Just got a new table for our newly renovated conservatory. DH loves it.. but it's hideous isn't it?

Yes sorry.. it's a conservatory or it was, but we've converted it into a makeshift dining room. New roof etc on it, it was tiles under the carpet

White tiles might look better?

Have we not already had a thread about the chairs?

There’s no point asking on here because most of MN is going to prefer wooden floors, a nice rug and a battered wooden table and chairs.

Well that’s far from true, did your own choices get slagged off? What’s with the bitter little post?

CheersToMe · 11/02/2024 16:56

Not my taste, but at the moment it looks like a dining set in a greenhouse.

You need your glam up the rest of the room. Blingy side lamps.
Potted palm in a mirrored pot.
Big arrangement of (fake) white flowers on the table.
Mirrored place mats.

Embrace the bling!

Flottie · 11/02/2024 16:57

Yes hideous but so is that carpet/rug! And why all so grey???

diddl · 11/02/2024 16:57

I like it apart from the table legs.

Maybe a rug to break up the carpet?

Grey might be over but I still like it.

Still thinking about a grey kitchen tbh!

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 13:56

I do love the carpet tbh.. it's glittery 😂

🤮

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 11/02/2024 16:59

Sorry OP. Is it proper mirrored or more sort of foiled? How reflective is it in real life?

I like the idea of some blue hyacinths on the table. I think that would be nice.

I'd actually lean away from the pink and not try to be too matchy with accessories. Pink and grey can be a bit... um... entrail-y if you get it wrong 😬

BlueGrey1 · 11/02/2024 17:01

Not overly keen on it but it goes with the rest of the decor, it Dosen’t look out of place
I wouldn’t go adding a runner or other fussy bits to it, I don’t think there is any need to change it, most people probably wouldn’t notice it and it isn’t offensive.

Hmmm I wouldn’t do that, it would be tacky as fuck. So I’m not sure if you’re taking the piss.

id get some gorgeous roman blinds in a warm colour, velvet or silk, id add loads of massive candles to the table. Then id add a couple of large green plants, like a palm or bamboo, try to warm it up.

🤮

Alright no need to be offensive, it’s not my taste either but it’s hers and you can say so politely.

Quitelikeacatslife · 11/02/2024 17:04

It actually looks ok in daylight, the chairs look comfy but the carpet looks wrong and makes everything too grey. I just don't get the grey things at all. Individual items but not all together. You really need some colour in there. Can you have bright blinds? Maybe patterned? Table dressing? Mats nice candlesticks but need to be warm warm warm . Wooden or warm colours . If I could change anything it'd be loose the carpet

SquashPenguin · 11/02/2024 17:06

No more mirrored or shiny things! Yes the table is horrible, but beyond that the pink and grey is not a good look either. As pp have said it needs some greenery. I’d paint the pink walls cream and have some cream blinds. Anything to warm the grey up a bit. Tablecloth could work.

Quitelikeacatslife · 11/02/2024 17:08

Looking at it again, if you love the carpet and can sell the table, a wood one would look so much better

ShanghaiDiva · 11/02/2024 17:08

I think it looks better in the daylight. Agree with previous posters that it needs something to warm up the room.
it’s not to my taste, but certainly not awful

KnickerlessParsons · 11/02/2024 17:09

It's very masculine, but then I'm not keen on the grey chairs and carpet either. Sorry 💐

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 17:09

@Quitelikeacatslife I like that x

In daylight

There’s a lot of grey in a small room - sorry not my favourite colour. Are you using the room daily - perhaps some accents of different colour to brighten it up?

Freckles65 · 11/02/2024 17:13

Just live with it for a while. Then accessorise to suit the style you've chosen.

CakedUpHigh · 11/02/2024 17:14

Do you have a basement? That table would be great for cutting up bodies.

Alwaysgoingforit · 11/02/2024 17:16

Tbh none of it is to my taste, is the photo colouring meant to look like that? Just looks weird if that is the actual colour.

Parentofeanda · 11/02/2024 17:18

It reminds me of like.. expensive council estate house with lots of mirrored and crushed diamond furniture and Live laugh love stuff

It looks like shiny chrome to me - which my console is too.

Just looked at the photo again and it definitely looks best in daylight. I think you need some lamps to provide some low lighting. What are you planning for a window treatment? I would go for some amazing curtains so you could block the sun out if you wanted and closing them would make the room more cosy on a winter night.

I'd choose an accent colour based on the curtains and go from there.

Bearpawk · 11/02/2024 17:18

@Parentofeanda exactly that. Makes me think of mes hinch wannabes.

No need to be so cruel, dismissive and condescending. Let's see your showhome...?

What is an "expensive council estate house" anyway? Snobby!
