I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? I've been useless, DS is a velcrobaby today and he's refusing to nap! I'll catch up once he's gone to bed tonight!

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 12:47

Oh Guacamole - give in to the clingy baby - before you know it he will be a bouncy 6 year old - soak up those clingy cuddles.

JaxTellersOldLady · 07/01/2011 13:07

Ok, all hoovering done, floors all cleaned, then the dogs went out to the loo, now going to go over kitchen and dining room again. Doesnt matter if I dry their feet, still leaves little muddy prints.

Havent done any ironing but I will. Promise.

Next week I should be down to 2 dogs as the foster one is going into breed rescue as I cant find her a home, which is a shame. For more info see my thread in "The Doghouse" Wink

Now, off to feed the dogs their lunch and myself and then I am off to supermarket to get a few bits for the DC and their friends.

Oh well, at least the house will stay clean and tidy until they all come home from school.

Going to book my oven in for a clean, it is my indulgence and to top it off it is a man who does it which makes me feel happy inside.

Hello, can I join? I've read the whole thread through (inc steps) and now have a suitably shiny sink Smile

Excellent. I'm hoping DH doesn't notice the tin of Christmas biscuits - or more accurately the tin which once contained Christmas biscuits! Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 13:49

ok have just tidied living room of debris from assignment writing. had lunch, put camping table back in shed, ironing and washed up.

Well come Longtall I have been tidying up christmas sweets whilst working this morning Smile

Now have half hour or so before I go and collect dd. Do I spend it flicking through a magazine, or get cracking on the next assignment? Hmm

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 14:30

Think you have earned your magazine dylsmum - all work and no play means burnout!

Dosey · 07/01/2011 14:44

Hi everybody. I did an hour of Home blessing this morning while red were at school and playgroup. I got loads done and still put washing away, did hotspots shined sink, took stuff to charity shop. Dd2 had a friend for lunch and now me and Dd2 are sat watching barbie. I never normally have time to sit down during the day. Am loving this flylady and this thread to keep ne going x

Longtalljosie · 07/01/2011 16:14

We did quite a lot of decluttering at the weekend which has really helped - but our tiny black wheelie bin is now overflowing so I can't throw away anything other than paper until Monday.

Does anyone else have a DH who is a total hoarder - and do they have any tips?

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 16:19

I am a hoarder myself. My mum's tip would be to put it up in the loft until I had forgotten about it and then to recycle, donate, chuck it away once I had forgotten about it.

JaxTellersOldLady · 07/01/2011 16:59

I wouldnt say that I am a hoarder, but I do find that if I throw things out about a day later I need them!

So, now I put them in the loft or our big storage shed and if I need it I get it, if not it get recycled/freecycled after a while/

CointreauVersial · 07/01/2011 18:54

Evening all!

I have had a busy day today - after my morning run in the pouring rain (and hot bath afterwards to defrost) I got going on my Home Blessing, which eventually developed into a full house-clean. I've hoovered, mopped, swept, dusted and polished, and it was very satisfying.

I'm hoping, once I get my daily routines sorted, I won't need to do such a mammoth exercise in one go. If I'm feeling motivated (like I was today) it's no trouble, but it takes ages, and normally I let things get really dusty and dirty before I can be bothered to get the rubber gloves out, even though I find it really depressing living in an unclean home. I would love to be able to maintain this level of cleanliness without having to give up a whole day to do it!

I'm just sorting out tea for the dcs, then I'm going to make a start on my little file, and write down the bare bones of a morning/evening routine. Then maybe a quick glass of red...Grin

Amber789 · 07/01/2011 19:19

I love this as well. I have doing one wash, dry, iron, put away each day, so apart from towels and bedding, I reckon I will only have to do a couple of loads at the weekend! Also, the house has never felt so tidy on a Friday. I normally spend most of Saturday on housework, so what will I do with all the free time?:)

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2011 19:51

evening all. It feels good knowing there is not much to do doesn't it.

Longtall I'm an ex hoarder myself. I used to keep everything then a few years back things changed and I found myself and the 2 dc living in a tiny flat. I had to let go of so many things, before anythign could be bought I had to really think about space, which meant I had no clutter. Am now in a house and loving how I have not got so much junk, it is relatively clutter free. I've not even had the loft borded so it can be used Shock

Possibly a bit drastic to move to small home but it worked for me. (hoarding not the reason why I was living in a tiny flat)

I have sorted out a bag of post I have been meanign to sort for weeks this evening while te children played.

Amber sat is meant to be family fun day Smile the tome freed up by keeping up with housework all week means time to play with dc.

I decided to sit a leaf through the studio booklet the postman brough this afternoon. Quite a few bargains in the sale one for dd, as its her birthday in April I am going to buy them.

  • tome?? sorry T I M E time lol Grin
Greedygirl · 07/01/2011 20:08

Hi - is it too late too join in? I hope not. I have a 3yo DS and I work part-time. I am a lot more organised than I used to be but the house is feeling a bit grubby at the mo and I have a really busy year ahead so I would really like to start the year on a positive note.

I have had a good read of the thread and I am getting to grips with all the jargon! I have been doing some unofficial flying without even realising it - clearing out cupboards etc., but would really appreciate some moral support.

MickyLee · 07/01/2011 20:14

Evening Flybabies :)

Sounds like everyone is really getting on well. I am really enjoying reading through all the posts. It is great how everytime I check MN (and that's every 3-4 hours) I have a whole page of flying to read through. It is a fast paced thread for sure.

I managed to get to the bottom of my iroing basket this evening Grin Going to keep on top if it like you now Amber

Carrotsandcelery · 07/01/2011 20:16

Hi there Greedy welcome to the clan.

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2011 20:23

evening greedy welcome.

Micky it is very fast paced its great to see how we are all managing to get into our routines.

Greedygirl · 07/01/2011 20:25

Cheers Carrots! For some reason I can't get my head around the shiny sink thing so I am going to do a 2 minute hot spot on my dresser drawers instead. Full of rubbish. I also really like the ideal of a control manual. Anyone else made a start on that (apologies if you have already mentioned).
