Curious, I know it’s nosey.

We are looking at a package deal for just over £2000, all in, all inclusive and for 5 days. 4 years ago we only paid £1300 for something very similar and think we stayed an extra night. Is this the normal kind of price hike that everyone else has been finding when booking too? We don’t have to think about school hols either just yet which I know is very lucky - I was looking for a week in later spring and it was obvious very quickly which one was half term.

We have just come back from a week in a good hotel in Corralejo, Fuerteventura. The week cost about £1800 for 2. Last year, a similar week in a slightly better hitel in Lanzarote was £1,400
We are going b n b to a boutique hotel in Greece at the end of May, and that has cost us £2,500. We always thought that once we retired we would have loads of cheap weeks away. Not happened, all a lot more expensive than pre covid.

LondonPapa · 08/04/2025 14:23

Heading to Sweden soon for a week, it costs £3k for business class flights and hotel. Our south of France holiday in summer costs £7k, and our trip to the Asian winter sun costs £5k. None of this includes spending when there, I estimate another £1-2k on top. Thank god for the Amex points I earn, next years hols will be cheaper - I hope!

lavenderring · 08/04/2025 14:28

Aug holiday is for 2 of us. Lanzarote, 2 bed villa plus flights is £2010, 11 nights.

Seawolves · 08/04/2025 14:35

£1700 for a week in Aug, staying in a cottage in Poulton le Fylde.

Dox9 · 08/04/2025 14:35

Canaries, summer school holidays with dc 12 days. 3200 euro for flights and half board in a lovely hotel.

ConiferBat · 08/04/2025 14:38

Yep, we've paid very similar - 2k for 5 nights AI in Corfu over the Easter holidays for 4 ppl.

A week in a Airbnb in Croyde was nearly the same price, wasn't all inclusive and didn't have a pool.

Smithson85 · 08/04/2025 14:40

10 days in Denmark (Copenhagen/Billund) for 2 ad 1 ch in August hols is coming in at £2,800 for flights, hotels & car hire. Am working on maybe half again for food and attractions.

MiniCooperLover · 08/04/2025 14:42

Marrakesh for 2 weeks, 2 adults and one teen. AI for £4K

LuluDelulu · 08/04/2025 14:43

2k for a week in Balearics AI early May. Two adults and a toddler. Not an AI person at all usually, but giving it a go as it looks very child friendly.

groovylady · 08/04/2025 14:48

UK week in a large house by the sea for 4 of us.
£2000
It would have been circa £1400 pre covid.
Prices are crazy.
We went abroad for a week last year and for the 4 of us it was £7k.
We can't do that every year.

groovylady · 08/04/2025 14:49

(Hotel was half board and 4 star)

GiantRoadPuzzle · 08/04/2025 14:52

Did 3k AI for a week in the Canaries in March (2A + 2C non school age)

5k for 6A + 2C in May for villa in Ibiza, flights and car hire.

10k for Australia in November/December business class.

GiantRoadPuzzle · 08/04/2025 14:52

The Ibiza villa is 11 nights.

irregularegular · 08/04/2025 14:57

Neither are all that comparable really, but...

4 weeks in 4 bed (but only 1.5 bath) townhouse in Provence is £2k in September. Ferry will be about £200. We plan to half work online and half vacation, adult kids will visit for some of it.

Just come back from 3 weeks travelling around Colombia. Flights, internal travel, some private tours, accommodation was about £2.5k each for two of us.

Much cheaper once not tied to school holidays obviously

Can you report back on temp? That’s where we are considering albeit in a few weeks

About 12k for 3 weeks touring California for 2 adults & 2 teens in July. That's including hotels, trains between cities, and main planned attractions (Disney, Warner Bros, whale watching, sports event tickets etc). But not spending money. This is the one 'big' holiday for all of us together before the eldest probably won't want to come away with us anymore!

OddSockHouse · 08/04/2025 15:04

£800 cottage for a week in Devon in July.

We’ve also just booked 10 days in Greece next summer, family of 4, lovely small hotel, breakfast included, £2600. We’ve not been abroad in years, it was quite a shock to see how much holidays abroad are in the summer.
I remember going to Turkey for 2 weeks end of Aug, HB, it cost me and dh £350 each 🤭 ok, this was back in 2007, but still!

Doseofreality · 08/04/2025 15:05

July/August - Majorca

14 nights villa hire (4 bedrooms with pool) - £7,500
Return flights - £1800

mouse26 · 08/04/2025 15:09

We're doing 2 weeks AI in sharm el sheikh for our honeymoon in June. Cost us just over 2.8k

LetsWatchTheFlowersGrow · 08/04/2025 15:19

2 adults and 2 teens .
June.
One week in a 4* hotel in Mallorca, All Inclusive, includes flights and transfers
£3,700
I booked it last summer, and when I checked at Christmas, it had increased to something like £5k

OnyourbarksGSG · 08/04/2025 15:37

my daughter and I and my sister and her two kids are off to Corfu for a cheap week. We have two rooms and is self catering. Sc doesn’t bother me add there is tons of decent restaurants within a 5 minute walk and lovely beaches within 7-10 minutes.

my flights were £140 each return. Hotel room is £470 for 8 nights only staying 7 as it’s late checkout. Transfers will be £50 and I’ve got a budget of £100 each day which we’d find to be plenty.

so

£280 flights
£470 hotel
£ 50 transfers
£700 spends

total of £1500 divided by two so £750 each? Might end up taking a friend of my dds though. And that’s in late July so more than happy with the price

The temp for which one? We are Corfu regulars, Corfu in April is rather unpredictable. You can get a few nice days but you can also get horrific rain and storms. The first time we ever went was the first week May and it was as changeable as the uk weather. We had all seasons in one day. But the kids got to do a bit of swimming and still enjoyed it. They made some sand castles but then it was lightening. Very up and down but it’s a beautiful island. We tend to favour Sidari and enjoy hiring cars to travel around.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 08/04/2025 15:42

2 week cruise to canaries, Spain and Portugal for 2 in a balcony cabin: we paid just under £3200. This is term time.

We were very fortunate to get £1000 on board credit which will pay for all our drinks and any extras we want on board ship but we will eat off the ship when we are in port so we will have additional costs for spending money.

BumbleBeegu · 08/04/2025 15:44

Prague in August. Paid £139 return for my flight and £563 for Junior Suite, 6 nights bed and breakfast in a 5* hotel in the city centre (Prague 1 area). Absolute bargain 😍 (I’ve stayed in this hotel before just for a weekend, and it’s lush!)

ravenclaworslytherin · 08/04/2025 15:50

£1200 a week in caravan in UK in August
