Just got a new table for our newly renovated conservatory. DH loves it.. but it's hideous isn't it?

It reminds me of like.. expensive council estate house with lots of mirrored and crushed diamond furniture and Live laugh love stuff

Miaow.

Whoopaday · 11/02/2024 17:21

It’s all a bit Mrs hunch grey and sparkly. Personally a carpet under a table is terrible! And you can’t move your chair in and out unless you pick it up and kind of bump/jump it in and out

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 11/02/2024 17:21

The aesthetic is all wrong because of the mis-match of styles.

The table would be OK in a conservatory that is styled to look like 'outdoors inside', as conservatories often are. But you have styled yours like a traditional room, so the table doesn't work at all.

If it were me, I'd lose the carpet. It's weird having a carpet in a conservatory. Then add some greenery, as PPs have suggested, and you might find that the table works a lot better.

A comment that says a lot more about you than it does the OP 🙄

not too bad.
but the whole room is very boring grey.
colourful vase & flowers or table runner or cloth will lift it up.

@Quitelikeacatslife I like that x

I prefer yours Op!

hattie43 · 11/02/2024 17:27

Yes it's not nice .

VimtoEverywhere · 11/02/2024 17:29

Did you order it online? The rules around returns are usually much more generous if you order it online rather than in person, you may be able to exchange it depending on how long ago it was delivered

It's not my taste but it does seem to go with the room

DillDanding · 11/02/2024 17:30

The carpet is worse than the table.

I think, unless you’re going to start over, you need to embrace the kitsch and get the pink table runner and bling the whole room out.

ComfyBoobs · 11/02/2024 17:30

The marble itself could be beautiful. It’s everything else that’s fucking awful.

I would, in order of urgency:

  1. replace the chairs
  2. replace the carpet
  3. spray paint the table legs a matt colour
amberedover1 · 11/02/2024 17:32

I like the marble top ,I wouldn't put a runner on it as I think it would spoil the lovely clean lines .
I think add greenery with plants.

I personally don't like the carpet ,but probably looks different in RL.
I like@Quitelikeacatslife idea of keeping chairs and carpet and going for different table
The marble table with those legs looks very heavy and the two pics posted that you've liked have an airer feel because of style of table legs .

RootVegAndMash · 11/02/2024 17:33

I'm not a fan of the table and chairs. But what really jars is the carpet. Both of them together is just far, far too much grey. It looks tacky.

I'd either change the table or the carpet to wood. And I'd get rid of the pink walls.

Anjea · 11/02/2024 17:36

I would return it. It's not my cup of tea at all.

Bbq1 · 11/02/2024 17:38

I like it

caringcarer · 11/02/2024 17:38

The chairs look too low for the table. Chairs with a higher back would be much better. The flooring is very dated. The table looks like an outdoor café one. Not to my taste at all.

aliceinanwonderland · 11/02/2024 17:41

Can you put the marble top on a different frame? Marble in itself can look OK especially with different less heavy chairs

diddl · 11/02/2024 17:44

Much nicer and won't break the bank.

Well that's a matter of opinion...

Mrs hinch hasn’t done grey for a long time, and when she did it was warm pale grey, not fork steel charcoal grey with pink walls.

xxxjanxxx · 11/02/2024 17:47

I haven't RTFT so apologies if it's already been suggested - I just think a carpet in a conservatory (even tho you've re-purposed the space) doesn't look quite right.
A room with so many windows should be light and airy and a carpet detracts from that. I think the problem may be with thefact that the room is carpeted, rather than with the table itself ......... #possiblyanunpopularopinion

Seaside3 · 11/02/2024 17:47

@caringcarer that's worse, in my opinion. Too dark and chunky.

fightingthedogforadonut · 11/02/2024 17:47

Sorry, Op. it's yukky. Any chance you can return it?

Getthethrowonthesofa · 11/02/2024 17:47

Yeah I’m not sure to be honest, I’d not advise that, too heavy and dated for that room.

Sittingtoolong · 11/02/2024 17:50

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 15:29

@Sittingtoolong you sound like a nice friend to have :-)

I like to think I am 💐

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 17:51

I'll just sit in my horrendous chavvy room at my cold dining table thinking of the thousands we've wasted on it and cry now ladies 🤦🏼‍♀️
