How much do you think this couple spent this year?

• 2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter
• 1 week European sun holiday in May
• 2 week European holiday this summer
• 1 week U.K. break this summer
• 1 U.K. city break long weekend

For 2 adults. Travelling comfortably in a nice standard of accommodation, not budget but not lavish either. So eating out at nice enough places but not champagne & oysters for every meal!

How much do you think this has all cost in total?!

Not sure where you holiday but I think that’s way over, that’s how much I pay for the same for 4 people not 2 people.

Assuming no DC and not confined to school holidays, my guess is around under £10k total, I could definitely do it for that and 4star:

I’ve done something similar this year and by October I’d have paid around 8K. (For my self)
no children. DP but two trips have been with him 5 have been and are without.

that’s including flights/hotel/spending money for 2 long hauls and 5 Europe.

Can’t answer really without an idea of destinations - some places will be uber expensive over Easter or the summer holidays, others cheap as chips. Could be a £15k budget for the year or £40k (eg AI, Club Med, 4 people over 16 = £19000 for two weeks; one week in Cornwall in a 4star similar to Bedruthran steps was £8k for 4 last year). But I have friends who would do a gorgeous Air BnB and easyJet to Italy and spend only £1000, including meals out.

And, if they can afford it, have the holiday spare (I count 6 weeks) and no kids - why not travel? Who cares how much they spend? Good luck to them.

Under 10K. depending where the long haul was to though?

10 -12 k if you were canny shoppers and did stuff like eat out every day, hire cars in some locations etc.

So 2025 prices: using a well-known package hol company, 3/3+ HB; top few offerings in a ‘prices low-high’ option (ie cheapest deals)

2 weeks longhaul (egMexico or Thailand), £4-5000
1 week euro sun (eg greece or Italy), £2200-2600
3 weeks European hol summer (Spain/Italy) £4000
1 week UK break - £1500 - 7000 (eg Cornwall air BnB’s are an effing fortune)
weekend Uk city break - £300-800 depending on which city and travel costs

So I reckon at least £14k if doing the cheap deals, but could be double that if choosing better hotels and being selective about flights/airlines.

Having kids of my own AND being a teacher sucks. Cheap holidays are not for me. Or, sadly, the friends who come with me.

Somewhere between 10 - 15k but everyone's idea of decent/nice/luxury really does vary, so who knows?

If you're good at budgeting and planning you could do all of that for £7000 - £8000 for a couple easily. If you chose the right destinations at the right time i.e. Asia at Easter - super cheap. I say that as a keen traveller who loves shopping around. I travel all the time and people always seem so surprised how often I think they think I spend a fortune but you really don't have to. I stay in nice places and go to nice restaurants. Just know how to find deals. I usually spend no more than £1500 for long haul for a week or 2. It's the flights which are usually the pricey bit.

So the answer is it's incredibly dependable and things might not be as expensive as you assume.
