grin. I have washed some pots, swished and swiped bathroom, had bath and got dressed. Put a wash on. Target is wash rest of pots and shine sink, tidy and vacuum dining room, stairs and hall and kitchen. Plus two minute hotspot and laying out everyone's clothes. Anything else a bonus. Everyone is doing really well. Flylady says, you are not behind, just jump in where you are!

Unwind · 06/01/2011 13:36

noeyedear He probably doesn't waste any headspace wondering what happens to his pants and socks, or how his clothes get washed and put away.

A dressing gown is probably not worth arguing about, but you could tell him you are struggling to keep on top of things, and to help ensure you have time to tidy everything away, you want him to do his own laundry. That would save you a lot of work.

MickyLee · 06/01/2011 15:42

Hi all, Managed to get my morning and evening routines worked out and wrote down. Made a weekly do to list too, just basics like mop, dust etc. Just have to do them now Grin

Noeyedear Your DH got out the wrong side of bed did he! Hope he feels guilty for being so childish now :)

SilveryMoon · 06/01/2011 15:56

Hi, not caught up properly coz currently on my way home from work.
SPARKLY you're not behind. We did all miss one step because it was a rubbish one that I didn't think any of us would bother with!
What I have been doing is posting the following days step in the evening to benefit anyone who leaves early for work, so they can think of it through the day and get it done before we all log on in the evening, only because if I sit down, I'm not likely to get up again.
The swishing bathroom is way off but I think those of us who have tried. This before have been doing extra bits.
Atm, we should be shining sink, getting dressed to shoes, 2 min hotspot and laying out tomorrows clothes.

Will catch up properly once the dc's are in bed

I have just done my 2 minute hot spot. I set the kitchen timer and didn't believe I would get much done in the time. I am astounded - we can eat at the kitchen table tonight Blush It was so effective that I felt motivated to carry on and finish the job - only took me one more minute. You wouldn't believe 3 minutes would make such a difference Grin
Have also unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, hung up a load of washing and put another load on, swished the bathroom, hoovered the hallway (big job as the hoover struggles to pick up the dog hair) and cleaned out ds lunch bag (gross but necessary). I love the motivation that this is giving me - long may it continue. Now I just need to get off mn and sort the clean, dry laundry. Hmm

CointreauVersial · 06/01/2011 17:27

Hello all, have been at work the last three days, but haven't let my halo slip. Sink still gleaming!

I was so successful putting out my flaming Hot Spot on the dining room table on Tuesday that I had to find another one to do last night - now the shelf under the coffee table is no longer bulging with old magazines and catalogues but is a slimline shadow of its former self.

I did put out some clothes for this morning, but changed my mind when I got dressed, so a bit of a partial success there.

Tomorrow is "home blessing" day for me, but I'm going to amend it slightly - we do bins on a Monday and sheets on a Sunday here, so I'll substitute something else for those two slots (shouldn't be hard to find something....!).

Great thread, everyone!

noeyedear · 06/01/2011 17:38

MickyLee yes, I think he did get out of the wrong side of the bed, probably because I didn't show enough sympathy for his work non problem! Not home from work yet, but hasn't phoned like he usually does, so probably still sulking- we'll see! I have put all his socks and clothes under the duvet and flattened them down!!Smile

But I also cleared my hotspot- what a difference!

noeyedear · 06/01/2011 17:40

By the way. people who do a was every day, how /where do yu dry it all? It takes my washes at least a day and a half to dry on the racks in te house. I wouldn't have the space if I did a wash every day!

dylsmum1998 · 06/01/2011 18:12

I put mine on the clothes airer unless the radiators are on, in which case it goes on those.Anything big (towels etc) go over doors/the banister. there are only 3 of us here though might not be so easy for bigger families.

detachandtrustyourself · 06/01/2011 18:17

I have to do at least one wash every day. I used to really struggle to get it dry over racks, on radiators, hung on coat hangers on door handles, over banisters etc. (outside in the summer). Now I have a tumble dryer for the overflow.

noeyedear. Hope your DH does not go too mad over the socks etc under the duvet and flattened down. Would be funny though to see him discovering them when he gets in to bed!

I have shined sink again and done more washing up. Still some washing up left and did not do vacuuming. Will do tommorow now I think, but maybe today.

Off to lay out clothes for tommorow.

detachandtrustyourself · 06/01/2011 18:18

tommorrow

Carrotsandcelery · 06/01/2011 18:35

noeyedeer our boiler is in our little utility room so we put a pulley up in there as it is a really warm room. It makes the worktop virtually unusable but I put clothes on hangers and hang them on the pulley. It makes them much easier to iron.

We also put stuff on the radiators if they are warm as it also makes the house smell nice.
