Where are you going for your holiday this year? Looking for inspiration long or short haul ! Be interesting to see where everyone is going.

We are going to Norway snowboarding in Feb half term and a fly and flop to Turkey in August for 2 weeks. Hoping to squeeze a city break in too as we usually do a couple a year but Norway was very expensive and we are having some much needed decorating doing in the house. DS wants to do a trip to Venice with a couple of days in Bologna to visit the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums 😂

A weekend in Dublin in March to watch the 6 nations, two weeks in the Maldives in April (Riu Atol) and a few nights in Edinburgh June to see a show that I've booked. We usually try to get away in October but I think I'll still be paying off the Maldives holiday, depends how finances are.

loved it, we were in Marrakech, a little cold - loved the chaos, did a few trips - it was our first AI holiday (and confirmed it would be our last AI, not for us) - would love to explore Morocco more - hoping to persuade other half to go to Jordon in September.

Onesipmore · 14/01/2026 17:23

@grimupnorthnot Thanks. We are staying in a Riad and doing a few trips, but May time so hopefully a bit warmer

Definitely - and a great option for accommodation - we were in a big hotel that was recommended to us and only did AI - but I wouldn't recommend it. We did a hot air balloon trip that was awesome and not a daft price. Loved the souks and the town.

Went to Marrakech last May -,warm and sunny, ranged from 28-35 temp when we were there. Well worth a visit.

we are pondering going back in March.

only definite thing booked at the moment is two weeks in Andalusia in the Autumn. If anyone knows how soon train tickets can be booked in Spain please do post - just regional such as Malaga to Seville.

Best wishes to all those with health challenges. Have an op coming up so whilst not anywhere near what some are experiencing it will still need few months recovery time in which travel not that realistic. No desire to then pay school holiday prices.

do have a couple of breaks in Brum coming up. Not sure if that counts. 😀

Thank you @oocooloo that's so helpful

I've done no planning whatsoever yet so that's a brilliant place to start.

I think we'd like to go out for some really nice food, if there's anywhere you'd recommend to get us started that would be fab.

Empress13 · 14/01/2026 20:28

We’re now thinking of Cape Verde if anyone has been there ? I did start a new thread but seems to be more traffic in here

Dublin has hundreds of restaurants, again it's a case of going where the locals go, although I've been to some of the more touristy ones when friends were visiting (because they wanted to!), and cannot complain. I think first of all decide what part of the city you plan to stay in, then work around that. I would recommend South of the river somewhere as the choice is much wider and there are plenty of hotels and air bnb there. The Northside is not the gulags at all, but there is a nicer feel to the southside I think.

Then, have a look here and maybe select a few that appeal to you, and if I know of them I can give you either the heads up or a no no or a maybe! You may be vegan, veggie, halal, fish lovers etc. There is something for everyone in Dublin.

I'll keep an eye here now and then, if you have any more questions.

So I have a big birthday this year and last weekend I booked to the kids and husband to Namibia. Husband and I have done African safari's in our younger days, this will be a first for our kids though and obviously there is lots of other sites in Namibia too. I have been talking about booking it for ages, so happy it's finally done. I am also hoping to do a week in Romania and a week at the beach, one at Easter and one at May half-term, but can't quite decide on the beach option. I'm also hoping for a Christmas Disney Paris trip, but I don't know if that will come off.

letshavetea · 30/01/2026 10:35

I thought I’d update this as I’ve now booked more holidays. So we’re off to Barbados in March, Lucca in July (summer festival), Norfolk in September (with family) and Sorrento in September/October. Took advantage of the BA sale to book the abroad holidays.

Squirrelchops1 · 30/01/2026 11:27

Booked Sicily at the weekend for early April.

BeefAndHorseradishSandwich · 30/01/2026 12:29

Already been to New York. Going to Gibralter/Spain, Austria, New Orleans and then one undecided.

Spain next week - so I’m hoping the weather bucks up! Have done several winter holidays there and I’m aware that it’s a gamble - one we’ve generally been lucky in, but it’s looking dreadful at the moment! We will be there for 3 weeks so it’s got time to turn around but we’re thinking we may have to travel a bit further afield next year.

Paris short break in April via Eurostar
Lake District in July
Break in Torquay with my friend in August
Sorrento with DS & partner in October

And we are thinking of Seville towards the end of November. Waiting to see if they add any flights from my local airport.

💐 for all those whose lives are being impacted by medical issues. Hope all your treatments go well.

APurpleSquirrel · 30/01/2026 18:39

We’re having our first overseas holidays since 2019, this year & im very excited.
In May half term we’re having a week in Florence, sharing an apartment with my DB & his family. Italy is probably my favourite place & I’ve only been to Florence once in a day trip.

And in the last week of the summer holidays we’re having a week in Carnac, Brittany at a Eurocamp for the first time. Will be my first time in France & on a proper ferry (the Isle of Wight Ferry doesn’t count!).

boys3 · 30/01/2026 18:53

Where are you heading to in Spain @ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy if you don’t mind me asking?

YourJustOrca · 30/01/2026 19:08

March -cruise from Miami to Panama, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico and a few other places.

May -Devon

June- cruise from Southampton to Germany and Belgium and a weekend away with loyd if family members in the UK

July- Crete for 10 days

September- a few days in a hotel in Spain and a cruise from Barcelona with some friends

I I haven’t booked anything for after that yet.

MinnieMountain · 31/01/2026 06:51

I'm going to Baden-Baden in 2 weeks. My original plan was Cologne, then I discovered that it's Karneval there which completely dominates the city. Luckily I'd booked cancellable accommodation.

DH, DS and I have booked Malaga for a week from Boxing Day.

We will be based in Torremolinos, spend some time in Malaga and trips planned to Ronda and Granada. Days in between will be easy ones walking along the sea front with lazy lunches. We did a similar trip two years ago but had lovely weather then.

Previous years we’ve also had winter holidays based in Estepona, Nerja and Alicante.

boys3 · 31/01/2026 11:32

Thanks @ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy hope you have a great few weeks. It’s the weather bit that is leaving us pause for thought about heading somewhere in March - southern Spain / Canaries / Morocco - especially for a fly and flop type break.
