Curious, I know it’s nosey.

We are looking at a package deal for just over £2000, all in, all inclusive and for 5 days. 4 years ago we only paid £1300 for something very similar and think we stayed an extra night. Is this the normal kind of price hike that everyone else has been finding when booking too? We don’t have to think about school hols either just yet which I know is very lucky - I was looking for a week in later spring and it was obvious very quickly which one was half term.

@Crikeyalmighty The holiday and spending for USA is bargain basement. Or not doing much. Tips and tax will take up a lot of it!

Anniesgal · 08/04/2025 21:52

Flights for 4 plus apartment 1 week South of France late July £1600

Notdoingtoobadfor52 · 08/04/2025 21:58

£1570 for 2 weeks in Florida - hotel, flights + bags. 2 adults end of August. Don’t do Disney etc but will hire a car and explore. I’m good at finding bargains!

HelloNeighbour2021 · 08/04/2025 22:15

@evtheria We booked with easyjet last Thursday to Rhodes, flying from Manchester.

I've found booking mid week a Wednesday/ Thursday tends to be cheaper.

ilikeeggs · 08/04/2025 22:19

2.5k for a 7 day cruise to the Norwegian fjords in August which I didn’t think was too bad for the school holidays.

Prague in August. Paid £139 return for my flight and £563 for Junior Suite, 6 nights bed and breakfast in a 5* hotel in the city centre (Prague 1 area). Absolute bargain 😍 (I’ve stayed in this hotel before just for a weekend, and it’s lush!)

Would love to go to Prague. Which hotel is it?

Albania for 2 weeks, all self booked.
Flights for 2 adults £350
Car hire £300 for 2 weeks
14 nights in various accommodation coming in at about £700
So £1350 for 2 weeks

Can I ask where in Albania you’re going?

moleeye · 09/04/2025 05:37

14 nights in Jamaica in August for 4 of us. 5* £8200

this is a massive expense for us, and not the norm. Usually it’s 10 days in Europe…

SongShan · 09/04/2025 07:01

@sprungingspring I have planned a bit of a touring holiday with a few beach days and some walking days and some historical places of interest. Tirana, Berat, Kruje, then down south to Gjirocaster, Permet and Ksamil. I'm very excited!

Moonshine86 · 09/04/2025 07:06

3958 for 4 of us to Orlando in May for one week. Flights and accommodation. The pack tickets will cost another 1.5k

Crikeyalmighty · 09/04/2025 10:25

@TizerorFizz indeed - I mean we were in LA/Laguna last time we went and luckily we can write our flights off for work and a couple of nights accommodation but we were definitely spending 200 dollars a day between us and that was mid range eating plus a couple of wines each a night - coffees and breakfasts -as you say it’s taxes and tipping- it really really adds up - we didn’t do any ‘attractions’ either- just drive and pottered about- bit of pool time etc. lovely holiday , but it’s not a cheap option these days unless you want to live on Maccy ds and don’t drink

TizerorFizz · 09/04/2025 10:30

We have several self catering places booked for our upcoming trip. Not done this before but I’m looking forward to it! High end hotel in Denver then a bit more relaxed. I gather food has increased in price but I’m assuming M&S pricing? We will see. I will buy a bottle of wine and enjoy it!

user4434 · 09/04/2025 10:36

2 adults and 2 primary age kids, so no choice but to go in school hols.

Going to Orlando for 2 weeks on Saturday. Paid £6,100 for flights, hotel & Disney passes.

Balearics for 2 weeks in August, flights & self catering apartment £4,600.

Antalya for a week October half term all inclusive £4,500.

Prices include the package holiday extras such as seat reservations but not spending money which will be on top.

MissAmbrosia · 09/04/2025 10:38

About 3000 euros (I think) for 2 weeks in Calabria end of May - 2 adults. Flight to Naples then train. I week in an apartment in Tropea, 6 nights in a roof top hotel suite in Pizzo (includes sunbeds on the beach) and 1 night in Naples. Food and spends will be on top, but I think prices are still really reasonable there. I think prices are noticeably more expensive recently. We had a week in Ischia in a lovely resort 2 years ago - and this year the cost for the same week has doubled!

Crikeyalmighty · 09/04/2025 10:45

@TizerorFizz next time we go we are going to do the same as you - just make sure I book somewhere with a terrace and ideally a pool. Going to alternate the nights out as that’s how it gets pricey. Thing is we’ve found in California everywhere shuts early and is dead after 9.30 anyway - that aspect was quite odd compared to say the med - I would say slightly higher prices than M&S - if you do it in any style. The variations of ‘whole foods’ though were very good indeed - we always check out supermarkets when on holiday - even if not using them!!

Well, you don’t need to go business class to Sweden!! And hotels in Sweden are relatively cheap.

No. I need, and want, business. I can afford it, so why not? I don’t like economy at all, the extra space afforded to me, and my family, in business is very valuable. Hotel wise, Sweden has cheap hotels but I’m not staying in a cheap hotel.

I do understand where you’re, presumably, coming from but I can afford these trips without issue, and I don’t see why I should go for a cheaper option just because?

I guess it seemed less relevant to me because the OP was asking about general holiday prices, not business class flight prices!

Deadringer · 09/04/2025 14:22

I am hoping to go to Agadir in january, the weather is good and it seems to be as cheap as chips.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/04/2025 14:27

@LondonPapa good for you - I don’t think people realise you can get business quite cheap on European hops with BA/SAS etc. when we lived in Copenhagen it often used to cost us £150 extra for the 2 of us- but for that we got the very nice lounge , better leg room and a nice meal and drinks so we didn’t need to go out when we got back to UK - especially on evening flights it was great. Money very well spent we thought .
